I read books daily.

I read books daily.
The line between excellence and perfection is fuzzy. But, I strive to straddle it with intention, determined to work heartily in all things to achieve all that I'm capable of. You see, I’m a Black teenager in America and this is an unparalleled time in history and I intend to leave a legacy of greatness. I will be the first college graduate in my family and plan to study medicine. Outside of my career aspirations, I’m passionate about serving others. I try to focus on being empathetic to humanity, be it family or a stranger next door. From helping my mother with my siblings, aiding peers, trying to live greener (because that helps everyone) or volunteering, I’m constantly trying to see the world through other’s eyes and be a mirror of love and kindness to them, which inspired me to pursue anesthesiology specifically. Married to that is a passion for equality. We all share this planet, it's air, water, resources; and yet are not all treated the same. I’ve begun researching racial bias in pain assessment and treatment in medicine for my Senior thesis and it’s an area I hope to impact change. There are millions of students with 4.5 GPAs and huge goals, but what sets me apart is: I don’t chase the approval of others. I have a clarity of purpose that I believe is rare for my age; coupled with a passion for serving others. And I fully intend to leave this world a better place.
