Harvest Scholarship for Women Dreamers
My “pie in the sky” dream, the one that feels huge but still possible if I work hard, is to become a veterinarian and eventually earn my Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine. This dream started when I was really young. I was the kid who fed stray cats in my neighborhood and helped lost dogs find their homes. I didn’t know what a veterinarian was back then. I just knew that assisting animals made me feel happy and peaceful in a way that nothing else did. As I grew older, that feeling developed into a genuine passion. I realized that caring for animals is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
It wasn’t one big moment that inspired me. It was all the small moments put together. Every time I helped an animal, even if it was something simple, it stayed with me. Those moments taught me what it means to care for something that can’t speak for itself. They helped me understand that I want to be the person animals can rely on when they are hurt, scared, or in need. That is what truly sparked my dream of becoming a veterinarian.
To reach this dream, I know I have a lot of steps to take. The first one is going to Long Island University and earning my bachelor’s degree. LIU has the programs and hands-on experience that I know will help me grow and prepare for my future career. After that, I plan to start working as a Veterinary Technician so I can learn even more in the field. Then, when I am ready, I want to work toward my Ph.D. and officially become a veterinarian.
Everything I have done in my life so far has helped prepare me for this journey. Volunteering at my former middle school taught me responsibility and patience. I spent my lunch periods and after-school time helping teachers with grading, organizing, and anything else they needed. It showed me what it means to be dependable and to help others even when it’s not required. Being involved in sports like flag football and my high school stunt team taught me teamwork, discipline, and how to stay focused. These experiences showed me that hard work really does pay off.
My mom has also played a huge part in shaping this dream. She is the strongest person I know. She works every day, takes care of our family, and still finds a way to support us through everything. Watching her overcome challenges and still show up for us has inspired me to push myself, even when things get difficult. She is the reason I try so hard, and I want to make her proud by reaching my goals.
My dream might feel big, but I’m not scared of working for it. I want to be the voice for the voiceless and give animals the care they deserve. I know it won’t be easy, and it will take years of studying and dedication. But every step brings me closer to becoming the veterinarian I have always dreamed of being. I want to make a difference in the world by helping animals, one small step at a time.
This is my “pie in the sky” dream, and I’m ready to chase it with everything I have.
Ed and Aline Patane Kind, Compassion, Joy and Generosity Memorial Scholarship
My name is Alyssa Ortiz, and I am a senior in high school who is determined to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. I’ve always had a deep love for animals and a strong desire to make a difference in the world. My faith, family, and experiences in my community have shaped me into someone who believes in kindness, compassion, and service. I hope to carry these values with me as I work toward my goal of becoming a veterinarian.
My faith has always guided the way I see the world and how I treat others. It has taught me to stay grounded, to show kindness even in difficult moments, and to trust that everything happens for a reason. There have been times when life felt uncertain, but faith helped me find peace and reminded me that with patience and hard work, I can overcome anything. My faith also inspires me to care for all of God’s creatures, which is why I feel so strongly about helping animals and giving them the care and love they deserve.
I’ve always believed that helping others, no matter how small the act, can make a big difference. Throughout middle and high school, I volunteered at my former middle school to help teachers and counselors. I graded papers, organized classrooms, set up for events, and helped students with homework. I did these things because I wanted to give back to the people who helped shape me. Volunteering taught me patience, responsibility, and the joy that comes from being dependable. I am also in the process of becoming a volunteer at the North Shore Animal League, one of the best animal shelters in the country, and I plan to begin training in the spring of 2026. The idea of helping animals who are in need brings me a sense of fulfillment that words can’t describe.
Whether it’s helping a teacher after school, comforting a friend, or caring for a stray animal, I’ve always tried to lead with kindness. Growing up, I would feed stray cats in my neighborhood or help lost dogs find their homes. Those small moments made me realize that compassion is one of the strongest forces in the world. Animals can’t ask for help or explain their pain, but they still deserve love and care. That belief is what drives my dream of becoming a veterinarian, to be their voice and their protector.
I plan to attend Long Island University, which offers an incredible veterinary program that will prepare me for my dream career. My goal is to start as a veterinary technician and eventually earn my Ph.D. to become a licensed veterinarian. This scholarship would help me afford my education and allow me to focus on my studies without worrying as much about financial challenges. It would bring me closer to turning my lifelong passion into a reality.
My work and goals also honor the memory of Owen, whose service to his country inspires me to give my all to helping animals. Just as he protected and cared for others, I want to dedicate my life to protecting animals who cannot speak for themselves. Through faith, compassion, and service, I plan to make a positive difference in the world, one animal at a time.
Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
I’ve been a fan of Sabrina Carpenter for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a little girl, her music and shows have been a big part of my life. She has always stood out to me as someone hardworking, confident, and passionate about what she does. Watching her journey from acting to becoming a successful singer and performer has inspired me in so many ways. Sabrina has shown me that no dream is too big if you truly believe in yourself and are willing to put in the effort to make it happen.
What I love most about Sabrina is her dedication. She didn’t become who she is overnight; she built her career step by step through determination and persistence. Seeing how she handled challenges and kept moving forward reminds me that setbacks don’t define you, but how you respond to them does. Whenever I feel discouraged or start to doubt myself, I think about how she kept going even when things weren’t easy. That motivates me to keep chasing my own goals with the same kind of drive and focus.
One of my biggest goals in life is to become a veterinarian. I’ve always loved animals, and I want to spend my life caring for them and helping those who can’t help themselves. Sometimes, thinking about how long the road to get there can be, with years of studying and training, feels overwhelming. But Sabrina’s story reminds me that anything worthwhile takes time and commitment. She worked for years before achieving her dreams, and that helps me stay patient and dedicated to mine.
Sabrina also inspires me because she’s fearless about being herself. She doesn’t try to please everyone or change who she is to fit in. Instead, she embraces her individuality, and that confidence shines through in everything she does, from her music to how she carries herself. That’s something I really look up to. She’s taught me that being yourself is one of the most powerful things you can do, and that authenticity is what truly connects you to others.
Sabrina Carpenter has made a real impact on me, not just as an artist but as a role model. Through her hard work, confidence, and passion, she’s shown me that dreams can come true with determination and self-belief. Her journey continues to inspire me every day to follow my passions, stay strong through challenges, and never give up on what I want most. Because of her, I believe that with enough heart and dedication, I can make my dream of becoming a veterinarian a reality.
Jimmie “DC” Sullivan Memorial Scholarship
My name is Alyssa Ortiz, and I’m a high school senior who has always loved being active and part of a team. Sports have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve been playing flag football since middle school, and I’ve been on my school’s stunt team for the past two years, a sport I plan to continue again this year. Both of these experiences have shaped me into the person I am today, teaching me leadership, teamwork, and the value of hard work.
From the moment I joined flag football, I fell in love with the energy of the game. It taught me how to communicate, stay focused, and keep pushing even when things get tough. Being part of a team showed me how much effort and trust go into working toward a common goal. It’s not just about winning, it’s about showing up for your teammates and giving your best every time you play. Playing football as a girl also taught me to never be afraid to do something different. I learned that passion matters more than anything else, and that being confident in yourself inspires others to do the same.
Joining the stunt team was another turning point for me. Stunt is not an easy sport; it takes strength, coordination, and trust between every member of the team. It can be intense, but that’s what I love about it. Over the past two years, I’ve learned how to stay calm under pressure and rely on others while also being someone they can rely on. It has made me stronger both mentally and physically. Being part of a close team like that has shown me how much can be accomplished when everyone gives their all.
Sports have given me confidence and helped me build strong friendships, but they’ve also inspired me to make a difference for others. I want to help younger students, especially girls, see that they belong in any sport they want to play. When I was younger, I looked up to the older athletes at my school, and they made me feel like I could do anything. Now I want to be that person for someone else. Whether it’s through coaching, volunteering at youth sports events, or helping my community’s athletic programs, I plan to keep using what I’ve learned from sports to encourage others.
This scholarship would help me continue my education while still being active in sports and community service. I plan to go to college and pursue a career that involves caring for animals, another lifelong passion of mine. Sports have taught me dedication and teamwork, qualities that will help me in every part of life.
Through flag football and stunt, I’ve learned that success comes from effort, attitude, and heart. I want to keep inspiring others through my love of sports, showing that with hard work and passion, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
Kalia D. Davis Memorial Scholarship
My name is Alyssa Ortiz, and I am a high school senior who is passionate about helping others, working hard toward my goals, and making a positive difference in my community. I currently have over a 4.0, have been involved in sports throughout my school years, and dedicate much of my free time to volunteering. My goal is to pursue a career that allows me to work with animals, combining my love for caring for them with my desire to make an impact in the world.
Growing up, I have always been the type of person who gives my best in everything I do. As the oldest of three, I’ve learned what it means to be responsible and set an example. Balancing school, sports, and volunteering has taught me how to stay focused and determined even when things get challenging. Being part of a sports team helped me build discipline and teamwork skills, while volunteering showed me the importance of giving back and helping others. I’ve helped at my old middle school and supported teachers with classroom tasks, as well as volunteered at local school events. These experiences taught me that even small acts of service can have a big impact on others.
My passion for animals has been with me for as long as I can remember. Whether it was caring for pets at home or learning about wildlife, I’ve always felt a strong connection to animals. I know that I want a future where I can dedicate my life to protecting and caring for them. I am especially drawn to careers that involve hands-on work with animals in zoos or aquariums, where I can both care for them and help educate others about their importance. This dream motivates me every day to keep working hard and stay focused on my goals.
This scholarship would mean a lot to me because it would help me continue pursuing my education and career without as much financial stress. My family has always supported me in everything I do, but as the first daughter in my family to go to college, I understand the weight of what that means. I want to make them proud and show my younger siblings that with dedication and hard work, anything is possible. Receiving this scholarship would help me afford tuition, books, and other college expenses, allowing me to fully focus on my studies and continue volunteering in my community.
I believe ambition and drive are not just about personal success but about using your abilities to make a difference. I want to continue growing, learning, and helping others, both people and animals. I hope to one day inspire others the same way so many mentors and teachers have inspired me. With the help of this scholarship, I will be one step closer to achieving my goals and creating a positive impact in the world.
David Foster Memorial Scholarship
A high school teacher who has deeply influenced me and changed how I approach my life is my AP Psychology teacher, Ms. Baines. I took AP Psychology during my sophomore year, and deciding to apply for that class was one of the best choices I have ever made. When I first walked into her classroom, I was nervous and unsure if I would be able to handle a college-level course. I had heard that it would be a challenge, but from the very first week, Ms. Baines made me feel like I belonged there. She didn’t just teach psychology, but she made every lesson meaningful, connecting what we learned to real life and showing us how the mind and emotions work in everyday situations.
What truly makes Ms. Baines special is not just her teaching style but the way she cares for her students. She is the kind of teacher who notices when someone is having a rough day, even if they do not say a word. Over time, her classroom became one of my safest spaces in school. She made it clear that she was there not only to help us succeed academically but also to support us as people. Whenever I was struggling, she always took the time to listen. Whether it was about school stress or personal problems, she reminded me that it was okay to take a step back and care for myself. Her kindness and patience made a huge difference in my life.
During the last few years of high school, I faced several personal challenges that really tested me. There were moments when I felt completely overwhelmed and unsure of how to move forward. Through all of it, Ms. Baines was there. She would remind me that it was okay to feel lost sometimes and that the most important thing was to keep going. She shared stories from her own life that helped me realize that even adults have gone through hard times and that struggles do not define who you are. Hearing those experiences from someone I looked up to made me see life differently.
Ms. Baines has taught me so much more than psychology. She has shown me the importance of compassion, resilience, and self-belief. She made me understand that every obstacle is temporary and that it’s okay to fall, as long as you get back up. Her class helped me develop not just as a student but as a person. I started to believe in myself more and began to look at challenges as opportunities to grow, rather than reasons to give up.
Even now, I still seek her advice, and she remains one of my biggest inspirations. I hope that one day, I can impact someone’s life the way she has impacted mine. Thanks to Ms. Baines, I approach life with greater confidence, patience, and hope. She will always be one of the most important people in my high school journey, and I am incredibly grateful for everything she has taught me.
You Deserve It Scholarship
I need this scholarship because it would bring me one step closer to achieving my dream of becoming a veterinarian. Ever since I was little, I’ve had a deep love for animals and always knew that I wanted to dedicate my life to helping them. My goal is to study Animal Science at Long Island University and eventually earn my doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. I’ve worked hard throughout high school to stay committed to my academics, volunteer in my community, and take part in extracurriculars that keep me motivated.
However, I know that college will come with financial challenges for me and my family. My mom is one of the hardest-working people I know. She has been married for over fifteen years, works long hours, and still shows up for her family every single day. Watching her push through life’s challenges with strength and determination has always inspired me to work hard and never give up, no matter how difficult things get. She has shown me what dedication truly means, and I want to make her proud by showing that her sacrifices were worth it.
Being the oldest of three children, I’ve always tried to set a good example for my younger siblings. I’ve learned responsibility, patience, and leadership from helping at home and in school. I’ve volunteered countless hours assisting teachers, organizing classrooms, and helping younger students. On top of that, I’ve been part of my school’s stunt team and two football clubs, which taught me discipline, teamwork, and how to balance school and activities at the same time.
Receiving this scholarship would mean more than just financial help, but it would also be a chance for me to focus on my studies to become a veterinarian without constantly worrying about the cost. It would allow me to dedicate my full attention to my education and future career. I want to use what I learn to give back to my community and to make a difference in the lives of animals who can’t speak for themselves. This scholarship would not only support my education but also help me continue the legacy of hard work and compassion that my mom has shown me all my life.
Dr. Howard Hochman Zoological Scholarship
My name is Alyssa Ortiz, and I am a senior in high school who has always had a strong love for animals. My passion for them started when I was a kid. No matter where I was, I was always the one stopping to pet a dog or a cat in the street. I grew up caring deeply for every creature I came across, and that natural love has grown into a goal of becoming a veterinarian. I want to dedicate my life to helping animals live better, healthier lives.
I plan to major in Animal Sciences at Long Island University and then continue my education to earn a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. This major will allow me to learn about animal biology, behavior, and care, all of which are necessary for understanding how to treat and protect them. Becoming a veterinarian is more than just a career goal for me, and it’s a way to give back to the creatures that bring so much happiness and comfort into people’s lives.
Throughout high school, I’ve shown my dedication to helping others, which connects very closely to how I plan to help animals in the future. I also offer to babysit any animals I can for the people around me, and it brings me great joy in doing so. I’ve spent years volunteering in my school community, organizing classrooms, helping teachers, and supporting after-school programs. I am also in the process of volunteering at North Shore Animal League Shelter and plan to start training in the spring of next year. These experiences taught me patience, empathy, and how important it is to show up for others. I know those same qualities will help me care for animals who can’t speak for themselves.
I’ve also been involved in sports like cheerleading, flag football, and my high school stunt team. Being part of a team has taught me leadership, determination, and the importance of hard work, and all of these qualities will help me in veterinary school and my future career.
I plan to make a positive impact in the animal world by working to ensure animals are treated with kindness and compassion. I want to help those who are sick, abandoned, or in need of a home. One day, I hope to open my own animal clinic or rescue organization to care for animals that deserve a second chance.
This scholarship would bring me one step closer to that dream by helping me attend college and gain the education I need to make a real difference. My goal is to turn my lifelong love for animals into a career where I can truly change lives, both theirs and mine.

This scholarship would bring me closer to reaching my goal by helping me attend the college that offers the education and opportunities I need to succeed in this field.
I have always been someone who enjoys helping others, and I have contributed to my community in many ways throughout my life. Ever since I can remember, I have given a helping hand to my teachers in any way I could. In sixth grade, I would volunteer during my lunch periods to organize classrooms and support my teachers. Currently, I stay after school to grade papers, clean desks, and assist teachers in any way they need. These experiences have taught me patience, responsibility, and the importance of being dependable. Volunteering has always brought me joy because I know that even small efforts can make a big difference in someone’s day.
My dedication to service extends beyond my high school as well. During my freshman year, I volunteered at my former middle school’s after-school program to support the counselors. I spent countless hours keeping score at sports games, organizing papers and closets, cleaning, and shadowing the head counselors in any way I could. These experiences taught me teamwork, leadership, and how to adapt to different challenges while contributing to the success of others. I have also been actively involved in sports, including cheerleading in elementary school, flag football from elementary to the present, and my high school stunt team for the past two years. Participating in these activities has taught me discipline, time management, and the value of dedication.
All of these experiences from volunteering in schools, helping teachers, participating in sports, and caring for animals have prepared me for my future career as a veterinarian. I have always been a helper, and I plan to carry this mindset into my professional life. This scholarship would allow me to attend Long Island University and take the next steps toward achieving my dream. I am committed to using my education, skills, and dedication to make a positive impact on the lives of animals and the people who care for them. Becoming a veterinarian is not just my goal but my passion, and I am ready to work hard to make it a reality.
If I were to start my own charity, it would be to help animals in need. My mission would be to ensure the health and safety of every animal possible. I would make sure these animals find loving and caring homes, where they are cared for and loved unconditionally. Volunteers would provide food, toys, and beds, as well as donate money for animals who are sick or in need of medical attention. I would work hard, to ensure that every animal lives the life they deserve.
William "Bill" Scotti Memorial Football Scholarship
My experience as a football player has influenced me to become one of the most determined and hardworking people I know. I am a senior in high school and have always had a love for football. It all started when I joined a football club in the sixth grade and realized how natural it was for me to catch the ball, as well as throw a spiral. Being a girl in a football club was not only nerve-racking but also intimidating. As a young child, I used to let that aspect get in the way of doing what I loved, but in middle school, my love for football really began to grow.
As I started to play every day, run drills, throw long distances, and practice consistently, I gained both skill and confidence. Football became more than just a sport for me; it became something I was passionate about and proud of. During my sophomore year of high school, I started a football program in the city, which was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. It was an all-girls flag football program, and it made me feel seen and included. Being surrounded by talented girls who shared my passion pushed me to improve even more and helped me flourish as an athlete. The teamwork, dedication, and commitment I learned through this program have shaped the way I approach challenges in all areas of my life.
Today, I am known as “the girl with the arm” or “the QB,” and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Being able to show off my arm and proudly throw a football in front of people means more to me than it seems. Every time someone doubted my ability because I’m a girl, it pushed me to work harder, practice more, and prove to myself that I could succeed. Football has taught me patience, perseverance, and the importance of believing in yourself, even when others don’t.
Through all of this, I’ve learned that determination and hard work are what truly define success. Football has not only made me a better athlete but also a stronger, more confident person. It has inspired me to take on challenges in school, sports, and my community with the same energy and commitment. Being a football player has shown me that passion, persistence, and self-belief can help overcome any obstacle, and those lessons will guide me in everything I do in the future.
Stewart Family Legacy Scholarship
Leadership and science shape our future because they teach us how to solve problems, work with others, and make a real difference. As a senior in high school, planning to become a veterinarian, I have experienced how both are important in everyday life. Science classes I have taken, like AP Biology, AP Psychology, and AP Environmental Science, have helped me understand how the world works. I've learned about animals’ biology and behavior in the environment. These classes have taught me to think carefully and also be able to analyze situations and make decisions based on facts, which I know will be important in my studies in veterinary medicine.
Leadership has also played a big role in shaping who I am. Being part of my high school stunt team, my two football clubs, and volunteering countless hours in my community has taught me how to guide others, communicate effectively, and work as part of a team. These experiences have shown me how to take responsibility, be patient, and encourage others, whether it’s teammates, classmates, or people I help through volunteering.
Combining science and leadership gives me the tools to not just understand different problems in the world but also take action to solve them. For example, studying how animals behave or how ecosystems function helps me know what steps to take to care for them, while leadership skills teach me how to organize, motivate, and support people to achieve the same goal. I have always been a helper in high school, and these experiences together prepared me to make a difference in my future career as a veterinarian, whether it’s helping animals directly, educating pet owners, or working on projects that might improve animal health.
I believe the future depends on people who are willing to learn, act, and lead. By continuing to grow as a student, athlete, volunteer, and aspiring veterinarian, I can use science and leadership to make a positive impact on both animals and my community. These skills will allow me to reach my goals while helping create a better world for the lives I touch and being the voice for the voiceless. Leadership and science are the key to helping create a better environment for us and the animals around us. I will carry the responsibility of being a caretaker and the leader I have always been, to ensure the care of animals that are in need.

My name is Alyssa Ortiz, and I am a senior in high school who is determined to pursue a career as a veterinarian. The person who has shaped the way I see myself as a leader, and inspired my dedication and perseverance is my mother. She has faced challenges every single day, working a hard job, managing our household, and navigating the struggles of her marriage for over fifteen years, yet she continues to show up for her children without hesitation. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to our family have taught me what it means to work hard, be responsible, and remain dedicated to something bigger than myself. Watching her handle everything with grace and determination motivates me to push myself academically and personally. She inspires me to strive for excellence, even when things feel difficult or overwhelming, and she has shown me the importance of showing up and giving my all, no matter the circumstances.
My mother’s example has deeply influenced my own goals and ambitions. I want to become a veterinarian to honor her hard work and to show her that I can achieve the dreams she has inspired me to pursue. Her tireless dedication to our family motivates me every day to study, learn, and grow, and I want to make her proud by reaching my full potential. She has taught me the value of perseverance, compassion, and responsibility, qualities I know are essential for a career in veterinary medicine. More than that, she has shown me that true leadership comes from caring for others, whether it’s your family, your community, or those who cannot speak for themselves, like the animals I hope to care for one day.
Being a first-generation student, I feel a responsibility to carry her example forward. Her resilience inspires me to give back, to work hard, and to build a legacy of dedication, kindness, and service. I want to use my education and future career to make a positive impact, just as she has made a lasting impact on my life. This scholarship would help me take the next step toward attending Long Island University and pursuing veterinary medicine, allowing me to continue the lessons she has instilled in me and dedicate myself to helping both animals and people in need. There is no one on this earth harder-working, kinder, and more dedicated than my mother, and I hope to honor her every day by striving to be the best I can be.

One specific instance where I actively contributed to my community was during my time volunteering at my former middle school’s after-school program. I spent countless hours helping the counselors with anything they needed, from organizing activities and cleaning classrooms to assisting students with homework and tutoring them. I also helped teachers by grading papers, organizing classrooms, and preparing materials for lessons. I chose to get involved because I have always found joy in helping others and wanted to make a positive impact on the students and staff who helped shape my own education. Being able to support them and make their days a little easier motivated me to give my time consistently, even when it meant sacrificing my lunch periods and free time.
One challenge I encountered was my age, which sometimes limited the types of volunteer opportunities I could take on. While I couldn’t always participate in larger programs, I learned to focus on the ways I could make a difference, no matter how small. I realized that consistent effort and a willingness to help were just as important as being involved in big projects. Volunteering in this way taught me patience, responsibility, and the value of giving back to the community. It also altered my belief that helping others, whether it’s students, teachers, or animals, can have a lasting impact and inspire others to do the same.
I plan to continue contributing to my community in the future by dedicating myself to a career in veterinary medicine. I am in the process of volunteering at the North Shore Animal League shelter and plan to start my training in the spring of 2026. Caring for animals has always been my passion, and I have also gained experience babysitting and taking care of my family members’ pets. I've been a helper my entire life, and there's nothing that would bring me better peace than becoming the veterinarian I have always dreamed of being. I want to be the voice for the voiceless and give animals the care and attention they deserve. By becoming a veterinarian, I will be able to make a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of animals and the people who love them. My past experiences volunteering in school and helping others have prepared me to continue giving back, and I am committed to dedicating my time, energy, and skills to serving both my community and the animals who depend on us.
For the Love of Pinot Memorial Scholarship and Dr. Rocky J. Deutsch Tribute
My life experiences have shaped my dream of becoming a Veterinary Technician and, hopefully, later on, earning my Ph.D. to become a Veterinarian. Ever since I was little, I’ve always had a love for animals. I remember feeding stray cats around my neighborhood, or helping lost dogs find their homes. Every time I helped an animal, I felt this deep happiness that stuck with me. Those little moments made me realize that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life, take care of animals who can’t take care of themselves, and make sure they feel safe and loved. Growing up, animals were always something that brought me a sense of peace. No matter what was happening around me, being near them made me feel calm. I think that’s where my passion for helping them really started. I want to be the person they can rely on when they’re sick, hurt, or scared. That’s why I’m so motivated to follow this career path.
I know it takes a lot of work and education, but I’m ready for that. I’ve never been afraid to work hard for something I truly care about. I’ve also always tried to give back to my community in any way I can. Volunteering at my former middle school has taught me a lot about responsibility and patience, as well as teamwork. I helped teachers by grading papers, organizing classrooms, and setting up for events. It might sound small, but those things showed me how good it feels to help others and be someone people can depend on. That experience reminded me that helping, no matter how big or small, always matters. I want to bring that same mindset into my career, helping animals the way I’ve helped people in my community.
Attending Long Island University would help me take the next big step toward making my dream a reality. LIU has the programs and hands-on experiences that will prepare me for the future I’ve always wanted. I’m excited to learn more about animal science and gain real experience that will help me in the field. This scholarship would make a huge difference for me because it would help take away some of the financial stress and let me fully focus on my studies and goals. My dream is to become a voice for the voiceless. I want to dedicate my life to caring for animals, making sure they are safe, healthy, and loved. Helping animals isn’t just something I want to do; it’s something I feel I’m meant to do. I want to make a positive difference in the world, one animal at a time.
USMC Sgt. Owen J. Lennon Memorial Scholarship
I plan to make a positive impact on the world by becoming a Veterinary Technician and hopefully working my way up to becoming a Veterinarian with my Ph.D. I’ve dreamed of this since I was a little girl. I’ve always loved animals, and the idea of being able to help them when they’re hurt or in need has always been something that motivates me. This scholarship will help me get closer to attending the college of my dreams, Long Island University. LIU has the education and opportunities that will help me grow into the career I’ve always wanted. Since I was young, I’ve cared deeply for every animal I’ve come across. Whether it was a stray cat or a lost dog, I always felt the need to help. That love for animals turned into a passion and a purpose. I want to be someone who gives them a voice and helps them live healthy, safe lives. Becoming a Vet is not just a job I want to do, but it’s something I feel I’m meant to do. Throughout school and in my community, I’ve always looked for ways to help others. I’ve volunteered at my old middle school, helping teachers with whatever they needed. I’ve graded papers, organized and cleaned classrooms, and helped prepare for school events. I am also in the process of volunteering at one of the best Animal Shelters out there, North Shore Animal League. I have applied to this animal shelter to volunteer and help to support the loving animals that are in need, and plan to start training in Spring of 2026. Doing those things taught me responsibility, patience, and the importance of giving back. Even the small things can make a big difference, and that’s something I carry with me in everything I do. This scholarship would mean so much to me because it would bring me closer to achieving my dream and allow me to focus on my education and future. My work will also pay tribute to the memory of Owen. One of Owen’s greatest accomplishments was protecting his country, and I want to honor that by helping and protecting the animals of this country. Just like Owen gave his all to serve, I want to give my all to animals who can’t speak for themselves. I want to be the voice of the voiceless and dedicate my life to making a difference, one animal at a time.
