This has been the driving sense of responsibility throughout my academic journey. The major challenges I had to overcome were the navigation of the educational system without a map from our family. My parents were supportive, but they did not know about the process of applying to college, pursuing financial aid options, or even what to expect at a higher education institution. Because of this fact, I had to figure out everything by myself, always by trial and error. Countless hours were spent researching scholarship opportunities, filling out applications, and seeking advice from mentors and school counselors. Of course, there were times when, despite her efforts, our resources weren't enough. One of those memories that still stays quite fresh in my mind is community harvest food bank. It wasn't just about getting food; it symbolized community support and reminded one of their vulnerability. The long lines and generosity of strangers passing by not only offered food but also added a touch of solidarity to our community. Although these visits were really humbling, they instilled in me a deep appreciation for community support and the role of empathy. Single-parent upbringing, per se, further complicated the lives we have chosen to lead. My mother was strong, yet always overwhelmed by the mountainous weight of responsibility. The absence of a consistent paternal figure meant she had to be both provider and protector, which is not an easy task. My choice of major, Business Administration at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne, is strategic as well as personal. My interest in business stems from a combination of passion, curiosity, and a drive to make a meaningful impact. Even when I was little I was always intrigued by the way companies work. I respected the entrepreneurs who could take an innovative idea and build a company around it, and I marveled at the managers who could take an organization and completely turn it around. This curiosity grew when I participated in many school projects and part time jobs where I experienced the need for strategic planning, leadership, and financial controls. My major is Business Administration, which attracted me because it covers a wide range of abilities and information. It provides a solid foundation in management, finance, marketing, and operations—all essential components for running a successful business. In studying these subjects, I am arming myself with the knowledge to be able to interpret and maneuver my way through the intricacies of business. My desire to create an impact in this field is driven by a vision to foster positive change through responsible business practices. I feel that business can and should be used for the good of society while making money. I want to be in a field where I can advocate sustainability, ethics, community involvement. For example, in how companies can be environmentally friendly and do good charities and spread out a great wave to their surrounding area. Personal experiences have also shaped my goals. Growing up, I witnessed the struggles of small businesses in my community. Many faced challenges due to limited resources and lack of effective management strategies. This exposure fueled my determination to support and empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). My goal is to assist these companies in succeeding by providing them with realistic answers and unique approaches to improve their functioning and competitive edge. I have goals to fulfill my career ambition. As far as school goes, I would like to do well in my classes, and hopefully do some internships and part time jobs so I can get some real world experience. This hands on experience will give me a feel for how a business works and also allow me to create a network of businessmen. Additionally, I plan to engage in extracurricular activities related to business, such as joining relevant clubs and participating in business competitions, to further develop my skills and knowledge. Beyond academics, personal growth is crucial. I am also dedicated to lifelong learning and keeping myself informed of changes in the field and what practices are most effective. I also believe in the importance of resilience and adaptability—qualities that will help me navigate the dynamic nature of the business world. In summary, my choice to pursue Business Administration is fueled by a genuine interest in understanding and influencing the business world.

Education is one of the strong forces that shape and mold our lives to enable us to open the door to new opportunities. For me, education has not been about attendance, grades, or seeing the finality of a letter. It has been about personal growth, gaining confidence, and acquiring those skills necessary in pursuit of my dreams. Growing up as a child, I did not really appreciate the value of education. It wasn't until later in life, when certain challenges faced me, that truly the import of an education began to be deeply appreciated. Today, I look upon it as the very foundation of success at both professional and personal levels. Among the serious impacts of education in my life, probably, would be the one related to broadening my outlook. That is to say, within the frames of my studying, I have been exposed to various points of view and ideas, which otherwise I would never have been familiar with. Such experiences taught me how to be open-minded, to question assumptions, and welcome new experiences. For example, leadership involvement during family events allowed me to understand how important problem-solving and communication are. These are skills I have been encouraged in through education and that are helpful in whichever career I choose. Besides, education so far has helped me develop a sense of responsibility and discipline. My GPA at high school was not as good as I could have wished, neither was my motivation. But as time went on, I came to learn that education is not restricted to numbers and grades; it's a journey of self-improvement. Right now, having been at college for some time, I take my studies seriously, since every lesson means progress toward spending a far better future. That sense of pride and accomplishment in mastering the subject is what makes me stick it out during times when things get hard. Education has also granted me confidence to pursue opportunities and try new things outside my comfort zone. Such was my desire to learn how businesses run and how, one day, I could manage my own that inspired me to choose Business Administration here at Ivy Tech. Though I am still contemplating whether this is indeed the right major for me, I surely do realize that knowledge gained so far in this course is priceless. It has afforded me an opportunity to view the world from a different perspective: it helped to develop my entrepreneurial skills and thinking critically about the challenges businesses face. Even though I might change my academic focus, I am quite sure that the foundation built will suffice, come what may. In conclusion, education is important as it prepares us to face life's challenges and arms us with ways of moving through the world with confidence. It added huge value to my life by enabling me to grow intellectually, emotionally, and personally. It instills resilience, drive, and curiosity in me. Further education tends to open up vistas and bring in success envisioned for oneself.
