Ella Katherine Harris Memorial Scholarship for Bakers
What inspires me to bake is the passion I have towards making baked goods, and how I have always baked with my family. As of right now, I have been in a culinary class at my technical school for almost two years, and whenever I bake something off for either myself, or even others, I have always been told I do really good, and every time I make something I always improve. Decorating cupcakes is my favorite in my opinion, and cakes are so incredibly fun to mess around with, and try different things with. I have always had a passion for baking, and decorating treats ever since I was a little kid, and that is my dream goal in life, to pursue my passion for opening my own bakery when I am older. Trying out different recipes with the buttercream, frosting, and whip cream for cupcakes, and cakes are so incredibly fun, and unique to me, because not one recipe is the same, and it can always turn out differently, even if it's by the color, texture, or taste. My goal in life to achieve from baking is to open my own bakery, and sell different types of baked goods. As a senior in high school, I am almost graduating in a month, and I am applying to go to college for business, in order to get more information on how to open my own bakery, and on how to run a well successful business. Owning a bakery is very tedious, and a very big task that you have to have patience about or it will not be run well. The process of making baked goods relies heavily on trusting the process, and having the ability to be creative and artsy. The easiest thing in my opinion can be either cupcakes, or angel old cake. My weakest ability is definitely with cookies, because I dislike crunchy cookies, only soft ones, so I can never get it right. Ever since I could remember, I have always had such a big interest in baking, especially with my parents. I’ve always baked muffins, and cookies with my dad. I believe that is a reason I want to pursue baking for my future, and why I have always loved being in the kitchen doing what I enjoy, and love. Right now in my culinary class for school, I am currently working on eclairs, and they are such a new thing for me, and I really enjoy them so much! The many different steps they take to make the puff pastry, the cream in the middle, and also the ganache on the top all pair together so well. Finally, my main goal in life is to open my own bakery, and have some type of bakery business from either my own shop that I open, or even if things don’t go too well, I can sell, and ship baked goods from my own home. This is why I believe that I should receive the scholarship, because the money from the award will go straight to college in order to let me achieve my goal in having a bakery business.
Marlene Manning Scholarship
I am a Senior in high school who is attending to Cecil country school of technology. I am going to the technical school for Culinary arts. My goal in life is to open my own bakery, and to attend collage for Baking and Pastry, which I am attending to Delaware Tehnical community collage in the fall of 2026 for. Baking and pastry makes me have so much happiness in life, ever since I was little. Baking and Pastry arts are very easy for me, and I would love to purse in it for my future. This scholarship would help me, and my goals because it will give me the better opportunity to have less stress on me, and my family, financially, and mentally wise to be able to attend collage. I would also like to attend collage later on in life after baking and pastry for business, to better be able to understand how to open, and run my own business, and store. This scholarship would also help me to be able to put my money towards going to collage, for my associates degrees in baking and pastry in the new few 6-12 months. Baking and Pastry arts has always been such an interest in me, ever since I was a little kid. It is not always about having fun, but the satisfaction from guests, and customers. That kind of satisfaction that shows on peoples faces is also what makes me happy, and also bring me more passion on following my dreams. What sets me apart from others is my dedication, and passion to pursue in this future I want to attend to, and to be able to brighten others days upon the actions that may affect them brightly. I have always baked treats with my mom, and dad as a little kid, and now I bake at home alone, with family, and also at school to better my ability’s. Furthering my education will allow me to be able to have more skills on baking, decorating, and also opening my own business with treats, and pastries. This schoolarship money will also help me be more successful in the world because it would help me be able to save my personal money on practicing more treats, and also help me be able to teach more people in my business on how a place should be run, how the treats should be made, and etc. As a kid, baking treats have always been such a dream, and as I have grown older, my passion has just increased more with time. Opening my own buisness as a bakery owner after collage will truly complete all of my childhood, and teen dreams. Awarding me this scholarship will help me be able to achieve this dream that I have always thought about, and will give me a little bit of a boost in order to purchase, and strive my confidence higher in order to complete it.
