Bio

Hello, I’m Alyssa Hall. I’m a Senior at Silverton, Texas High School. I’m a great candidate because I always put 110% into my work and future for college. My goal is to become a nurse and then work my way to becoming a surgeon to help those in need. I’m a type one diabetic, so helping others in need medically has always been a dream of mine. In my years of high school, I’ve been involved in many extracurricular’s. I’ve been an FFA member and I was the Historian, I’ve been in the National Honors Society for 3 years, and I’ve been present in going to Rocksalt which is Wednesday church. This year I recently joined the First Baptist Church on Sunday’s, every other Sunday I help the church with Babysitting, I also recently involved myself in Friday Bible studies with Rocksalt. I’ve done many sports throughout my high school career including, Basketball, Track, Cross Country, and Cheerleading. I’ve been involved with Community Service, which we do every year with the school, where we take a day and clean the whole town. Hello, my name is Alyssa Hall, I am currently a senior at Silverton High School. I was diagnosed with type one diabetes at the age of five. I’ve now been living with this autoimmune disease for 12 years. Before I was diagnosed with type one diabetes, my dream was to become a model, like the ones you see in television commercials. I had no intention of losing my passion for becoming a model until I was diagnosed. I had to grow up a lot faster than other kids in my class since being diagnosed. I remember sitting in the hospital bed and a nurse came in, she was so sweet and assured me that I would get through this. She taught me and my parents how to give a shot with an orange. I thought that was the coolest thing in my life. Something that night had just clicked for me, I had realized I wanted to be just like her. I talked about being a doctor every day for years about how I wanted to help kids with type one diabetes. Once I had gotten older and learned that in a hospital there are doctors, nurses, surgeons, and more, I looked into all of them. My sophomore year was when I realized that I wanted to be a nurse and help all kinds of people. I learned that I can choose a specialty that fits me and one that I will enjoy. My goal to become a nurse is to help people in need of medical care. I would love to work in a hospital that has an emergency room, I love the adrenaline rush and helping people who need it fast. I also would love to be a pediatric nurse, because I'm really good with kids and sometimes being a nurse can be devastating but kids make it 10x better. Being a nurse would be an absolute honor, it would make me feel so proud of myself when someone asks what my career is and I tell them that I am a nurse who helps people. I’m not becoming a nurse for the “money” or for “myself” but I’m becoming a nurse because It’s my passion to help others, It’s my passion to make people feel welcome, It’s my passion to care for others. When I do become a nurse, I've made a big decision to give back to the hospital that I am working at. I want to donate some of my money to help people who can't afford insurance or people who can't pay their medical bills. I’ve even considered becoming a surgeon after my nursing degree because I love the idea of making someone’s life better. I appreciate your consideration!

The movie of choice that I would watch for the rest of my life would be "Barbie"! I picked this movie because it has so much meaning and is hard to get bored of. It shows young women the world and how we should be towards each other. It shows us that we all should be kind and courteous towards each other. I feel like whenever Barbie came out in theatres everyone's expectations were very much exceeded. Almost everyone was not expecting the new Barbie movie to be the way it was. People thought it was going to be very cute and not heartfelt in the way it was heartfelt. I feel like this movie most definitely touched many women's hearts, it made young and older women feel like they are noticed and they are not alone in the world. It showed how many people don't notice our elderly women as much as we should. It also made younger women seen as a whole in today's society. I remember that day so vividly, and my friends went to go watch Barbie a couple of days after it had come out in theatres. We live about an hour away from Amarillo so we had a drive a little bit longer than some people would have to. Before we went to watch the movie we went to get dinner at Whataburger. Then after that, we finally decided that it was time for the movie and that it was starting soon. We got there and we all decided to get popcorn because I suggested that we all get some popcorn because this was going to be a good movie. We sat down at our assigned seating area and they were about to start showing the movie. I remember before the movie started as we were sitting at our seats, this big group of people came in and all of them even the boys were all dressed head to toe in pink. Almost everyone in that theatre was wearing pink including me. The movie started and the beginning of the movie was so cheerful and happy. It shows Barbie land and how everything in Barbie Land is perfect and magical. Later on in the movie, Barbie and Ken travel to the real world, where it's all reality. It showed how everything wasn't perfect and how it wasn't as magical as Barbie Land was. They needed to fix this problem and return to their home. They found the older lady who created Barbie and talked to her, at this point almost the whole theatre was crying. It was very heartfelt and it meant a lot to women. I chose this movie because it has so much meaning to me as a woman in today's society.
