I read books multiple times a month.
I am a single mom to two kids who has been dealt a crazy hand of cards. I have faced so many challenges in life that would have caused many others to give up, but instead, I keep pushing and I keep fighting to do better. I have two young children who look to me for guidance and I want to show them that no matter what life throws at you, you have to keep standing up and keep moving forward. My greatest motivation is my mother who was also a single mom and who I never saw give up even on her darkest days. After overcoming addiction and being the daughter of an addict father, I knew I wanted to be an addictions counselor working in a substance abuse and mental health rehab. I want to be that person in their corner when they feel like everyone else in their life has given up on them. Addiction does not discriminate and it is my passion to help those who truly need it. To help them get back on their feet and find their passion again. I think it would be even more special to know that I have weathered the storm of addiction and I found myself on the other side. That lets them know that I know what it's like to feel like you aren't in control of your own actions and to feel powerless.
