Bio

Hello, My name is Alycia Hernandez. I have been in EMS for around 5 years as an AEMT and I am currently attending Paramedic school. I have completed a Fire Science degree with the hope and plan to continue my EMS career as a career Firefighter. I was exposed to my hometown firefighters and paramedics taking care of my grandparents when they needed it and always strived to be like them. I strived to be someone who can help in stressful situations, work as a team and really just be able to think quick and have solutions in emergency situations. I have been taking care of myself and working since i was teenager. I have put myself through college with out the help of loans by working full time while also going to school. My goal is to achieve all my academic goals without out having to obtain personal school loans and occurring debt. I hope all my hard work and dedication to my career in Emergency Medicine is recognized and appreciated. Receiving scholarships would help me by allowing me to focus most days on my studies and not having to work more overtime and more days to have to save up to the pay tuition and book costs. I would be very appreciative and grateful. Thank you for your time.

Hello, My name is Alycia Hernandez. I have been in EMS for around 5 years as a full time AEMT and I am currently attending Paramedic school. I have completed and graduated college with a Fire Science degree with the hope and plan to continue my EMS career as a career Firefighter. I have also completed tons of hours continued education classes, ACLS, Firefighter 1 and 2 and many other certifications. I come from a childhood of growing up being raised by my grandparents due to having mother who is an addict. My grandparents were in older ages when i was in middle school and high school, with that being said i saw first hand how health conditions and aging comes with its different challenges. I have also known first hand the challenges a child/adult with an addict parent goes through, due to that situation i have been taking care of myself and working since i was teenager. I started therapy when i was 20 to work the struggles and feelings i had dude to having a parent as an addict which in turn helped me become more empathetic and patient when it came to responding to 911 calls involving behavioral health. Growing up with my grandparents taught my valuable lessons of hard work and independence. Ive appreciated the strength and growth that it taught me but it has not come without its struggles and lessons. I have put myself through college with out the help of loans by working full time while also going to school. My goal is to achieve all my academic goals without out having to obtain personal school loans and occurring debt. So far in my education process ive been grateful enough to be able to work full time and go to school at the same time. I hope all my hard work and dedication to my career in Emergency Medicine is recognized and appreciated. I was exposed to my hometown firefighters and paramedics having to respond to my grandparents when they needed it and always strived to be like someone like that. I strived to be someone who can help in stressful situations, work as a team and really just be able to think quick and have solutions in emergency situations. Receiving scholarships would help me by allowing me to focus most days on my studies and not having to work more overtime and more days to have to save up to the pay tuition and book costs. Receiving scholarships would also bring my stress levels down with having to not only work to pay bills but to also pay tuition. There is never a “good” time to go to school so knowing i would have to work twice as hard at school and work to make money was expected but i knew there would never be a perfect time for me to start Paramedic school but i knew it would be worth it once i finished. Receiving scholarship money would be incredibly helpful. I would be very appreciative and grateful. Thank you for your time.
