Who I am:
I am a third-year, goal-driven collegiate student-athlete pursuing a Computer Science major. My interests span both back and front-end technologies. I am currently sharpening my skills in C# and C++ programming languages while having a strong foundation in others like Java, Python, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and PHP. In addition to my foundational knowledge of software development, I've been fascinated by the dynamic nature of web development, particularly using React.js. I've integrated the essential tool Git for effective version control in my personal and academic projects.
My driven curiosity mindset and analytical skills are what fuel my problem-solving approach. Beyond just writing code, I have a growing interest in the tech side of product management, aspiring to ensure that the best product reaches the client. As a continuous learner and growth mindset advocate, I resonate with this quote: "I don't know everything yet, but whatever I don't know, I can figure it out fast. I don't give up."

I was supposed to be an artist. With a pink convertible and a lifetime supply of chocolate ice cream. No seriously. As a child, my world was a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes. Since I can remember, my youngest self has been in love with art, painting, crafting, and putting random scraps of paper together to make something ‘abstract.’ My early love for art was not just about creating something beautiful; it was about turning nothing, a blank empty canvas, into something extraordinary, about the joy of creation itself.
In my last year of high school, this love for creation found a new form when, quite by chance, I took AP Computer Science Principles. It was a shot in the dark, a choice made with little knowledge of what lay ahead. Yet, what began as a blind leap evolved into a defining journey. In this class, I discovered Scratch, a block coding program, and soon found myself deeply immersed. I created a myriad of projects, ranging from a simple password generator to a mini-version of Pac-Man. It was here that I realized my passion for technology and creativity were not mutually exclusive but rather complementary.
My primary goal in the field of computer science is to become a software engineer, a dream that seamlessly unites my childhood love for creation with my fascination for technology. Specifically, I am drawn to front-end development due to my profound interest in user experience and design. The process of crafting websites and enhancing the interaction between technology and the consumer deeply resonates with me. In front-end development, there is a unique freedom to create designs that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. This aspect particularly appeals to the artistic and creative side of my personality. It offers an opportunity to scratch that creative itch, blending the technical and the artistic in a harmonious dance that brings digital canvases to life. However, my ambitions extend beyond the realm of software engineering, and I want to give back.
My non-computer science goals center around being a resource and informing younger individuals in my community about the resources and opportunities in the tech industry. Contrary to the well-known adage, "It's not what you know, it's who you know," I firmly believe in the principle of "It's what you don't know." I can speak from experience, having gone through three years of college. When I entered college, I was astounded by the seemingly infinite array of resources, information, and programs available. It was like exploring the many arms of an octopus - I didn't know where to look or where to go. In fact, I was overwhelmed by the multitude of paths before me and the realization that so many of these tech industries and majors were completely new to me; why didn't I know about any of this before? I have come to understand the transformative power of mentorship and information, particularly for those who lack direct access to these crucial resources.
In conclusion, my journey from an aspiring artist (with dreams of driving top down in a pink convertible) to an aspiring software engineer illustrates a deep-seated passion for creation, be it on a blank canvas or code or a new file in VSCode. My experiences have shaped me into a resilient, creative, and driven individual, ready to tackle the challenges of the tech world with an end goal to contribute back to my community. As I step into the future, I carry with me the lessons of my past, ready to blend art and science in ways that can redefine what is possible.
