I am passionate about animal care and dedicated to improving lives of wildlife. My goal is to become a form of veterinary in order to treat wildlife animals. I have gained experience through volunteering with my uncle who is a veterinarian for horses. This has strengthened my commitment to this career. I am eager to continue my education and develop the skills necessary to make a positive impact in the veterinary field.

Our Destiny Our Future Scholarship
My aspiration to become a wildlife veterinarian stems from deep desire to address the critical challenges animals face due to global warming. This environmental crisis is leading to species extinction and severely impacting wildlife. Pollution is a great impact to global warming. Pollution contaminates their water and destroys their natural habitats. Causing them to be vulnerable. Sadly many animals pass away daily from ingesting discarded trash and human-made objects. In addition many animals may not survive due to the warmer environments. For example, the climate change affects the reproductive system of sea turtles. Due to global warming the sand where sea turtles lay their eggs are altered. Warmer sands produces significantly more female hatchlings, causing a great change in their sex ratio threatening their reproductive system. Another example would be migratory birds, due to rising temperatures it causes the birds to "mismatch" in ecosystems. This means birds will arrive to breeding grounds well before their traditional food sources emerge. Causing birds to have a harder time getting food and less offsprings to survive and instead starve.
My goal is to not only help these animals recover and thrive but also to establish a safe shelter where they can heal and regain their strength. In addition also Crete environments where they can reproduce safely to ensure survival. Through this goal I also hope to bring more awareness to this issue and inspire others to adapt more environmentally conscious daily practices. I would also like to aim to contact with environmental activists to potentially lead educational sessions on sustainable actions, thereby amplifying our collective message. Through the shelter I would be able to show the negative effects of pollution and global warming.
I've been lead to this goal as I have a love for animals. I grew up in a farm where we have animals such as cows, horses, dogs, cats, sheep, goats, birds, and chicken. Growing up in this environment I have learned the importance of every animal In order for there to be a balance in the life cycle. Once an animal goes extinct there is a negative impact that takes time to adapt. Growing up I have noticed more and more the negative effects our actions have caused. This issue continues to become a greater problem. Especially now with the rise of AI use. For example, AI uses significant amounts of drinking water for their cooling systems polluting not only what animals drink but also what we are able to drink. I would like to be a small part of the solution.

I began to play guitar at age 11 in 6th grade. While I had the option to choose any instrument, I was set on the guitar. I first selected guitar as my elective but as the class was full, I ended up chasing mariachi with the same intention of learning guitar. Unfortunately, school was through zoom due to the covid pandemic. The class was still handed instruments but our teacher, Mr. Young, could only do so much to help us. So instead we focused more on music theory rather than the actual instrument. I am forever grateful for Mr. Young's decision because his decision made it easier to learn guitar and read sheet music. I was able to teach myself some things before returning to school. I ended up staying in mariachi for the next two years of middle school. I enjoyed playing guitar and expressing myself and culture. Since it was an elective and I didn't have personal guitar I was only able to borrow one during the school year. I begged my parents to get me a personal guitar so for my 13th birthday I finally got one.
I continued playing throughout the summer and ended up selecting guitar as my elective for my first year of high school. I was able to focus on guitar and understand the instrument. I learned more about the music theory specifically for guitar. And I learned my own pieces outside of school. Sophomore year I chose to do advance guitar as my elective and I was able to join a guitar quartet and a larger ensemble. We did 2 festivals and were able to perform at a few concerts. I was even offered to play guitar for a choir assemble as they sang a collection of Battle songs. Unfortunately my school doesn't offer any more guitar classes so I had to choose other electives, still along the lines of performing arts.
I kept playing outside of school since it helped me express myself. Playing guitar helped me process trauma and helped me build confidence. During sophomore and junior year I performed in front of the school at our talent show. During Sophomore year I sang and played guitar on my own and during junior year I sang with a band of four. Guitar has helped me in many ways, such as finding my love for music.
