Bio

I'm Allison Pratt, a senior graduating from Sandhoke Early College HS and the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics Online. I will be receiving my Associate of Arts from Sandhills Community College. Also, I have received 60 college acceptances! I’m passionate about community service, dedicating hours to Habitat for Humanity, NY food pantries, SandHoke tutoring, Wilmington beach cleanups, and more. I am actively involved in programs like: -Mu Alpha Theta National Math Honor Society -National Honor Society -Science National Honor Society -Star Docent at Fayetteville State University’s Planetarium.  -National Beta Club -Science Olympiad -NC School of Science & Mathematics Student Ambassadors -NC Governor's School During my summers, I had the chance to spend a week at the Research Triangle Institute, where I explored solutions to global issues such as climate change, agricultural faults, and public health, all while honing skills in networking, interviewing, and professional development. My passion for science and research also led me to attend the Summer Ventures in Science and Math program at UNC Wilmington. In the Biochemistry Lab under the guidance of Dr. Wang, I conducted research in Biotechnology and Biomedical Science for 4 weeks. In a group of 3, I designed a Gene Therapy pharmaceutical to modify the genetic effects of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Additionally, in the North Carolina Governor’s School Program, I collaborated in experiments on E. Coli while studying areas like Epidemiology, Astronomy, and the Gut Microbiome for a month at Greensboro College.

        North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics Summer Ventures — Within a 3 member group to create our Gene Therapy pharmaceutical design, research paper, and final presentation.

        Raeford-Hoke Museum — During Downtown Christmas, the museum is open for everyone to enjoy the history of our town. There are multiple exhibits in the museum, and I can be a spokesperson for an entire exhibit. The audience tours as I explain items & documents in the room.

        Senior Beta Club — I contributed to the packaging of shoe boxes with donated toys for Operation Christmas Child. With other members of my school’s Beta Club, we were able to make over 40 boxes filled with toys & other items a kid may need.

        Plastic Ocean Project — While in a summer program I was attending I did beach cleanup at Wilmington Beach in NC. It was especially beneficial to do this since it was right after the Fourth of July. There was tons of trash left so cleanup was essential.

        Habitat for Humanity — I’m granted the chance to help build and repair homes for families in need within my community. I have assisted in landscaping and cleaning up inside of houses after framing is completed.

        Spring Branch Missionary Baptist Church — I assist in cooking and serving in my church’s kitchen every 4th Sunday for the congregation since I was young years old. I also help set up and decorate tables if there’s a special event occurring.
