Bio

My goal for education is to get to doing something I love for the rest of my life. I am currently working towards the nursing program at the local technology university. I love my animals and they bring much joy. I am also known as the old lady because I wear sweaters all the time and one of my favorite pass times is crocheting blankets for the people I love. I also greatly enjoy music not only listening to it but creating and playing it. In pursuit of my goals I have tried to do it as fast as I could. I graduated high school early and graduated at 16 with being only a few credits away from my associates degree. Throughout all of school I was in the grifted and talented programs and the NHS program. I am ready to get to doing something I love I just need a little help financially in order to make that goal possible.

My great grandma is the reason I want to be a nurse. On the first day of my current RN program they asked what is one word that inspires you. My answer is quality. I want to be able to supply a better quality of patient care. Growing up when I was really young my great grandma was paralyzed from the waist down so she required constant care. As a kid I was in charge of changing her clothes and helping her get ready for the day. Later on she was hospitalized and then moved to a permanent care facility. While she was in the hospital setting she did not receive the greatest care. So I am motivated to make sure that all patients are able to feel loved and validated in their stay. I want to create a better quality in my patients life and my own to be able to fulfills life I can be proud of.

Through my education I am working to help people. I want to make an impact on everyone of my patients. Even if they don’t know my name I would like them to remember my face and kindness. I will do everything I can to help them mentally and physically.

Music changes everything! People use music to influence moods, feelings and create an environment for even healing. Music can cause stimulation to muscles and neurons causing advanced healing. On a less physical note music can influence mood. When people are hopeful or optimistic they are more likely to heal. In organ donation if a recipient doesn’t want the heart they can reject it but if the music they listened to could make even the slightest difference maybe their lives could be saved. I choose to give back to my community when I get my Nursing degree by working at local hospitals. When I was younger my brother was kneed in the face and had a pretty good busted eyebrow. Though there wasn’t anything more serious there could have been. He had to wait in that waiting room for 4 hours with a head injury. When I go into nursing I hope to decrease waiting room times especially for children and those who need help. I hope the hard work I will put into my patients can make a difference in their experience and their health.

One female leader that has made a huge impact on my life is Suzie Joki. Suzi has been fighting cancer a large portion of her adult life and has had bad days but always has a smile and a warm heart for anyone who needs it. If you have ever met her the saying runs true that she could run her own small country. I hope to be like Suzi in life because things get hard and ruff but I don’t want it to affect me to the point of it ruining my life. There is not need for that. I want to be a leader through discipline and compassion in life. To be loved and trusted.
    Diabetes Impact Scholarship
I have chosen the general field of nursing. In my family there has always been a long line of health issues that could use some inside help especially as people get older. It wasn’t until recently though diabetes really hit close to home for me and made a push towards working with those type of people. So in my family being diabetic was you just got the gene and you’ll be fine if you take insulin for the rest of your life. But it wasn’t until my little sister had a diabetic episode where her sugar bottomed out and scared the mess out of me because at the time I had no idea what to do. I called our parents and they told me what to do. What could have happened if I wasn’t able to reach anyone would she have been okay? Why wasn’t knowledge like this given to me before it became a problem? I don’t want anyone else to have to feel this way because they might not know what to do. That is one of the reasons why I am going into the nursing career field.

My mother has impacted my life in many ways. Most are not the traditional loving aspect that most people have with their moms. A few ways my moms has impacted my life be a drive, pursuit of Christ Jesus, and a push in education. My mother has always tried to get me do keep going. I was never allowed to quit something till I had done one full round or season depending on what it was. She was also the person who never gave up on me when she found Christ for herself then she brought me to him as well and I learned my love for God originally from her. Lastly, she never let me or expect less than greatness for my education. I was always pushed even from a young age that what everyone else done isn’t always acceptable because it wasn’t the best I could do. My mom also gave me a hard loving stand point. You can do it and do it right.
