I am a future cosmetology student. I attended Ohio University for nursing and elementary education but eventually realized that is not what I wanted to do. I soon plan to start my journey as a cosmetologist. From wanting to be a teacher to being a nurse, but those paths never seemed to be a good fit for me. I had no passion for human biology or standing in front of 20 children talking about the quadratic formula. What do those careers have in common? They all help people. Since I was in late elementary school, I have always had a passion for hair and makeup. All summer long I would be doing hair and makeup on my neighbors and cousins. Whether it will be volunteering at homeless shelters offering haircuts or simply making someone feel more confident by changing their hair after a hardship. I want to make a positive difference in people's lives. My lifelong goal is to bring joy and confidence to people around me. I do not want finances to stand in the way of my passion for others. A cosmetologist is more than a person who plays with hair and makeup; they are a friend, therapist, confidante, and a life-changer. I strive to be the person who makes people feel worthy of love or happiness, and as a cosmetologist, I can do that.
