Bio

Being a person that enjoys adventures, meeting new cultures outside of the general public, and working with the general public. I have always found connections with people I meant at any destination. I keep an open mind when hearing different opinions from my own and I show them respect. By showing these personality traits I decided that I wanted to venture out my knowledge into the field of Cultural Anthropology. Anthropology is a field I'm passionate about because I like to learn and understand how other people view the world outside of their own cultural backgrounds. Understanding their world of where they came from betters my understanding of how they were so well adapted into their own belief systems. Whether it's religious, political, or spiritual. Being a candidate for the scholarship offers me an opportunity to achieve my goal of becoming a Cultural Anthropologist. Adventuring outside the world of my own helps formulate a better understanding of how they "connect" to the general population outside of their own world. Right now at the University of Indiana Pennsylvania, I'm also working towards a double major of becoming a Bio-Medical student working in Pathology. I choose Bio-Medical because I was just recently in the hospital for ten days and the experience changed my viewpoint into working for the hospital.

I want to pursue higher education because I don't want to struggle like my parents are. We had the electricity, water, and a couple of other essential items turned off. Because my parents couldn't afford to pay the bills in the summer, not only to afford my college education. I'm most passionate about becoming a Cultural Anthropologist and a Bio-medical scientist. Why? Because I been always good at customer communication when I worked in customer service at Giant. And, I been in the hospital for ten days to become a double major college student.

Hi everyone my name is Alissa DeGreen, I'm 23 years old currently attending the University of Indiana Pennsylvania for a Bachelor's of Social Science and science degree. I'm doing a double major in Cultural Anthropology and Bio-Medical science at IUP. I'm a first-generation college student that graduated with my Associate's of Arts degree last year from Reading Area Community College. I always wanted to become an Anthropologist and major in pathology but with a single parent financing all the expenses, it makes my dreams become less of a reality and more like a dream. Right now, I'm striving to finish my Bachelor's degree in both fields so I can try to persist on to attain both Doctoral degree in my fields of study.:)

My Favorite scientist is the 18th-century Swedish botanist, zoologist, and taxonomist extra named Carl Linnaeus. CarI Linnaeus introduced the taxonomy of animals into modern Biological Anthropology for us to study the origin of our own evolution.

Having a degree in Cultural Anthropology and Bio-medical science has always been my ambition from the very beginning since I enrolled in college. I want to study anthropology and Bio - medical science in college to advance my understanding of the general public coming from an Anthropologist perspective. On how we collaborate together in one society despite our different traditions, religious, and political views. Learning and seeing the world from a different perspective expands my knowledge of how to view humanity as a whole. Bio - medical science elaborates that understanding by helping the general public out and still learning their cultural viewpoints.
