I read books multiple times a week.
Throughout high school, I developed leadership skills and my personal identity. I participated in Student Ambassadors, volleyball, soccer, French Club, and Christmas Club. My personal growth also came from community experiences. For years, I have volunteered at the Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach Program, where I sort donated medical supplies to be shipped to small communities in 3rd world countries. Another example is my involvement in Catholic H.E.A.R.T. Workcamp. This service camp allows youth to come together within an unfamiliar community filled with various needs and populations of people. I worked with teenagers from all over the Midwest to provide service for veterans, nursing homes, schools, and impoverished families. These experiences have given me a respect for people with diverse needs and have laid the foundation for my intended field of study and career path. I want to study forensic psychology and social work to eventually help children in juvenile detention centers. Recently, I was selected to spend a day at the FBI building in Springfield. This reinforced how much I want to be a part of something bigger than myself. I immediately connected to the FBI’s motto, “fidelity, bravery, and integrity,” and could see myself working in this government organization as a victim specialist so that I could combine my interests in helping people with working for the FBI. I now intend to study forensic psychology and social work in college before attempting to get into the FBI.
