I’m Alicia native of Florida and mother to 4 children, currently pursuing my bachelors of Nursing Degree. I’m seeking opportunities for a scholarship in order to differentiate the costs of higher education and not collect student loan debt. My family is low income as I make an hourly wage. I work in the healthcare industry. Although income is stable during tourist season which is only about five months out of the year when my husband makes the most income. We often struggle with the remaining months.
I already have student loan debt and though I feel continuing my education will enhance my skills and therefore offer me an opportunity for better pay. Collecting more student loan debt will only take away from what my increased income will be and cause more stress and instability.
Obtaining a BS or higher in Nursing opens opportunities in many job fields not just in a hospital. I could take my career path in many directions as the doors open for me. With a scholarship, more opportunities for me to achieve my degree and career goals are possible without placing limitations on a higher education because of the costs. My potential to future employers will be recognized as a more attractive candidate with the competitive nature of having been awarded a scholarship as an accomplishment.
Personally, a scholarship will allow me to be a better parent and more involved person with the community. With lower student loan debt, I don’t have to take away time from my family to work longer days or multiple jobs to pay down the debt.

Tyde Memorial Scholarship
My mother was a single teenage mother and never completed high school, just as her mother before her. However, she did go on to get her GED. I am the first to earn a bachelor’s degree, much less go to college with my known family. I am pursuing a bachelor’s in nursing and want to continue my education to a doctorate level. I will be studying neonatal care as a critical care nurse practitioner.
I currently work for a catholic healthcare organization as a medical assistant for the last three years and want to continue with their ministry in their women's and children's hospitals.
I am married; however, my husband has no college background, just a GED. Together we have four children. I live in one of the lowest-income counties, Escambia County Florida. I am striving to set a good example for my children to pursue their career goals, especially with my husband being unemployed since September 2021.
I enjoy my days spending time with my children, helping at their school, participating in community involvement activities at local national parks to raise awareness of the human footprint. I'm a beach enthusiast and love soaking up the rays, however, I am actively involved in beach clean-ups and sea turtle awareness with the National Park Service. My family and I often take an evening walk on the beach although pleasing we like to make sure trash and obstacles are removed so that sea turtles can make their way about.
I have applied for every scholarship that I could find that was legitimate among so many frauds out there. I appreciate your consideration. I was given a second chance to live as an infant, so I want to give back by helping the tiniest of patients. A scholarship means the world to me as it allows me to get one step closer to my education goals without the stress of added student loans that I fear I will eventually have to require more of. I already have student loan debt and though I feel continuing my education will enhance my skills and therefore offer me an opportunity for better pay. Collecting more student loan debt will only take away from what my increased income will be and cause more stress and instability.
Personally, a scholarship will allow me to be a better parent and a more involved person with the community. With lower student loan debt, I don’t have to take away time from my family to work longer days or multiple jobs to pay down the debt. I can be more involved in volunteering at my children's school or my local national parks, cleaning the beach, and scouting out sea turtle nests, which I love to do.

Charles Cheesman's Student Debt Reduction Scholarship
I can definitely focus more on giving back to the community. I am Alicia, a native of Florida and mother to 4 children, currently pursuing Bachelor's of science in Nursing. I am seeking opportunities for a scholarship to differentiate the costs of higher education and not collect student loan debt. My family is low income as I make an hourly wage working in the healthcare industry. Although income is stable during tourist season which is only about five months out of the year when my husband makes the most income, we often struggle with the remaining months.

Obtaining a BS or higher in Nursing opens opportunities in many job fields not just in a hospital. I could take my career path in many directions as the doors open for me. When I first started school for my RN program, I honestly had no idea where I wanted to be and what I wanted to do. I started working my way through clinicals in medical-surgical oncology and orthopedics with Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola, FL. I have been with Ascension’s Catholic ministries for about three years now and I want to continue my work with them.
Coming to the end of my clinicals, I was given the opportunity to work in Ascension’s women and children’s hospital. I fell in love with NICU level 3. Walking in and seeing those tiny babies and the strong nurses that were giving these babies their chance at life ignited something in me. In all my clinicals I had never felt so right where I need to be. I also had the opportunity to help in labor and delivery, which again felt right.
I aspire to see myself working in critical care in the NICU. I have joined the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (ACCN). These associations have given me the advantage of taking some engaging courses to further my education more specifically in critical care for neonates. I see myself continuing in my education to become a nurse practitioner, hopefully in neonatal care. I want to set a good example for my children and show them that no matter what you can attain your goals.
With a scholarship, more opportunities for me to achieve my degree and career goals are possible without placing limitations on a higher education because of the costs. My potential to future employers will be recognized as a more attractive candidate with the competitive nature of having been awarded a scholarship as an accomplishment.
