From an early age, I have been captivated by the profound impact that healthcare professionals have on people's lives. Their ability to heal, provide comfort, and make a positive difference in the world has inspired me to embark on a journey in the medical field. My biggest influence to pursue a career in the medical field was the show Greys Anatomy, "Grey's Anatomy" showcases the dedication, resilience, and compassion required to work in the medical field. The characters' passion for saving lives and making a difference motivated me, because we shared similar aspirations. While the show may take creative liberties for dramatic effect, it still presents medical cases and procedures that mirror real-life situations. The portrayal of medical scenarios and the complex decision-making process sparked my curiosity and interest into the healthcare field. The show portrays the high-pressure environment of a hospital and the emotional toll it can take on healthcare professionals. By watching how the characters cope with stress, overcome obstacles, and navigate their personal and professional lives, I have gained insight into the resilience required in the healthcare field. I feel as if in some way this show has prepared me for the challenges that I may face and inspire me to develop effective coping mechanisms. "Grey's Anatomy" emphasizes the importance of teamwork and the relationships between healthcare professionals. By observing how the characters collaborate, communicate, and support one another, I have learned about the collaborative nature of healthcare and the significance of effective teamwork. This can be valuable for when I am in the healthcare field and working closely with colleagues in a multidisciplinary setting. As I embark on this journey, I understand the importance of further research, practical experiences, and engaging with real healthcare professionals to gain a comprehensive understanding of the realities and responsibilities of the profession. However, I am grateful for the impact that "Grey's Anatomy" has had on shaping my aspirations and instilling in me the determination to pursue a career dedicated to healing, compassion, and making a positive impact on the lives of others. This impact that I want to make in the world will not happen overnight, It will require dedication, persistence, and a collaborative mindset. Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
In today's fast-paced and demanding world, the significance of mental health cannot be overstated. It is an essential aspect of our well-being that influences how we think, feel, and navigate through life's challenges. Despite its crucial role, mental health remains a topic often shrouded in stigma and misconceptions. As society begins to recognize the profound impact of mental health on individuals and communities, it becomes increasingly imperative to shed light on this subject. As I prepare for college, I have realized how mentally exhausting this new step in my life has become. I am an expecting teenager, but please don't misunderstand, I am not a mom-to-be. I'm pregnant in the sense that I am in the process of producing something incredible in the near future. In many ways, the timeline and emotional preparedness I will be going through this year is the same as preparing for any new life to begin. The biggest difference is that the new life that will be born is mine. The first trimester is fraught with anxiety. It is where the seed of ideas develops a life of its own. There is a lot of fear and anticipation in this phase. What I am planning to create will need total commitment. Essentially, I am faithfully investing in a high school girl's future: mine. Just like a pregnant woman fears the health of her child, I need to safeguard the health of my career by having a solid, academically healthy start. This is scary because I will be a first-generation college student. There are no role models before me. A new mother would say, "I don't know what it takes to be a good mother." Well, I don't know what it takes for me to be the best student. I fear that I won't be able to develop my dreams into something substantial, because I won't have what it takes for this future. In the second trimester, I'm already thinking about the people who should be supporting me. My parents are the main reason I'm even more scared of my future. I've spent my whole life witnessing my family's issues. With my mom always in my corner and never letting me down, but not always having the father figure every little girl dreams about having. I saw my dad leave multiple times, and each time he left it flipped my world upside down. I've seen my mom must step up to take both roles, yes, he was there but he was never there the way I needed him to be. After the final time my dad left, I knew I would never be the same Alicia everyone knew me as and I also had to step up to help my mom with my two sisters. Every time people saw me, they saw the fun and happiness in me; they never saw the hurt in me, not even my family. In short, creating a new life without having all my family's support has been difficult, but I need to keep my "eye on the prize." In this metaphor, I am truly a single mother, and the success of this phase will be dependent on my determination. My dad only provides for me financially and not emotionally. My mother helps me in every possible way she can, but she also has two other girls to take care of. The second trimester is exhausting, because I can feel myself feeding into the stress. The third trimester affords only a little bit of breathing room. There's no turning back and this future has the potential to survive without the energy that I needed to apply in the earlier months. I'm excited to create the future of a beautiful, intelligent girl. Just like pregnancies have the potential to experience trauma in a blink of an eye, I need to stay focused on the health of my well-crafted plan, while also taking care of my mental and physical wellbeing. August 8th is when my life takes shape. I made the decision where this next phase will happen. This is where my new life starts.

The second trimester is exhausting, because I feed into the stress. The third trimester affords only a little bit of breathing room. There's no turning back and this future has the potential to survive without the energy that I needed to apply in the earlier months. I'm excited to create the future of a beautiful, intelligent girl. Just like pregnancies have the potential to experience trauma in a blink of an eye, I need to stay focused on the health of my well-crafted plan. May 25th is when my life takes shape. I made the decision where this next phase will happen. This is where my new life starts.

Becoming an ultrasound technician will require completing an accredited educational program at Albany. While completing the program I want to participate in a clinical internship. Interning as an ultrasound technician is crucial for bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical application. After finishing the program and completing an internship I will get an associate's or bachelor's degree. After completing my education, I want to obtain my certification. Traveling ultrasound technicians have the opportunity to work in different healthcare facilities. This allows them to experience diverse patient populations and encounter different medical cases. Traveling as an ultrasound technician will be a great experience. As someone who is introverted, traveling will allow me to explore new cities, cultures, and environments broadening my horizon. I do not plan on being a traveling nurse forever, so after four years I want to settle down in a city and find a healthcare facility that allows me to learn and have more experiences. I have never thought about being married and having children, so I am not sure what my future will hold in the family aspect. I want to be able to further my career and make an impact on society through my contribution in the healthcare field. Overall, being a part of the healthcare field will allow me to make a positive impact by improving health outcomes and promoting public health.
