Hi! I'm Alexis. I am a student at the University of Central Missouri and a proud Kansas City native. I am a girl with a whole lot of goals that I am confident in achieving! I am passionate about the fashion industry, the history of textiles, and learning about the impact clothing has on culture. I hope to use my skills and creativity to help people better understand both the historical and present day significance that fashion has on all of us. Currently, I am the president of UCM's fashion business association and a volunteer for the University Museum. I am also a member of Fashion Council and Anthro Club on campus. This past semester, I studied abroad in Italy to expand my academic and cultural horizons. This summer, I was given the opportunity to intern with the Kansas City Museum. I hope to obtain more internship opportunities in the future with the Fashion Institute of Technology or even abroad with the Victoria & Albert Museum. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, sewing, playing guitar, and working as a barista. I spend a lot of time reading and watching lectures through the Costume Society of America over fashion history, so I can create connections within the fashion historian field. My ultimate goal is to work as a fashion historian or textile conservator within a museum. It would be an absolute dream to work at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This dream will not come easy, but I am ready to take on the challenge. Any scholarship would be a huge help in achieving my many goals without the stress of finances holding me back.
