I've spent most of my life in Germantown, Wisconsin. Throughout my childhood, it was always just my mother, my sister, and me. When I was young, we were homeless for around six months, then we were in and out of apartments and condos, until we moved to the condo that I live in currently.
Growing up, I had several learning difficulties. Due to my ADHD, I was quite a hyperactive child, and my learning suffered because of it. Despite the long hours my mother worked to provide for me and my sister, she would spend long nights with me every single day to help me complete homework assignments and study for upcoming tests. Even when she was weary and tired, she never showed it and continuously celebrated my every achievement with me. My mother taught me the value of hard work and determination, and that you never stop fighting, no matter how hard the challenge is.
For most of my life, my mother worked as a float nurse, switching between different nursing positions all day long. In the morning, she would wake up early, before dawn, to get my sister and me ready and bring us to school. She would then work for over twelve hours, sometimes without breaks, and come to pick us up from school around six in the evening. Then she would continue to bring us home and make us dinner. Afterward, she never failed to help us with our homework. At that point, all that was left was to go to sleep. My mother never had any recreational time for herself, being a single parent with two children. She sacrificed everything she could to more than fulfill the roles of both parents for us. Even in these terrible circumstances, she improved her career with many promotions, and now she works between twelve and sixteen hours a day from home as a nurse educator. My mother has inspired me more than words can express. She has taught me that with hard work, dedication, and sacrifice, nothing is impossible.
Additionally, I was diagnosed at birth with Duane's syndrome (DS). Duane's syndrome is a rare, congenital eye movement disorder that affects the horizontal movement of the eye. My left eye is unable to move to the left. This caused me to experience dizziness and double vision whenever I attempted to look to the left, due to my eyes both seeing from different angles. Throughout my entire life, this was one of my biggest challenges, as it caused me to perform poorly in most sports and was also a source of bullying in my younger years. People would only talk to me until they saw that both of my eyes were looking in different directions, and it was very hard for me to find friends. Having Dwayne's Syndrome taught me to surround myself with people who care about me, and can overlook the trivial things, such as my outward appearance, rather than trying to hide my flaws, so that other people feel more comfortable being around me, because no one should have to do that.
Ultimately, I would like to offer my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the donor who made this scholarship opportunity for people with single parents possible. Currently, my mother is struggling with chronic illness, and being able to attend college somewhere close, while also having enough income to support us when she is unable to work anymore, which may be in a few years, is necessary. Thank you so much for your consideration.
Elevate Women in Technology Scholarship
3D printers, and EDM machines continuously inspire me. Most people are familiar with the concept of a 3D printer, but I know few people who are aware of EDM Machining. EDMs, or electrical discharge machines, are machines that use wires, along with electrical sparks to cut through metal. These machines are used to cut metal into various complex shapes that can be used as parts. The possibilities for what these machines can be used for are endless, from car parts to doornobs, the EDM machines have inspiring capabilities as long as you are creative enough to unlock them.
I am invested in spending my time studying the uses of these machines. I am trying to take as many classes as I can in technical education, so that I can reach my dreams of becoming an engineer. I want to inspire people with creative uses of 3D modeling by designing files and printing them to show the world that the human mind is an amazing things, and when you utilize your creativity to its fullest, you can unlock a world of possibilities, far past the horizon that people want you to believe is the edge of discovery, when that horizon is only the beginning of what I plan to discover.
Other than inspiring people, I want to make the world a better place through the new capabilities that EDM machining and CNC machining unveil for us. I would also like to figure out ways to create car parts using EDM machines, especially for older models, because, sometimes, car parts are discontinued, and I would like to be able to create custom car parts for people who have been told to just get a new car, even when they own their dream car, because the companies won't make a part for them. And this does not just apply to car parts, this applies to any, no matter how advanced, technological equipment, and even this is just the tip of the iceberg of what I plan to accomplish.
Overall, today's engineering technology has inspired me, and my goal is to share my passion for engineering with the world and inspire others too. This scholarship would be so much help on my path to my future. Thank you so much for your time, even just your consideration means the world to me.
Harriett Russell Carr Memorial Scholarship
I have always made an effort to give back to the community, and strengthen the bonds between individuals in the community so that the whole community can thrive. Whenever I have things that I am going through, I either donate them to a local charity or give them to families who are in need. When I was younger, my sister and I donated a huge bag of our clothes to a family who attended our school and was struggling. I am also sure to regularly sacrifice some of my time for volunteer work. The willingness, and desire to help people who are in need was instilled in me at a young age, and to this day, is one of my most important values.
Striving to make an impact both inside and outside my community, as well as on the individuals around me, gives me a tremendous sense of purpose. Even actions that seem insignificant, such as complimenting a stranger or holding the door for someone unfamiliar, can enhance the community and inspire others to give back as well. Engaging in these small acts helps establish strong personal connections within the community and benefits the overall well-being of everyone. Alongside these smaller efforts, I also seek volunteer opportunities at various locations in my area, such as helping out at my school, or the local library.
Additionally, I joined a club that coordinates and partakes in various activities that involve intellectually disabled adults and children. The last event that our club hosted was at the school I attend, and we played bingo. Sometimes the people need help, because some of them cannot read, and do not know their numbers well, but they still enjoy themselves. I am extremely passionate about volunteer work with people who have these cognitive abilities because I find great joy in making people happy, especially when it may sometimes be difficult for them to do things.
Volunteering at my local library is another meaningful way that I give back to the community. I find joy in assembling the craft kits that children get at the library, knowing that they will find joy in creating various crafts with the supplies. There is something special about the joy that I can spark in other people, especially in the young children who will engage their creativity and their imagination throughout the process of assembling the craft kit. Contributing to this creativity brings me true happiness because I remember assembling the craft kits from the library when I was a child. I completed them with my sister, and it strengthened our bond, along with my love of crafts.
Moreover, I consistently give back to my community through the joy, and happiness of others. Whether large or small, I can find contentment in the impact that I have made in this world, through the connections that I made to other people, and the connections that I made to the entire community.

Mathematics is an intriguing subject that requires mental engagement, focus, skill, and experience. Math, however, is more than just equations and arithmetic, it is the language of the universe. I find beauty in nature, and in the intricate complexities that often amaze me, and challenge my observation skills. Everything that we observe requires mathematical principles, theories, and rules, with detailed, and structured patterns that form the designs of everything on a molecular level.
I am quite interested in the scientific field, and math plays a major role in scientific rules and theories. Math influences and inspires everything: The way a leaf glides gracefully to the ground, the shapes of seashells on the sandy beach shore, and even the colors that we perceive.
Math is found in everything, including us. From our symmetry and the way our movements work, down to our genetics and the bonds between the elements that compose us, even the charge of the electrons that orbit atoms in our innermost being can be explained by these mathematical sequences.
I love math because I tend to ponder, wonder, and imagine how the universe works, what causes things to happen, how we contain life, and how the universe even exists. All of these ponderings can be explained with math when anquil research is done, and time is invested, and I am willing to spend that time if it means unlocking the secrets of the universe.
Curtis Holloway Memorial Scholarship
I was raised by my single mother, who has been my biggest supporter throughout my entire academic career. Despite the many challenges that we faced, she consistently made sacrifices for my education. She works long hours that are sometimes longer than twelve hours a day, allowing me to attend expensive private schools, so that I have been provided with a multitude of opportunities for success.
No matter how exhausting her day has been, she always takes the time to make me feel important, by acknowledging my studies, and my accomplishments. Whether she is reading through my essays, celebrating my chess competition victories, or helping me with selecting what courses I will complete in the upcoming school year, she remains involved in my academic career, and involved in all aspects of my life. The extreme level of support that she provided me with the motivation and determination that was necessary for me to thrive academically.
Because of my mother's encouragement and guidance, I have been able to excel in my studies and achieve a place on the honor roll. Along with my academic achievements, which were only possible due to her support, I have also developed numerous life skills, such as time management, critical thinking, gratitude, humility, and most of all, a drive, a determination to succeed in everything that I do so that I can make her proud.
I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for everything that my mother has done for me and provided me with. I owe all of my success to her sacrifice and her support. She has always been my strong foundation for my values, and everything that I have achieved. The absence of a father figure in my life has never left me feeling disadvantaged, as it does for some people. My mother has more than filled both parental roles. She has both been a nurturing parent and a powerful role model for me. The strength and determination that my mother used to raise me and my sister by herself has shown me what true hard work and determination look like.
I am severely encouraged by everything that my mother has achieved in her life, as she has taught me to reach for my dreams, while also choosing a practical career, and pursuing my passions in life. I will continue to carry the life lessons she has taught me with me as I achieve my dreams and make my mother proud.

When I was selecting my courses for my freshman year of high school, I overlooked the AutoCAD course, thinking it wasn't an option for me since I had a strong passion for science and aspired to become a physicist. However, when I needed an additional half credit, I decided to enroll in the course. I struggled at first, but soon adapted to the program and started to excel, enjoying the process. I even began creating files to 3D print just for fun.
Now, I am taking a 3D modeling course where I model 3D parts based on 2D drawings and designs. To my surprise, 3D modeling has become my favorite class, even more so than science, which had been my main passion for years. I am extremely passionate about becoming an engineer, and although I'm still a freshman, I am almost convinced that engineering will be my career path. I possess the desire and determination required to succeed in college and eventually build a career where I can excel and remain passionate about my work.
