Bold Helping Others Scholarship
My favorite way to help others is just doing it! I work with my community all of the time to provide things as small Covid trick or treating or as big as Rise Against Hunger. My major groups of involvement are through FBLA and Saint Stephen's Martyr Youth Group. Regarding FBLA we hold many events to raise money for the March of Dimes. I also attend events with FBLA-PBL where proceeds go to the March of Dimes. I am the president of my high school's FBLA chapter and throughout a week in February we held food drives for local shelters and also penny wars for March of Dimes. In October we held a covid trick or treating event which was a drive through trick or treating event where admission is canned foods. This was an amazing way to raise food for our local shelters and also let the kids have a halloween! The other group I am very involved in is the SSM youth group. Through my youth group we raise tons of food for shelters through various events. In January of this year we worked with Rise Against Hunger to create 50,000 meals for people in need. I have also participated in yearly soup kitchens, raising toys for tots, making thanksgiving meals for local families and getting christmas gifts for people at the retirement home.
Bold Gratitude Scholarship
I express gratitude by treating others as I treat myself. I learned to do this when my father died. My dad died on the morning of September 6th, 2018, from a heart aneurysm. I was forced to rebuild everything I thought I knew, but I treated this as an opportunity rather than a breaking point. I realized at 14 that parents are not permanent and not one thing or one person will stay forever. His death was unexpected and shocking. During this time, I felt like I was alone despite being in a room full of people who loved me. However, as a family, we stayed strong. My father’s death was the most difficult time in my life but it brought me hand in hand with God and showed me what to appreciate in life. I came out a stronger person. I wouldn’t wish tragedy on anyone but, if it had to be someone, I am at peace it was our family because we didn’t break. I have grown into a person who will not break due to tragedy but learn and prevail. This allows me to live my life less selfishly and show appreciation to others around me by using acts of kindness. Striving to live in this way creates many loving relationships. Which is why I believe in living my life treating others with the respect that I give myself because love is the most fulfilling emotion in life. It also taught me to be grateful for the wonderful, strong family I have and the beautiful life I live. I will never take it for granted again.
Bold Legacy Scholarship
I want my legacy to be found in others testimonies. I strive to be someone that provides kind words, comfort and treats people with understanding. I want my legacy to lie in the lifes of the people I effect. I can do this by treating others as I treat myself. I learned about treating others as I treat myself when my father died. Living like this allows my legacy to be held in my peers lives. Even if they dont remember my name, they will remember how I made them feel.
Bold Giving Scholarship
I feel that it is important to give back to your community so that you appreciate where it has brought you. I also think it is important to bulid up the areas you thrive in so that others can thrive.I work with my community all of the time to provide things as small Covid trick or treating or as big as Rise Against Hunger. Bold Career Goals Scholarship
My Career goal is to become a cardiothoracic surgeon. I have wanted to be in the medical field from a young age. Throughout my time at JP Knapp and COA I have had the opportunity of taking anatomy classes and studying the human body. This has led me to decide that I want to be involved with the heart. I find much beauty in being able to save someone's life or increase their quality of life. I also have some family influence towards wanting to study the heart as my dad died from a heart aneurysm. He actually had an appointment with a cardiologist weeks before he died and if the doctor had noticed his blockage he might still be alive. It fantasizes me that the thing that works to keep you alive has the power to kill you. I am determined to become a surgeon and I have gone to an early college simply for that reason. It is going to take me a very long time to complete the schooling I need and even two years cut off was an amazing opportunity.
