VNutrition and Wellness Nursing Scholarship
Hello, my name is Alexis and I am currently a Junior in High School. I am applying to this scholarship because my dream career is to go into nursing and get my BSN degree. I would like to begin by saying I am extremely grateful for the chance to be able to apply to this scholarship.
When it comes to nursing, I honestly had no idea exactly what I wanted to go into. I started doing research, and honestly there were just so many careers that were within the medical field, it began to feel overwhelming. All I really knew was that I wanted to help people. I was interested in going to be a Doctor or Ultrasound technician, but neither seemed like I was helping others enough. I always knew what nursers were, and that it was a major role in a hospital, but I didn't exactly understand what they did. And that's when my research began. I started looking into to it and the schooling, and it truthfully just felt like this was the career I was meant to be in. Seeing all the work, and the huge role nurses played in being engaged with there patients and the connection they built was exactly what I wanted to go into. I thought it was beautiful the impact positive nurses can have on patients. And I'd love to be able to be one of those nurses. I mainly want to work with children when I become a nurse. The reason behind this was because I was a child that went through a lot of trauma. And as I have grown to be older, all I have dreamed of was being able to help kids in a way, even if they aren't struggling with the same things I did.
When it comes to the steps I'd like to take once I become a nurse to help others with nutrition, would be to make sure they understand the care that they are receiving. Sometimes patients have no idea what we are doing, or why we are doing it. If we are helping patients with their health, we should explain everything to them also. Id also love to be able to spread positivity with peoples eating habits. Id love to be able to promote people to feel conformable with their eating habits, while also keeping a nutritional/healthy diet. If more people begin to feel better in their bodies, the more they can care about their nutrition and health. Being able to have my patients build this connection with themselves can cause a major impact on the health of our society.
Scorenavigator Financial Literacy Scholarship
Hi, my name is Alexis, and growing up, I have learned that life doesn't always go the way it needs to. From a young age, I have always been considered the “independent” and “mature” child. I am currently a junior in high school, and while many may rely on their parents for guidance and help, my life has always been different. My father passed away, and my mother is absent from my life. This taught me at a young age that I didn't need to rely on anyone. I had to learn this world from a different perspective and with greater independence compared to everyone else I was around. I currently now live with my aunt and uncle, who have given me a stable home. But it doesn't change the challenges I went through in the past. Going through all the heartbreak at a young age has taught me to become more determined, focused, and committed to becoming an amazing person in my future.
Due to my family situation, financial stability has been something on my mind recently when thinking about college. Yes, my aunt and uncle give me support, I have always thought to myself, what will I do when I go to college? I have always been smarter with my money and have been extremely focused on planning ahead and making sure I only make responsible actions. All the experiences I had gone through had taught me that I needed to value my education. I always knew that being good in school was going to be the key to becoming a younger me that would be so proud of. Being able to have the opportunity to apply for scholarships is something I am so grateful for, I can't even describe it in words. Being able to get the chance to receive this scholarship would extremely help me focus on my academic goals, and help give me the opportunity to pursue a career that I am very passionate about. And being able to do this passion, without being held back by financial barriers would be a blessing.
My dream is to go into the nursing program after high school. I have always been drawn to the medical field, especially pediatric care. Working with children has always been something that just felt like I was meant to do. I have been babysitting children for years now, and babysitting has taught me that I am supportive with children. It has taught me to be calm and learn how to care for others. Being able to help children in there hardest moments in their lives, is something I wanna help children with. Its not just about the medicine, its about the patients. Its about building a human connection to make others feel safe.
I know that becoming a nurse will take dedication, long hours of studying, and I will have to have strong commitment to all the learning. But no matter what, I am ready for that challenge. Everything that I have gone through has taught me resilience. And being able to get this scholarship will help improve my education and support my future. It would help continue to move me forward with my confidence, and I know that all my challenges do not define me, but instead will continue to motivate me to achieve my goals. I am determined to being able to help others and help my community.
