When I was ten years old, I saw a really bad car accident and I saw a person lifted out of the car into the ambulance. In that moment, I didn’t know what to do. I decided I never wanted to not know what to do when someone needed help, and so since then I have always pursued nursing. I got my CNA and my EMT-B when I was in high school. Since then I have worked tirelessly on my education and I have finally been accepted into nursing school. I am overjoyed that I will soon be able to help those in need and use the knowledge I will gain to help others.
I want to become a nurse practitioner and this is my start. I want to be a mental health nurse practitioner and help others like I was helped by a nurse practitioner. It was because of a kind and compassionate nurse practitioner that I was able to get my mental health in order and pursue my dreams. I want to do the same for others that has been done to me. The comfort and compassion healthcare workers have given me has given me the inspiration and capacity to work as a nurse and to work as someone that is going to make a difference and help others along their way. I plan on being the best nurse that I can be and to help everyone I possibly can.

When I was in high school, I decided to try a CNA course to see how I liked nursing. Throughout the course, I grew to enjoy and cherish helping other people that I encountered in any capacity that I could. It was difficult to do CNA work, but I ended up falling in love with nursing in general and with the work. Right now I work in hospice and would love to become a hospice nurse and help people at end of their life. I want to be the person to help families and patients come to terms with the end of life and not be afraid to go.
My first experience watching someone pass away was unnerving at first to me, especially since I’d never seen it before. But after seeing the experience the family went through and what it took for a family to let a loved one go, I knew I wanted to be part of it, even with the ups and downs that went with it. I knew I wanted to be able to help and to make things better for the family.
I am often asked how I can do hospice. How am I able to know and watch my patients pass away and not be able to stop it? I have found that after working with them, I do not need to stop it. I’m able to let go and let them move on to the next phase of life, which is death for them. It’s almost a beautiful experience to help someone pass peacefully without any pain, and make sure their loved ones are there and ready to say their goodbyes and mourn the loss.
I’m hoping to become a nurse practitioner in this field of nursing. My aspirations are a PhD and I want to know as much as possible in order to be as helpful to the patients as possible. I want to start with a bachelor’s and work my way up from there. I have high hopes of getting my degree and then being able to work and do even more to help my patients pass with dignity and with compassion. I really want to be able to assist as much as possible with making sure that my patients are comfortable and not afraid of what comes next. It is going to be a pleasure to lend whatever services I can provide to those who need it and I intend to be the best I can be as a nurse to whoever needs it.
