Hi everyone! My name is Alexes; I am a first-generation college student currently attending Macomb Community College. I plan to transfer to a four-year university to continue my studies in psychology as I am passionate about mental health and intend to become a psychiatrist. Mental health within the Black community is often overlooked. Those suffering from mental health are afraid to speak up due to the stigma of being viewed as weak or incompetent. With this chosen career path, my overall goal is to open a wellness center to help individuals, especially within the Black community, with their mental health to become the best versions of themselves. This is a realistic career path for me simply because of how passionate I feel about mental health and psychology. I know that becoming a psychiatrist will be a very long journey, but it'll be worth it.
