These artworks are a lens into how I experience the world around me. How I struggle with the concept of life and love. How I struggle to find purpose everyday. How I struggle to overcome the thoughts and feelings that plague my body from morning till night. My artwork doesn't portray the world through rose tinted glasses or vibrant filters. It doesn't correct or romanticize the darkest aspects of life, casting them in a glorious and untruthful light. My art is my raw vision. My feelings and difficult experiences. My art gives me a voice. Like a neon sign in the center of times square, it is bright and glaring and seeks to spread a message to as many people as possible. My struggles with depression and anxiety do not define me, but they have given me a perspective and an experience that I have the privilege of being able to express in a beautiful way. Through my art I found my solace. I found an understanding. My art has never been something where I had to pretend, where I had to shut my eyes tight and imagine a more vibrant reality. My art is my visual expression of my truest struggles and deepest thoughts and through it I have not only found a community and a voice, but also the ability to reach out. In the future I hope to provide a space of acceptance and a feeling of acknowledgement to those who may relate to my work. Those whose vision feels blurred. Those who simply need a little more light in their life.
