Hello! I'm Alexandra Campos, and I've lived in El Paso, TX, almost my whole life. After becoming a mother at 19, I balanced part-time work and parenthood, temporarily delaying my college dreams. Last year, I returned to full-time studies, achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA and making the President's Honor List. This experience reaffirmed my potential and reignited my passion for education.
I'm enrolled at EPCC, excelling academically, and enrolled at UTEP for their Nursing program this fall. My aspiration to become a nurse stems from the compassionate care I received during my pregnancy. I'm drawn to roles in Labor and Delivery, Perioperative, and ER nursing, where quick thinking and empathy are essential.
Beyond academics, I volunteer with organizations like Therapeutic Horsemanship of El Paso and the Special Olympics, aiming to promote health and well-being in underserved communities.
Securing a scholarship would alleviate financial burdens, allowing me to focus entirely on my studies and career goals. It would propel me toward realizing my dream of becoming a nurse and positively impacting healthcare.
Thank you for considering my journey and aspirations. Your support would enable me to continue my academic excellence and community service path.

Hi, my name is Alexandra Campos. I've lived in El Paso, TX, almost my whole life to be closer to our relatives in Mexico. I graduated from Burges High School in 2015. In my free time, I enjoy taking my son to sports and music lessons, and during breaks, I love hiking and swimming with my family.
My big challenge was having my son at a young age, 19 years old. I was living alone then, working a part-time job and attending college. I had to leave school to ensure I was bringing in enough money for a roof over our heads and basic needs. It drastically changed all my plans to finish school and get my bachelor's degree by age 24.
I had to postpone college for four years and was so worried that I had forgotten everything I had ever learned. In my last year of high school, 2015, I got all A's and was very determined. But I was scared to go back; I thought I couldn't succeed that well ever again. Last year, I strived. I returned full-time, got a 4.0 in all my fall semester classes, and made it on the President's Honor List. Last year clearly made me realize that I have tons of potential and can do anything I set my mind to.
The challenges I have gone through have made me an incredible problem-solver and even more dedicated to my education to create a better life for myself and my family and make a difference in my community. These past years have taught me how to manage money better, but I still struggle financially. I will be a full-time student from now on and only work weekends if needed to make sure I focus on my studies. This summer, I'm attending 3 classes at EPCC, with all A's so far, and I'm enrolled at UTEP for the fall with a focus on achieving all A's to enter UTEP's Nursing program.
Since high school, I've known I wanted a career in the medical field. Witnessing the care I received during my pregnancy solidified my desire to become a nurse. Nurses are constantly present at a patient's side, and I admire their problem-solving skills and adaptability. Nurses play a critical role in checking on their patients, running tests, and gaining information to see the options. The fast-paced environment and opportunity to directly impact positive outcomes in critical situations really appeal to me in Labor and Delivery, Perioperative, and ER nursing.
I have volunteered at various events for people with special needs and disabilities, including the Therapeutic Horsemanship of El Paso, the El Paso Multipurpose Senior Recreation Center, and the Special Olympics at Burges High School. After becoming a nurse, I would enjoy promoting health in my community. Many people in my community, including myself, postpone doctor visits and medical concerns due to financial struggles. I want to promote healthy practices and would love to participate in free health screenings with other nurses and doctors to give back to our neighborhood.
A scholarship would be a lifeline for me as an aspiring nurse facing financial hardship. With this support, I could contribute to my tuition and books, accessing the necessary courses without delay. This relief from financial worries would mean I could channel all my efforts into my education, shaping me into a skilled and compassionate nurse, and would act as a catalyst, fast-tracking my life goals. If awarded this scholarship, it would be the stepping stone I need to achieve my dream and contribute positively to healthcare and my community. Thank you.

I am here to put us on a path of success and show him that anything you want, no matter how extreme it seems, is within reach.

Thank you.
