As a little girl, I always had big dreams. I am a first-year college student looking to pursue a career in medicine and those dreams are still just as big. Helping people is my passion and I am looking to do just that throughout my career. I have always been a very academically motivated student interested in sciences. My first "real" science class was my freshman year of high school when I took biology. Little did I know, I would fall in love with it. I am fascinated by the way that the human body works and all of the unconscious functions it is able to perform. Because of the myriad functions and workings each body does, when something is wrong or off with one's body, there is always something specific that caused it and I would like to be the one to find what exactly that was.
My dream career is to be a physician assistant. I would like to be able to assist in surgeries and make a difference in patient's lives through my knowledge in the medical field. I also love to be challenged. A job in the hospital is very demanding and requires the upkeep of massive amounts of knowledge as well as room for more information as there are advances in the medical field. I think it is amazing how far medicine has come and I am fascinated to see where it will continue to go. Further than being a physician assistant, I would like to either go into dermatology or something with sports medicine. I have always been interested in skincare and the fact that one's skin is the largest organ in the body and its first line of defense when it comes to fighting infections and diseases, so it is very important to take care of it. One of my favorite hobbies is going to the gym and that got me very interested in the structure of the human body and athletes. This got me thinking about doing something with sports medicine because of how interested I am in the injuries that may happen on the field and preventing injuries by taking care of your body the correct way.
Outside of my career, I would like to give back to my community. I love donating blood and working with others in my community to help make it a better place. I also love the feeling of putting a smile on someone's face. I am currently taking a class to get my certification to be a nursing assistant, which is my first step into the medical field. Once I receive my certification, I would like to go on a mission trip to a less fortunate country to put what I have learned to use by helping people medically and emotionally. I am proud to have achieved all of the academic success that I have and am proud of the hard work I put into it. My continued drive and dedication to my studies and my community will help make my dream career look more like a reality and make my younger self proud.
