I am a single Mom of two daughters. There has been many challenges while raising my girls on my own however, they’re my biggest cheerleaders and they are what pushes me forward. I literally can not give up because not only do my children deserve a better life… so do I. I have always been interested in healthcare because of my mom. I watched my mom go back to school to be an MA. She inspired me as well.

I am currently a single Mother in nursing school. When I first became a mother I was hit hard with postpartum depression. By becoming a nurse I want to specifically work with new mothers. I would like to help bring change to postpartum after care in mothers. I feel like the system is broken and failing our women.

Being a daughter to a veteran has shaped my career choice because honor has always been instilled into my childhood. You work hard, respect people and help protect people who cannot protect themselves.

The biggest change I want to see in my community is maternity leave. When I became a mother I realized just how important it is to have help. Postpartum depression hit me hard and to be honest my doctor didn’t really seem to care. Just write me a script and sent me on my way. I would like to see more free or subsidized programs for mothers, such as having a nurse come to your home and help the new mother. Whether it is teacher her breastfeeding tips or simply being there so she can sleep.

My goals as a nurse is to work in the OR. During my rotation I shadowed in the OR and I feel in love with it. During Covid I worked in a hospital watching the nurses go into action was so inspiring. One hardship that I am having to overcome is that I am a single Mom of two. It’s challenging raising them, working and going to school.

I am currently working in a hospital and during Covid I saw the nurses work so hard. They stood for something and I wanted to be part of it. Watching the nurses during Covid inspired me to want more.

I am currently a single Mom or two. This scholarship would GREATLY help me pay the gap for my education. I currently have to work to pay the remanding balance of my tuition.

I am a single Mom of two daughters. I am also older so I feel like this has been challenging to overcome because of the challenges with providing for my family on my own. As well as daycare challenges.

I am currently taking a personal finance class. I working on paying off my student loan debt as well in the future I would like to start a business.
