      YOU GOT IT GIRL SCHOLARSHIP
      1. I represent a “You Got It Girl” through resilience, determination, and leadership. One of the most defining moments in my life was tearing my left ACL during my junior year of high school. That experience challenged me physically and mentally, but I refused to let it define me. I committed myself fully to recovery, balancing physical therapy, school, work, and athletics, and ultimately returned for my senior season stronger than before. This scholarship would help me continue pursuing my goals at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, where I am committed to play soccer while studying nursing. As a Division III athlete, many expenses such as gear, travel, and training are out-of-pocket. This support would allow me to focus more on my development as both a student-athlete and future healthcare professional. 2. I have been playing soccer since I was three years old, and it has been the foundation of my athletic career. I have competed at a high level through club soccer in the Elite 64 and Girls Academy League. During my senior year of high school, I am honored to serve as a team captain, where I support my teammates both on and off the field. In addition to soccer, I have been a multi-sport athlete, competing in gymnastics, basketball, track, and cross country. These experiences have helped me develop discipline, adaptability, and a strong work ethic that I carry with me in all areas of my life. 3. Tearing my ACL junior year was one of the most difficult challenges I have faced. It forced me to step away from the sport I love and tested my mental strength. There were moments when the recovery process felt overwhelming, but I chose to stay focused and trust the process. Through hard work and determination, I was able to return for my senior season. This experience taught me resilience, patience, and mental toughness. It also allowed me to grow as a leader. When my twin sister tore her ACL right before her senior year, I was able to guide and support her through recovery. Turning my setback into a way to help someone else was one of the most empowering parts of my journey. 4. The person I admire most is my twin sister. Watching her go through the same ACL injury I experienced showed me her strength and determination. Despite the challenges, she continued to push forward, which inspired me to do the same. What motivates me most is our shared goal of getting back on the field together. I pushed myself during recovery not only for my own success, but so I could play alongside her again. Her resilience continues to inspire me every day. 5. As a Division III athlete, I will be balancing academics, athletics, and work while pursuing a nursing degree. Many expenses, including gear, training, and travel, are my responsibility. Our team also participates in a trip every two years that requires athletes to raise or contribute their own funds. This scholarship would help relieve some of that financial pressure, allowing me to focus more on my education and athletic performance. It would also give me the opportunity to fully participate in team experiences that are an important part of being a college athlete. 6. I have always been committed to balancing school, sports, and work while striving to improve in every area of my life. I take pride in being a leader, a teammate, and someone others can rely on. My experiences have shaped me into a hardworking and determined individual who is ready to take on the challenges of being a student-athlete. 7. I am committed to playing soccer at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh while pursuing a degree in nursing. As a Division III athlete, I am not receiving an athletic scholarship, which makes opportunities like this incredibly meaningful. Being a student-athlete means pushing myself to succeed both academically and athletically. It requires discipline, time management, and perseverance. Soccer has been a major part of my life, and continuing my athletic career while working toward my future in healthcare is something I am incredibly proud of.

One of my favorite memories with my stepbrother, Logan Wangard, comes from the time right before he left for the military. Logan has always been someone I admire—his determination, sense of responsibility, and ability to make everyone around him laugh. I remember when we first found out he would be leaving soon; it was a mix of excitement for him and nervousness for all of us. To honor his decision and send him off with love, our family decided to throw a party. We invited family, friends, and people who had been important in his life. The house was full of laughter, music, and the smell of everyone’s favorite foods. It was chaotic in the best way—people reminiscing, telling stories, and joking around, all while trying to make the day special for Logan. At the party, I saw a side of Logan I hadn’t really noticed before. He was smiling and joking with everyone, but I could also see the seriousness in his eyes. I realized then that this was a huge step for him, something that required courage and commitment. Even though it was a celebration, there was a quiet moment when it hit me that soon he would be far away, facing challenges we could only imagine. We took pictures, shared hugs, and gave him small gifts and notes of encouragement. Everyone wanted to make sure he knew how much he meant to us. That day wasn’t just about saying goodbye—it was about celebrating his accomplishments and the person he had become. A few days later, I had the chance to visit him before his deployment. That visit was quieter but just as meaningful. We talked about everything from silly memories growing up together to the future and what he hoped to accomplish in the military. Logan shared what he was looking forward to and some of the challenges he expected to face. We laughed a lot, but there were moments of silence, too—moments when it felt like we were both trying to hold onto time that was about to pass. I realized how important family support really is, especially when someone is about to take on such a big responsibility. That experience taught me a lot about courage, resilience, and the value of close relationships. Watching Logan prepare to leave for the military made me appreciate how important it is to support the people we care about, whether through celebrations, visits, or even just conversations. It also reminded me that sometimes the most meaningful moments happen in the in-between—the moments right before a big change, when we get to show our love and pride. Visiting Logan before he deployed is a memory I will always cherish, one that makes me proud of him and grateful for the bond we share as a family.
      Learner Calculus Scholarship
The Importance of Calculus in STEM Calculus is one of the most important tools in the STEM field because it provides a framework for understanding change, growth, and complex systems. Unlike basic algebra or geometry, which deal with fixed numbers and shapes, calculus allows scientists, engineers, and mathematicians to model dynamic phenomena—anything that changes over time or space. This ability to analyze and predict change is essential in STEM disciplines, where understanding patterns, relationships, and behaviors can lead to innovations, solutions, and discoveries that impact our world. One of the primary ways calculus is applied in STEM is through modeling real-world systems. In physics, calculus allows scientists to study motion, energy, and forces by calculating rates of change. For example, understanding how velocity changes over time requires derivatives, while determining the total distance traveled involves integration. In engineering, calculus is used to design structures, optimize processes, and analyze materials. Calculus helps engineers determine the stress and strain on bridges, predict fluid flow in pipelines, and even optimize computer algorithms for efficiency. Without calculus, these complex analyses would be impossible, and advancements in technology and infrastructure would be severely limited. Calculus is also crucial in fields like biology, chemistry, and medicine. In biology, it can be used to model population growth, the spread of diseases, or the rate at which cells grow or decay. In chemistry, calculus helps chemists understand reaction rates and the behavior of molecules over time. In medicine, calculus is used in medical imaging, such as MRI and CT scans, which rely on advanced calculations to reconstruct detailed images of the human body. By understanding how quantities change continuously, scientists and healthcare professionals can make accurate predictions and informed decisions, ultimately improving patient care and advancing research. Moreover, calculus plays a foundational role in computer science, data science, and artificial intelligence. Algorithms that optimize search engines, predict trends, or simulate complex systems rely heavily on calculus concepts. Machine learning models, for example, use calculus to minimize errors and improve accuracy by analyzing rates of change in large data sets. Without calculus, our ability to innovate in technology and harness the power of data would be severely constrained. Beyond its practical applications, calculus also develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Learning calculus challenges students to think abstractly, reason logically, and connect mathematical concepts to real-world phenomena. These skills are essential for success in any STEM field, as they enable professionals to approach problems methodically, test hypotheses, and develop innovative solutions. In conclusion, calculus is essential in STEM because it allows us to understand, model, and predict change in the world around us. From physics and engineering to biology, medicine, and computer science, calculus provides the tools necessary to solve complex problems, optimize systems, and drive innovation. It is not just a branch of mathematics; it is a language for describing the dynamic nature of the universe. For anyone pursuing a STEM career, mastering calculus is not only a practical necessity but also a gateway to thinking critically, analyzing deeply, and contributing meaningfully to science and technology.

Facing Adversity and What I Learned One of the most challenging experiences of my life was tearing my ACL during high school. At the time, I was balancing school, work as a lifeguard, and extracurricular activities. I had always been active, relied on my physical abilities, and prided myself on my independence, so this injury felt like a huge setback. Suddenly, activities I had taken for granted—walking long distances, participating in sports, and even simple daily tasks—became difficult and painful. At first, I felt frustrated and overwhelmed. I worried about falling behind in school, missing work, and losing the progress I had made in my personal and professional life. Despite the challenges, I knew I had to develop a plan to keep moving forward. I reached out to my teachers, including Mrs. Puetz, who had been my math teacher for three years. She stayed after school to help me with lessons, adapted her teaching to accommodate my online learning when I couldn’t attend in person, and treated me with the same respect and encouragement she always had. Her support reminded me that asking for help is not a weakness but a way to overcome obstacles. I also worked with my doctors and physical therapists to create a structured recovery plan, dedicating time every day to rehabilitation exercises and focusing on small, achievable goals. This experience completely changed my perspective on life. I learned that adversity is not something to avoid but something to face with patience, resilience, and determination. I realized that setbacks do not define a person; how we respond to them does. It also taught me the value of support systems—family, friends, teachers, and mentors—who can help guide us through difficult times. I learned to rely on others when needed and to accept that it is okay to slow down and take care of myself, both physically and mentally. The experience also reinforced my desire to pursue a career in nursing. I gained firsthand insight into what it feels like to be vulnerable and in need of care, and it strengthened my empathy for patients who face injuries, illnesses, or other challenges. I now view obstacles as opportunities to grow, develop resilience, and gain perspective, which I hope to pass on to the patients I care for in my future career. In conclusion, tearing my ACL was one of the most difficult moments of my life, but it became a defining experience that taught me perseverance, the importance of planning and support, and the value of empathy. Facing adversity has made me stronger, more determined, and more appreciative of the people who help us along the way. It showed me that challenges can be transformed into lessons, and that with patience, effort, and the right mindset, we can overcome even the most difficult obstacles

Why I Want to Become a Nurse and My Goals for the Future As a graduating high school student, my desire to become a nurse comes from a combination of personal experiences, hands-on work, and a passion for helping others. I have always been drawn to healthcare because it allows me to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives at moments when they need support the most. This interest was strengthened by my experiences working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and as a lifeguard, where I gained firsthand insight into patient care, emergency response, and the importance of empathy and patience. These experiences taught me that nursing is not only about knowledge and technical skill—it is about connecting with people, providing comfort, and making them feel supported during vulnerable times. Academically, I have prepared for this career through challenging coursework, including dual credit classes in human anatomy, microbiology, medical terminology, AP Biology, and college-prep chemistry. These classes have given me a strong foundation in medical science while helping me develop discipline, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage a rigorous workload. Balancing school with work has also taught me time management, perseverance, and responsibility—qualities that will be essential as I pursue a nursing degree and advance in my career. I hope to pursue a career in advanced nursing, specifically as a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or a nurse practitioner specializing in a particular field. These areas of nursing appeal to me because they allow me to combine critical thinking, technical skill, and compassion to make a significant impact on patient outcomes. I am particularly interested in working in critical care or anesthesia, where I can help patients during high-stakes procedures while providing reassurance and support to both patients and their families. My goal is to deliver care that is not only medically excellent but also compassionate, ensuring that patients feel safe, informed, and cared for at every step of their treatment. Beyond direct patient care, I also hope to make a difference in my community by educating and mentoring others who are interested in healthcare. Through volunteering, sharing knowledge, and encouraging peers to pursue careers in nursing, I want to help build a new generation of compassionate and skilled healthcare professionals. By combining advanced medical knowledge with empathy and leadership, I hope to positively impact both the lives of my patients and the broader healthcare community. Becoming a nurse is more than a career choice for me—it is a calling. It allows me to transform my passion for helping others into tangible, meaningful action. Through dedication, continued learning, and compassionate care, I hope to make a lasting impact on my patients, their families, and my community while pursuing a specialty that challenges me to grow both personally and professionally.

My Passion for Nursing and My Career Goals My passion for nursing comes from a lifelong desire to help others and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. From a young age, I admired healthcare professionals for their ability to combine skill, knowledge, and compassion to care for patients. This admiration grew into a personal calling as I gained experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a lifeguard. These roles have taught me the importance of responsibility, empathy, quick decision-making, and remaining calm under pressure—qualities that are essential in nursing. Seeing the impact that small acts of care can have on patients, whether it is providing comfort, reassurance, or support, reinforced my desire to pursue nursing as a career. Academically, I have prepared for this path by taking rigorous coursework, including dual credit classes in human anatomy, microbiology, medical terminology, AP Biology, and college-prep chemistry. These classes have not only strengthened my understanding of medical science but also given me the tools to excel in college-level nursing programs. Balancing school with work has taught me discipline, perseverance, and time management, skills that will be invaluable as I continue my education and enter the workforce. In my career, I hope to enter the field of advanced nursing as a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or a nurse practitioner specializing in a specific area. I am particularly interested in critical care and anesthesia because these areas allow me to directly impact patient outcomes in high-stakes situations. I want to provide not only expert care but also comfort, reassurance, and guidance to patients and their families during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. My goal is to combine technical excellence with compassion, ensuring that patients feel supported, informed, and cared for throughout their treatment. The impact I hope to make in my specialty extends beyond individual patient care. I aim to educate patients and their families about health, wellness, and recovery, empowering them to take an active role in their healthcare. I also want to mentor future nurses, sharing knowledge, skills, and encouragement to help them develop into confident, compassionate professionals. By advocating for patients, providing high-quality care, and supporting colleagues, I hope to contribute to a healthcare environment that values empathy, safety, and excellence. Ultimately, nursing is more than a career—it is a way to combine science, service, and compassion to make a tangible difference. My passion for nursing drives me to continually learn, grow, and dedicate myself to helping others. Through my work, I hope to leave a lasting impact on patients, families, and the healthcare community, demonstrating that skilled, compassionate care can transform lives in profound and meaningful ways.

Creating Solutions to Solve Problems Throughout my life, I have been drawn to solving problems in ways that make a real difference for others. One issue I noticed in my school and community was that many students who were interested in healthcare didn’t know where to start. They wanted to learn medical skills or explore careers in nursing and other health fields, but there were few opportunities to gain practical experience or guidance. Seeing this gap, I decided to create a solution that could help my peers explore healthcare in a meaningful and accessible way. I started small by mentoring younger students in Key Club and sharing my experiences as a CNA and lifeguard. I would explain basic first aid techniques, talk about the responsibilities of healthcare jobs, and share advice on what classes and certifications could help them in the future. I also organized a few informal workshops with friends and classmates, where we practiced skills like measuring vital signs, learning medical terminology, and understanding safety procedures. This gave students hands-on experience and helped them feel more confident about exploring healthcare. It was a small start, but I noticed that students left the sessions feeling more informed and motivated. If I had more resources and funding, I would expand this idea into a program called “Health Pathways.” It would provide structured workshops, mentorship opportunities, and shadowing experiences with local medical professionals. Students could learn practical skills like CPR, first aid, and basic patient care, as well as gain insight into careers in nursing, medicine, and allied health. The program would also provide guidance on college courses, certifications, and scholarships that could help students take concrete steps toward a healthcare career. Even a small partnership with local hospitals or clinics would give students the chance to see the medical field in action and better understand what these careers really involve. In addition to in-person workshops, I would create an online component where students could access tutorials, study resources, and advice from mentors. This would ensure that those who cannot attend every session in person could still participate and benefit from the program. My goal would be to help students gain confidence, practical skills, and a clearer path to pursuing healthcare careers. This project reflects my belief that even small efforts can solve meaningful problems. By starting with mentoring and workshops, I was able to provide guidance and encouragement to my peers. With more resources, this program could grow into a sustainable way to help students explore healthcare opportunities and prepare for their futures. Solving problems like this has taught me the importance of creativity, patience, and persistence—skills I plan to carry with me into my career in nursing, where I hope to continue helping people and making a difference in my community.

Inspiration for Pursuing a Career in the Medical Field My inspiration to pursue a career in the medical field comes from both personal experiences and the influence of someone close to me—my stepmom, who is a nurse practitioner. From a young age, I watched her work tirelessly, balancing the demands of her patients with professionalism and compassion. She often shared stories about her work, explaining how she helped patients navigate difficult diagnoses, manage chronic conditions, or simply feel supported during stressful situations. Watching her, I realized that healthcare is about far more than medical knowledge; it is about empathy, leadership, and the ability to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Her dedication inspired me to pursue a path where I could combine my passion for science with my desire to serve others. My own experiences have further strengthened this inspiration. Working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), I assist patients with daily needs, provide comfort during procedures, and witness firsthand how small acts of care can profoundly impact a patient’s well-being. Each day, I see how empathy, patience, and clear communication make a difference—whether it is calming a nervous patient, encouraging someone to regain independence after an illness, or simply listening when they need to be heard. As a lifeguard, I have learned the importance of vigilance, quick decision-making, and staying calm in emergencies—skills that have prepared me for the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of healthcare. Academically, I have prepared for this career by taking dual credit and advanced courses in human anatomy, microbiology, medical terminology, AP Biology, and college-prep chemistry. These classes have strengthened my understanding of medical science and given me the tools I need to succeed in college-level nursing programs. I have also learned how discipline, perseverance, and time management are essential, balancing school, work, and personal responsibilities while maintaining a high level of performance. I plan to make a difference through my career by combining technical expertise with compassion and advocacy. I want to provide high-quality care while supporting patients and their families through moments of vulnerability, uncertainty, and recovery. Beyond direct patient care, I hope to mentor and educate others in my community about health, wellness, and safety. I want to empower people to make informed decisions about their health and inspire young people to pursue careers in healthcare, just as my stepmom inspired me. Ultimately, my stepmom’s influence, combined with my own experiences as a CNA and lifeguard, has shaped my vision for the future. She has shown me that nursing is not just a career but a calling—a profession where knowledge, compassion, and dedication intersect to transform lives. I am committed to following in her footsteps, providing care that is thoughtful, empathetic, and impactful. Nursing allows me to use my skills and passion to make a lasting difference, and I am determined to honor that calling by serving my patients and my community with the same integrity and commitment that first inspired me.

In my community and through Key Club, I advocate for anti-bullying initiatives, encouraging peers to speak up when they witness bullying and providing support to those who feel marginalized. Online, I promote safe behavior by teaching friends and younger students about the importance of privacy, respectful communication, and reporting harmful content. By creating awareness and fostering a culture of respect and inclusion, I help youth feel supported and empowered to act safely in all environments. In conclusion, I am a motivated and service-oriented individual who is committed to academic success, community involvement, and promoting safety and well-being for others. 1. Personal Inspiration for Pursuing a Career in Nursing (Approx. 280 words) My inspiration for pursuing a career in nursing comes from a combination of personal experiences, hands-on work, and a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. From a young age, I have been drawn to healthcare and the ways medical professionals provide support, comfort, and care to those in need. This interest was strengthened by my experiences as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where I work directly with patients, assisting them with daily needs and learning the importance of empathy and patience in a healthcare setting. In addition to my CNA work, I have also gained experience as a lifeguard, which has taught me the importance of quick decision-making, responsibility, and staying calm under pressure—skills that are essential in nursing. Academically, I have prepared for this career through rigorous coursework, including dual credit classes in human anatomy, microbiology, medical terminology, AP Biology, and college-prep chemistry. These classes have given me a strong foundation in medical science and reinforced my interest in pursuing advanced nursing roles, such as a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or a nurse practitioner specializing in a specific field. Ultimately, what inspires me most about nursing is the ability to combine knowledge and technical skills with compassion and human connection. Nursing is not just a career—it is a way to improve lives, support patients and their families, and bring comfort to people during vulnerable moments. This balance of science, empathy, and service is what drives me to pursue nursing and motivates me to dedicate myself fully to this path, with the goal of making a meaningful, lasting impact in the healthcare field. 2. What “Human Touch” Means and Its Impact on Patient Care (Approx. 375 words) To me, the phrase “human touch” represents the combination of empathy, compassion, and personal connection that healthcare providers offer to their patients. While medical knowledge and technical skills are essential, the human touch is what helps patients feel seen, heard, and cared for on a deeper level. It goes beyond physical contact; it is about actively listening, providing reassurance, and demonstrating genuine concern for a patient’s well-being. Human touch can have a profound impact on patient care. In my experience as a CNA, I have seen how small gestures—holding a patient’s hand, maintaining eye contact, or speaking calmly during a procedure—can help reduce anxiety, build trust, and create a sense of safety. For patients facing illness, injury, or hospitalization, the presence of someone who genuinely cares can be just as important as medication or treatment. Human touch fosters emotional support, improves patient cooperation, and contributes to overall healing by promoting comfort and reducing stress. Beyond emotional support, human touch also strengthens communication and collaboration between healthcare providers and patients. When patients feel understood and respected, they are more likely to share information, ask questions, and actively participate in their care. This not only improves patient outcomes but also allows healthcare providers to make more informed decisions. Additionally, human touch helps build relationships within the healthcare team. Demonstrating empathy and respect toward both patients and colleagues creates a positive environment that benefits everyone involved in care. In my future career as a nurse, I plan to integrate the human touch in every interaction, balancing technical expertise with compassion. Whether it is providing comfort during a procedure, listening to a patient’s concerns, or offering encouragement during recovery, I understand that these personal connections are central to high-quality care. The human touch reminds me that nursing is not just about treating a condition—it is about caring for the whole person, supporting their emotional, physical, and psychological needs, and leaving a lasting positive impact on their lives.

A Teacher Who Changed My Life Throughout high school, I have had teachers who challenged me academically, but one who has deeply influenced me both as a student and as a person is Mrs. Puetz, my math teacher for three years. From the first day I entered her classroom, she made it clear that she cared not only about my learning but also about my growth, my confidence, and my well-being. Her dedication and support have shaped the way I approach challenges in school, work, and life. Math has not always been easy for me, and I often struggled to understand concepts as quickly as some of my peers. What made a difference with Mrs. Puetz was her willingness to meet me where I was. I remember countless afternoons after school when I stayed behind so she could work with me one-on-one, patiently explaining problems until I understood them. Even when I had to switch to online learning after tearing my ACL, she went above and beyond to make sure I didn’t fall behind. She adapted lessons, provided extra help, and treated me with the same respect and encouragement she gave every student, making me feel seen not just as someone struggling with math, but as a person with potential. What impacted me most was how she balanced professionalism with genuine care. She treated me with respect, listened to my concerns, and celebrated my successes, no matter how small. This taught me an important lesson about the value of empathy, patience, and dedication. Her example has influenced the way I approach other areas of my life: I’ve learned to persevere through challenges, ask for help when I need it, and approach others with respect and understanding. I realized that success is not just about talent or intelligence—it is about persistence, hard work, and the people who encourage you along the way. Beyond academics, Mrs. Puetz also inspired me to take ownership of my learning and to be proactive. She showed me that asking questions and seeking help are signs of strength, not weakness, and that taking initiative can turn obstacles into opportunities. These lessons have stayed with me, shaping how I approach school, work, and future goals, including my career aspirations in nursing. Her dedication to her students has motivated me to help others in the same way, whether it’s supporting peers, volunteering in the community, or mentoring others in areas where I have knowledge and experience. In conclusion, Mrs. Puetz has been more than a teacher—she has been a mentor, a role model, and a source of encouragement during some of my most challenging moments. Her patience, respect, and unwavering support taught me the importance of perseverance, empathy, and taking initiative. Thanks to her influence, I approach challenges with confidence, treat others with kindness, and strive to make a positive impact in both my academic and personal life. The lessons I learned from Mrs. Puetz will continue to guide me as I pursue my goals and navigate the future.

Faith and My Educational Journey My relationship with Jesus has been a guiding force in my life, shaping not only my personal decisions but also how I interact with others and approach challenges. As an active member of Holy Family Church in Fond du Lac, I have learned the importance of living according to the Word of the Lord, trusting God’s plan, and seeking guidance through prayer. Attending services, participating in church activities, and engaging in discussions about faith have strengthened my connection to Jesus and given me a foundation for making decisions rooted in compassion, integrity, and humility. This relationship has influenced the way I interact with others in my school and community. I try to live out the teachings of Christ by encouraging kindness, offering support to those in need, and sharing the Word of the Lord with peers when appropriate. For example, I have shared Scripture and encouragement with classmates who were struggling, helping them find hope and perspective through faith. I have also been inspired to create opportunities for fellowship, and I am interested in starting or being part of a Bible study club at school. Such a club would provide students with a safe space to explore Scripture, ask questions about faith, and build a community grounded in Christ’s teachings. This initiative would allow me to not only strengthen my own faith but also support others in their spiritual journeys. Integrating my faith into my educational journey also means applying the lessons of Jesus to my academic and personal growth. His teachings encourage diligence, humility, and service, all of which are essential for success in school and future careers. By maintaining these values, I strive to be a student who is not only committed to learning but also to uplifting others. Whether through group projects, extracurricular activities, or volunteer opportunities, I aim to lead by example, demonstrating integrity, patience, and respect in every interaction. Moreover, my faith inspires me to think about how I can use my education to serve others beyond the classroom. I plan to pursue a career in nursing, and I see this as an opportunity to embody the compassion and care Christ teaches. By combining my academic preparation with my spiritual foundation, I hope to positively impact the lives of patients and colleagues while sharing God’s love through my actions. In conclusion, my relationship with Jesus shapes how I approach every aspect of my life, from school and work to community service and future career goals. Being a part of Holy Family Church has given me a strong spiritual foundation, and I am committed to integrating my faith into my educational journey by modeling Christ-like behavior, sharing Scripture, and fostering community through initiatives like a Bible study club. Through these efforts, I hope to grow academically, spiritually, and personally while encouraging others to experience the hope, guidance, and compassion that come from a relationship with Jesus.

Boldly, Unapologetically Me In high school, I often felt pressure to conform to what others considered “normal” social behavior—spending free time on trends or activities that didn’t interest me. While some classmates prioritized popularity or social media, I was passionate about healthcare and devoted extra time to dual credit classes like human anatomy, microbiology, medical terminology, AP Biology, and college-prep chemistry. Many peers questioned why I spent so much time studying instead of participating in social events, and it would have been easy to go along with them to fit in. Instead, I chose to stay true to myself and my goals. I focused on my studies, pursued my interests in healthcare, and sought opportunities to gain hands-on experience as a CNA and lifeguard. Being honest about my priorities allowed me to grow academically and personally. It also led me to Key Club, where I connected with peers who shared my values of service, leadership, and community involvement. Choosing to resist social pressure reinforced my sense of self-confidence and discipline. I realized that following my own path, even if it is different from others, leads to greater fulfillment and long-term success. This experience taught me the importance of authenticity, perseverance, and prioritizing meaningful goals over temporary approval. Staying true to myself has shaped the way I approach academics, work, and service, and it will guide me as I pursue a career in nursing, where integrity and commitment to personal values are essential. Creating Connection Creating connection has been an important part of my life, both in school and in the community. As a member of Key Club, I participate in service projects that bring people together to support a common goal, whether it’s organizing community fundraisers, volunteering at local events, or helping those in need. Through these projects, I’ve learned how small actions can make others feel included and valued, strengthening relationships and building a sense of belonging. I have also applied this skill in my work as a CNA and lifeguard. In both roles, I interact with people from diverse backgrounds, helping them feel safe, supported, and understood. For example, as a CNA, I often encourage patients who are nervous or hesitant about procedures, helping them feel comfortable and cared for. As a lifeguard, I foster teamwork and communication among staff to ensure everyone is confident and prepared. By combining these experiences, I have learned that creating connection requires empathy, patience, and active listening. Whether through Key Club projects or in professional settings, I strive to make people feel included, supported, and respected. These experiences have strengthened my ability to build community, encourage collaboration, and promote inclusivity—skills I plan to carry into my future nursing career, where creating trust and connection with patients and colleagues is essential.

How Leadership and Science Shape Our Future Leadership and science are two of the most powerful forces shaping the future. While science gives us the knowledge and tools to understand and improve the world, leadership provides the guidance, vision, and direction needed to apply that knowledge effectively. Together, they drive innovation, solve complex problems, and create a foundation for a better society. Science is essential because it expands our understanding of the natural world and provides practical solutions to challenges we face. From medical breakthroughs like vaccines and surgical techniques to advances in renewable energy and technology, scientific discoveries have transformed the way we live and interact with the world. However, scientific knowledge alone is not enough. Without strong leadership to prioritize needs, make ethical decisions, and guide teams or communities, scientific innovations may not reach their full potential or benefit those who need them most. Leadership shapes how science is applied. Effective leaders set goals, inspire collaboration, and make strategic choices that maximize positive impact. For example, in healthcare, researchers may discover life-saving treatments, but leaders in hospitals, government agencies, and public health organizations are the ones who organize distribution, educate communities, and ensure resources are used efficiently. Similarly, in environmental science, innovative solutions for climate change, such as solar energy or sustainable agriculture, require leaders to implement policies, coordinate global efforts, and inspire collective action. When leadership and science work together, they create a future where challenges are met with informed strategies and progress benefits society as a whole. Leadership ensures that scientific advancements are used ethically and responsibly, while science provides the knowledge and innovation necessary for effective decision-making. This combination allows societies to adapt to change, improve quality of life, and address global problems in ways that are both sustainable and impactful. In conclusion, leadership and science are deeply interconnected forces shaping our world. Science gives us the tools and understanding to innovate, while leadership ensures those tools are applied thoughtfully and effectively. Together, they empower humanity to solve challenges, improve lives, and build a future guided by knowledge, vision, and purpose.

I have always been drawn to the medical field because I want to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. I believe that through patient care, compassion, and specialized medical skills, I can positively impact the health and well-being of my community. Nursing is not only a career for me—it is a way to combine my passion for science with my desire to help others in meaningful ways. Currently, I am working as both a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a lifeguard. These roles have given me hands-on experience in medical and emergency care, teaching me the importance of responsibility, quick decision-making, and empathy. As a CNA, I have had the opportunity to provide direct care to patients, learning how to communicate effectively and support individuals in vulnerable situations. As a lifeguard, I am trained to respond to emergencies, ensuring the safety of those in my care. Both experiences have reinforced my desire to pursue nursing and have given me a strong foundation in medical skills, patient interaction, and crisis management. Academically, I have prepared for a career in healthcare through a rigorous high school curriculum that includes multiple dual credit courses. I have completed classes in microbiology, human anatomy, medical terminology, AP biology, and college-prep chemistry. My connection to the military has also had a significant and positive impact on my life. My stepbrother serves in the Air Force, and observing his dedication, discipline, and commitment to service has inspired me to adopt similar values in my own life. His service has shown me the importance of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance, and has reinforced my desire to contribute positively to my community. The discipline and structure that come with a military connection have influenced the way I approach school, work, and long-term planning for my career. In the future, I plan to use my nursing skills to make a meaningful difference in my community by providing high-quality patient care, educating others on health and wellness, and serving as a compassionate advocate for my patients. I want to specialize in a field that allows me to address critical health needs while continuing to grow professionally and personally. My Experiences with Finances and Planning for the Future Managing money and planning for the future has been an important part of my life, especially as a full-time student balancing work and school responsibilities. I have been working as a lifeguard, which has given me the opportunity to earn my own income while also learning the value of saving and making thoughtful financial choices. From early on, I understood that money earned is not just for immediate spending—it is a tool that can help me reach bigger goals, like funding my education and preparing for my career. This mindset has helped me develop discipline and a strong sense of responsibility when it comes to my finances. Currently, I am focused on saving money for my future college expenses, particularly for room and board. I know that attending college is a significant financial commitment, and I will likely need to take out student loans to cover part of the costs. Because of this, I am dedicated to saving as much as possible now, so I can reduce the amount I will need to borrow. Balancing work and school has not always been easy, but it has taught me valuable lessons in time management, prioritization, and long-term planning. Every shift I work and every dollar I save brings me one step closer to achieving my academic and professional goals, and this sense of progress motivates me to stay disciplined. Looking ahead, my career goal is to become a nurse, with aspirations to specialize as a Nurse Anesthetist, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), or as a nurse practitioner in a specialized field. These are demanding and highly skilled professions that require years of education, training, and dedication. I recognize that pursuing this path will involve not only significant time and effort but also careful financial planning. By saving now and learning about personal finance, I am creating a foundation that will allow me to focus on my education and career without being overwhelmed by unnecessary financial stress. I also plan to use the knowledge I gain about budgeting, loans, and financial management to make smart decisions about my money throughout college and beyond. Financial education is not just about knowing how to manage money—it is about understanding how to use it to create opportunities for growth and success. My experiences saving money, budgeting my earnings, and preparing for college have taught me that financial responsibility is closely linked to personal and professional achievement. These lessons are already shaping the way I approach my goals and will continue to guide me as I work toward becoming a skilled, compassionate healthcare professional. In conclusion, my experiences with finances have provided me with practical knowledge, personal discipline, and a clear vision for the future. By saving money earned from my work as a lifeguard, preparing for college expenses, and planning for student loans, I am taking proactive steps toward achieving my dreams. I am confident that applying the lessons I have learned about financial responsibility will not only help me succeed in school but also enable me to pursue a meaningful career as a nurse, nurse anesthetist, or nurse practitioner, while maintaining stability and independence throughout my life.
