Wrestling changed my life and especially my perspective on life. it’s has shown and grown me into a man that understands that in everything you do it must be 100% percent effort or why try at all and if you don’t want it then it must not be for you.
My adversity through life is what drawn me to the sport wrestling. The adversity its self has always been in my life since my adversity was my family. I say this because both of parents including my two older brothers are substance abusers. My oldest brother overdoes twice and almost died from fentanyl. And both of my parents not only abused the fentanyl but also each other and me and brothers. My mother and father also have bipolar and anger issues that effected us from the ripe age of where a kids start remembering because not only have I seen my father and mother in cuffs but also seen them exchanging blows and overall hurting each other because they were hurt and hurt other people because of the pain they felt. Since I was in 6th grade I have been kicked out, in child protective custody, and more. But theirs was one good thing out of all that pain and suffrage and it was wrestling. I say that because when I was in child perspective services custody the sport was all I had. Since it was the only place where it felt like I was control and valued because both of my coaches took me under their wing and showed me such beautiful sport that I fell in love. and since I got to the be a 4 times state qualifier and 1 time national qualifier in the state Arizona while also being awarded the coach Cluff character award. This award sits close to my because it’s shows that I am the difference and I am the change within this family. That wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for wrestling and just me wanting to just get better for I can get an athletic scholarship and wanting to start my own business in electrical. I chose that trade out of all because I work as apprentices at springs and son electrical and I as much as I want continue wrestling, one day I have to move on. wrestling has showed me you make the odds when you start and how determined you want something in life will determine the result. And I am determined to get that business economics degree while I continue my wrestling career at the university of Ottawa in Kansas. And one of my biggest challenges is paying for the tuition, but I am not scared cause even if I don’t win this scholarship it’s not going to stop me from achieving my goal. Because I also have to be change the in family. And be the example where anyone from the next generation can be something even in this family so I must keep on not be sacred of the odds and the challenges. As that will just be a test on how bad I want this future. I wouldn’t have this same goal if it wasn’t for wrestling so I must just say thank you.
