I currently work as a Data Manager for a nonprofit organization that serves individuals and families in my community. Even though I don't work directly with clients every day, I know the work I do matters. The information I manage helps make sure people receive the services they need, referrals are tracked correctly, and our leadership has accurate data to make decisions. One of my favorite parts of my job is looking at a process and asking myself, "There has to be a better way to do this." Since starting my position, I've built new Excel tools, automated reports with Power Query, and started learning VBA to cut down on repetitive tasks. My coworkers and managers have been really supportive because these improvements save time and make everyone's job a little easier. What I enjoy most is seeing something I created solve a real problem in real time. Knowing that those improvements allow our staff to spend more time helping clients instead of dealing with spreadsheets makes the work even more rewarding. My parents immigrated from Mexico to give our family more opportunities.
