Hi! I'm Alex. I am from Danbury, CT and am 25 years old. I am also a first-generation college student from an Ecuadorian family. I'm extremely passionate about sports. I love how sports influence people of all cultures and how it can unite people together. I have always strived to be a role model for my siblings. Being the oldest of three, I found a job that paved my way to college, the US Navy. It taught me resilience through character, effort, and courage. Finally, at the age of 23, once I was honorably separated, I began college. I found that passion and drive to achieve my future goals through the military. I still aim to be the best version of myself that I can be, to demonstrate to my siblings that they can overcome obstacles to achieve who they want to become. Through hard work and dedication, I believe that I can reach any objective I have set for myself. All in all, I want to make my family proud, as well as making myself proud. Through these scholarships, I would be another step closer to reaching my objectives.
