As a returning student, I already know what it takes to succeed in both undergraduate (BS in Ecology 2022, GPA 3.36) and graduate school (MFA in Creative Writing 2005, GPA 3.81), and I have pursued personal growth avidly for all of my adult life. I look forward to more formalized learning in therapeutic techniques and psychological theories as I pursue a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I also bring years of practice with Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (Ross Greene, PhD), and I hope to highlight the power of collaborative problem-solving over traditional behavior modification, showing how therapeutic interventions can be more effective when we address the needs behind challenging behaviors or habits.
After completing a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy (2027), I plan to incorporate mindfulness, self-compassion, and stress management into therapy to address both the emotional and physical components of my clients' well-being. In particular, I hope to explore how self-regulation techniques can be integrated into treatment plans for clients dealing with chronic stress or emotional dysregulation. I am committed to helping others through emotional and mental health support; I will offer trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, systemic therapy, in-person and covered by both private and public insurance, where I can help people create sustainable solutions to their challenges.
Other interests: science, education, philosophy, health, well-being, mindfulness, journaling, yoga, somatic movement, music, movies, nature, and writing.
