My pursuit of advanced degree studies stems from a profound commitment to transform systems that have failed marginalized communities. This journey equips me with clinical acumen and therapeutic precision necessary to catalyze genuine change in mental health care delivery. My years in community mental health illuminated what I already knew through lived experience.
I carry intimate understanding of the mistrust permeating the African American community—warranted skepticism born from generations of institutional neglect, psychological exploitation, and systemic exclusion. My path crystallized: dismantle structural barriers to mental health equity and rebuild trust.
I am acutely aware of conspicuous gaps in current mental health paradigms and the scarcity of diverse voices in counseling. Far too few clinicians bring perspectives forged by marginalization, creating blind spots perpetuating harm against vulnerable populations. My commitment extends beyond individual therapy to cultivating trust, championing inclusion, and restoring dignity to those systematically rendered invisible.
My approach is informed by deep empathy, shaped by authentic experience, and sustained by unwavering resolve ensuring accessible, equitable care for all. I've navigated systems not designed for people like me, recognizing strength where deficit models see dysfunction.
I approach this program with intellectual humility, eager to integrate personal insight with professional knowledge, balancing cultural competence with clinical precision.
