Bio

I am going into my junior year of college and am going on a hefty academic scholarship! My first two years of college I kept a 3.77 cumulative GPA. Trying to help my parents out a little bit because I am leaving a couple of states over to compete on a D1 track team!

Rev. and Mrs. E B Dunbar Scholarship
My plan for the future is to have a voice so I can help the next generation because they so badly need it. I want to especially help children growing up the way I grew up by helping pay for clothes, food, and their future education. I want to help a struggling community struggle less like I wish someone had done for me. As a child of two Hispanic parents, I have seen FIRST HAND how hard it is to make it in this country and the struggles we have to go through. My parents can help me pay for the remaining balance of my education but this scholarship would help take that burden off their shoulders. I have worked so hard to try and help my family out with the costs of my education. I have worked in the fields and have worked as a sales representative at a trampoline park. I have applied to numerous scholarships for my new school and have received LOTS of support, I am nearly at a full ride. With the scholarship you guys are offering I would be able to help my parents not worry about me as much. I grew up an athlete my whole life and without this scholarship, I would be jeopardizing an excellent opportunity to compete at the D1 level. Competing at the D1 level has always been a goal for me. Going as a track athlete is not what I had expected for myself but it was the best opportunity I had. My father who was an excellent baseball player never had the chance to compete at the college level because he didn't have the proper documentation to try end enter college. There have been many setbacks in my parent's life but I am hoping my reaching my goal of becoming a D1 athlete will be a huge win for them and the rest of my family. The only thing stopping me is the financial support. I have been extremely driven my entire life and I don't want the lack of financial support to be the reason I wasn't able to get through my final few college years. The person reading this might be thinking that 500 dollars won't be a lot of help at a university but with the drive and determination that I was gifted, I was able to obtain $16,806 in scholarships and grants. My college's tuition us upwards of 17k! I appreciate the time you have given to read this essay. I am hoping that you guys will consider me as a recipient. Thank you!
