The field of biotechnology has always enticed me because it bridges the gap between biology and technology and creates endless possibilities to heal diseases by focusing on the root of the problem and finding cutting-edge solutions. I plan to go into biotechnology to help discover such cutting-edge techniques to save lives worldwide. Further, I plan to give back by becoming a mentor to students interested in science. Additionally, I want to foster change to help minorities get equal access to healthcare. As a black girl, I've seen firsthand the detrimental effects the lack of quality medical care had on my own family. I plan to effect change in the medical world by being involved in both the research side and the practice of medicine. I can combine these two disciplines to provide top care to my patients.
