Bold PointsBio
Hi, my name is Alana. I'm 17 years old. I have a sister who is 11 and a brother who is 15. This means I'm the oldest so I don't know much about college. My life goals are to own a successful business one day and plan events (specifically parties). I plan to major in hospitality to help me get there. My hobbies are dancing, and skiing, and I watch true crime. When I was around 12 I planned a family trip to Disney World. I picked the parks we went to and looked up rides beforehand. I found what fast passes were. I also found a beach to go to during the same trip. I'm researching and applying to as many scholarships as possible colleges independently. I love traveling and am always wanting to go somewhere new.

ADHDAdvisor's Mental Health Advocate Scholarship for Health Students
I have been helping others by being there for my friends and family during hard times. I'm always here for them to vent about their problems and give advice to help them even if they just need a little hug. I will be studying hospitality so I can learn how to treat people with grace and understanding while giving them the service they have requested. In my future career, I want to be an event planner. Planning events will take the stress off of other people's hands. I will be there so they can just relax and have fun without having to worry about planning anything.
Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
I am a fan of Sabrina Carpenter because I love her music energy, and acting. I've been a fan of her since her Disney Channel days as Maya Hart on Girl Meets World. I have seen every episode. She did an amazing job portraying her as a spunky and rebellious girl. As for her music, she has very funny and clever lyrics. Her lyrics are very relatable. I have felt the heartbreak she has described so well in her songs. Her voice is a powerhouse and her outfits are so cute. Her creativity is amazing. I loved listening to her Nonsense outro's when she would make up a new one every time she performed on the spot. Currently, on her tour, she is doing poses for her song Juno and I never miss it.
Her career has inspired me to keep going. She has been releasing music for about 10 years but finally got her big break this year. She creates a community of supportive people who can come together and relate to her music. I went to her show this year and it was easily the best concert I've ever been to. The visuals, the dancers, the interactions with the crowd, the music, etc. It was worth the 6-hour drive to see Sabrina Carpenter on her Short n' Sweet tour. On the day Kamala Harris lost the 2024 US election Sabrina made sure to let women know she felt sorry for them because their right to reproductive help will likely be taken away. She made everyone at the show feel welcome.
GUTS- Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
Olivia Rodrigo's album GUTS perfectly captures the essence of adolescence and the challenges that come with it. It is a love letter to Olivia's teenage experience.
A lyric from Olivia Rodrigo's GUTS resonates with my teenage experience: "When will it stop being cool to be quietly misunderstood?" This lyric is from the song "Teenage Dream." I've been misunderstood in my teenage years, but nobody seems to know that. No one knows how I feel just by looking at me. No one checks in on me to ask me how I'm doing. I act like I'm fine when I'm not. In reality, I'm very stressed with all the schoolwork I have to do, my grades, my self-esteem, etc. My grades determine my future and that puts a lot of stress on me. I have no one I feel comfortable with to talk to about everything I am going through. I feel that people assume everyone is fine. I am very quiet so I'm quietly misunderstood. People assume I am quiet because I don't want to talk to people but I actually would love to have at least one good friendship where I feel like I can trust someone and be my true self around them.
The lyric "When will it stop being cool to be quietly misunderstood?" captures the essence of adolescence and the challenges that come with it. Teenagers are very moody, I can say this because I am one myself. Many adults don't seem to understand why. They know it is because of hormones but they fail to see that we teenagers are under a lot of stress as well. There is a trend that is currently going around where it is cool to be nonchalant and mysterious. This further gives into the idea that it is good to be quietly misunderstood when in reality it is detrimental to our mental health. Many teens have committed suicide because they felt they had no one who would talk to them and understand them. I was once suicidal for this reason. There are also unrealistic expectations put on teenagers to somehow have their future figured out in their teenage years and body image.
These are some reasons why the lyric "When will it stop being cool to be quietly misunderstood?" resonates with my own teenage experience and captures the essence of being a teenager and the challenges that come with it.
Billie Eilish Fan Scholarship
I love all of Billie Eilish's songs. Her music is so unique with captivating lyrics. My top three Billie Eilish songs are "TV", "Your Power", and "I Love You".
One of her songs that I deeply resonate with is "TV". As it says in the lyrics, "I don't wanna talk right now. I just wanna watch TV." I like to watch TV whenever I'm upset and need to escape the world. Another lyric I relate to is I'll try not to starve myself. I often don't like to eat because I don't like how my body looks and it is easier to starve than try to diet so I lose weight. In the song, she mentions the overturning of Roe v. Wade which she has expressed sadness towards and I feel the same way. I want all women to be able to choose what they want to do with their bodies. It is not fair for the government to decide that. The last lyric I resonate with in this song is "And I don't get along with anyone. Maybe I'm the problem." I mostly talk to just my family and we argue a lot. I don't exactly have friends because I find it exhausting to try and communicate worry about hurting someone. I push everyone away. I'd rather be alone. I'm the problem as to why I barely have friends and talk to them once a month.
The next song I have a special connection to is "Your Power". "Your Power" is about using your power to abuse people. The lyrics say, "Try not to abuse your power." I had an inappropriate relationship with an adult and I was a minor. He used his power to control me by cutting me off from my friends and family as much as possible. This relates to the lyric "Does it keep you in control? (In control) For you to keep her in a cage." I have thankfully gotten out of that relationship.
The last song I will be talking about is "I Love You." I was in a toxic relationship and I loved them but I didn't want to. As Billie said, "I love you and I don't want to." I was so desperate to be in a relationship so I ignored all the red flags.
This is why I resonate deeply with these Billie Eilish songs. Relating to these songs is one reason I love Billie Eilish's music.
Chappell Roan Superfan Scholarship
Chappell Roan's music is so refreshing because it is very honest and many people wouldn't admit what she does in her music. I love how open she is with her identity as a lesbian in the LGBTQ+ community. I am also a part of the community and she makes me feel more seen. I relate to her music a lot. Her voice is amazing and very unique. Chappell has created a super welcoming community where everyone can keep on dancing at the Pink Pony Club. She embraces everyone to be their true selves. Whenever she performs she will always put on an amazing show with creative costumes and amazing songs.
She is so confident and I aspire to have her level of confidence. It is very nice to see her stand up for herself against stalkers. Not many celebrities do this and it gives people a reality check that celebrities are real people who need privacy just like anyone else. I love her style and makeup. Chappell is very creative with all of her music and her outfits. She stands up for what she believes in without a care in the world about what anyone else thinks. Chappell went from a little girl growing up in the midwest to an award-winning artist.
Team USA Fan Scholarship
My favorite athlete to cheer for on Team USA is Simone Biles in Women's Gymnastics. Simone Biles has won 11 Olympic medals including 7 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze. It is amazing watching her do what feels like the impossible. I also love watching gymnastics and am inspired by them, especially by Simone Biles. She has invented new moves no one has competed before. I also love that she put her mental and physical health before her career. She was very brave to do this and risked losing her career. It is not well-known for people to advocate for their mental health and this helps other people speak up and know they are not alone in their struggles. If Simone continued to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics she could've gotten seriously injured due to twisties. Twisties are when athletes lose sense of their body in the air which is crucial for gymnasts as it can lead to serious injury or even paralysis. She has healed from the twisties and made an incredible comeback. In the 2024 Paris Olympics Simone won 4 Olympic medals. She is in my opinion the best gymnast in the world. She is known as the G.O.A.T. for a reason.
