Hi Im Alana. Art has been my passion since I was a toddler drawing on my mother's walls. As I grew older, I developed my love for photography, which is why I pursued an associate's degree in photography. I got my associate's degree in applied science, majoring in photography, from Mott community college in December 2019. I took two years off of college due to covid and life and in the fall of 2022 went back to college and started attending Western Michigan University with the plan to apply to the graphic design program in the spring of 2023 semester. However, after the fall semester ended I realized that I did not want to study graphic design and switched my major to Art history with a minor in art. Switching my major and minor really aligns better with what I'm passionate about and who I am as a person and artist. My goal is to get my bachelor's degree in art history and use it to work in art museums or art galleries while putting my minor in art to use by being able to make and sell my own artwork on the side. I love traveling and believe people can learn so much from traveling to new destinations, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures. In the summer of 2019, I went on my first trip outside the USA to Italy. In June of 2022, I went on a trip to Ireland. These two experiences have given me memories and knowledge I will never forget and have made me a better person. Being awarded scholarships would be a great blessing that would allow me to focus more on achieving my goals and lessen the debt I will be in once graduating.
