Since an early age, I have always felt a certain compulsion to have a genuine and positive impact on my surroundings. Upon entering high school and recognizing the highly populated nature of such an environment, I quickly grew elated at the plethora of new opportunities accessible for me to do such. After forming numerous connections with my peers and looking into the several different extracurricular options available, I came to understand that none of them truly intrigued me enough to commit to, as well as that their inherent nature of being already established deterred me from joining them, given my acknowledgement that simply joining an already formed and recognized group would not allow me to make as large of an impact as creating any entirely new one could. With this in mind, in my sophomore year, I researched various options available to me and decided upon establishing a Key Club charter within my school, as at the time, I viewed it as the most simple and direct way to have a positive influence on my school and community. It took some time to heighten the club's reputation and amass a respectable amount of members, but with effort, all of that has been achieved and in doing so, has allowed me to enliven many of my member's passions for community service and improve many of my peer's situations, whether it be through providing them with clothing or offering engaging activities on campus for them to enjoy or express themselves through. I have had the immense privilege of seeing my members have their passions for community service become ignited and discover the importance behind giving back to their community. The year following, I decided to establish a Business & Investing Club at the school and provide educational lectures on the fields of economics, business, and investing, with hopes of improving the financial literacy of as many students as possible in order to better their futures. Before the establishment of the club, I was greatly concerned over the lack of financial education to the students of my school, as well as how their future socioeconomic situations would be. With this in mind, I discovered a way to bring about a positive impact on some of their lives through me trying to conduct research and share as much knowledge as I can with my peers in a digestable manner. I have joyfully been able to notice genuine improvement in the knowledge of many of my members, preparing them better for their eventual adulthood and personal financial responsibilities. Subsequently within the same year, I also ran for and won the senior class president position, desiring and succeeding to alter some of the practices within my school that I felt were outdated or inadequate. I currently aspire to attain a four year education at SDSU, where I plan to major in Business Economics. Following my attaining of a bachelor's degree, I plan to attend law school and take the bar exam, where I will hopefully progress my career as a corporate attorney. Coming from a family that has always struggled financially, it will be a very difficult endeavor to afford my education and given such, this scholarship will immensely aid me in fulfilling my aspirations.
