John Young 'Pursue Your Passion' Scholarship
The reason I have chosen to be in the medical field is because I am very passionate about helping people and encouraging people and also teaching them the important matters of health and what health is and how a person can and should take care of their physical body.I also have chosen my field of interest because since I was little I always wanted to make an impact and bring a smile to someone's day, and I just love the idea of being a great service to and for my community. The way I desire to create an impact is by being there for my patients and their families, continuing to bring joy to their world and take the burden off their shoulders. I also will create a great impact by always speaking up for my patients and making sure I listen to what the patient is struggling with or what the patient needs, and I want to make sure my patient feels validated—not only validated but feels like someone does actually care about them, and that I will continue to keep pushing them to get better, and no matter how hard it is, I will continue to guide them along the way. The reason I chose my field personally is because I have family members who have experienced breast cancer who have had worries about their health, and the doctors would tell them nothing was wrong with them and would just brush off their concerns. For that reason, I want to be able to help patients and just be their moral support and help them feel like they are heard, and just be the reason they have this giant burden lifted off their shoulders. I also choose my career path because I want to be able to ensure the safety of my patients and their families. I want them to know they can call on me, and I will do everything I can to continue to support them and also give my all to them. Personal goals for me that will help me achieve my career path are being dedicated, not just dedicated to my job but also dedicated to myself, and also being responsible and accountable, always holding myself accountable right or wrong, always being consistent, always striving to be the best I can be, and continuing to support not just myself but also my family, my patients, and my community. In conclusion, this is why I chose the path that I am on now and how I feel I can create a great impact on my future career path in life.
Strong Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship
WinnerWhat makes a great leader to me personally in my own life? I always put my best foot forward, whether it be in schoolwork, at home, or in clubs. I always step up to the plate. Like what makes me a leader is that I currently work at the Medical University of South Carolina. I have been stepping up by helping new employees that come in and have been training them and show them how things are supposed to be tackled when it comes to registering patients or scheduling surgeries. I feel like I am a great leader because when it comes to clubs at my school, I step up to the plate with decorating things and setting up for events that need to be done by putting up flyers, helping organize the venue, and making sure that everything is in place and ready to go. Like what makes a great leader is someone who constantly steps up, even when no one is expecting that individual to like what makes a good leader is someone who does not mind helping someone, whether it is adamantly or just needing someone to talk to. I feel like that is what makes a great leader. I feel like a leader is someone who has their own thinking skills and is always being themselves. They never allow anyone to change them, even when they get around different crowds. I feel like a great leader is someone who does not mind helping people and someone who does not mind making a difference, whether that difference be in school or within their community. They do not mind volunteering at work, school, or within their community. I also feel like what makes a great leader is someone who is always taking charge of a situation, regardless of how challenging or difficult it may seem to them; they tackle it straight on, and a great leader is also a person who doesn't mind asking for help when they don't understand something because sometimes, as a leader, you may need help as well, so being a great leader means knowing when it's okay to ask for help and when it's okay to just sometimes give yourself a break. To me, being a great leader means knowing when you must have teamwork and sometimes letting other people lead with you because, as leaders, sometimes we cannot just do it by ourselves. Overall, this is what I think makes a great leader, and what I feel helps as well.
Cariloop’s Caregiver Scholarship
The caregiving experience I have taken on in my life is one at home with my own family members who have been sick or are going through health issues. I can also say another caregiving experience I have is working at the Medical University of South Carolina as a Patient Access Representative, being able to help patients get the care and help they need by checking them in and also being there to make their situation better, rather than with scheduling appointments for them or helping them get to the right destination for their appointment. I am here to bring a smile to their faces, and not just their faces but my face as well, because I am enthusiastic about what I do with my experience. The way the care-giving experiences have helped me with personal goals is currently right now that I am in school at Charleston Southern. There, I am in the pre-med club and can help people and help with community service as well. I also want to have this caregiving experience is helping motivate me, mold me into a better version of myself, and remind me that although days may be cloudy and rainy, but tomorrow always brings a rainbow. This has also impacted my personal goals in life because It has motivated me to go further when I think I have gone further keep going until I hit the finish line which for me is getting my doctors in physician assistance and being able to be there for children in my community and be able to make a major impact on society within doctor offices or with in traveling as a provider to make a difference .The way my care giving experience has impacted my identity is one it has molded me to be better then who I used to be and to also understand that some people go through things and also need more help and sometimes just a simple word of encouragement or motivation means a lot and can bring a smile on an individual face throughout the day .Me having care giving experience also has helped me with my self-identity and helped me go on this journey of life that has led me to constantly just want to not only make a difference within my community but also within the world as well and I just feel like personally with my self-identity me having this experience is also pushing me to make the world a better place and also make people day and also be able to say to myself hey look how far you have come and look at the greatness you have done in the world care giving experience not only helps me with my own mental health but I also can help others with there and also be a shoulder for these families to be able to lean on and make a difference in their life instead of them always having to deal with rain storms they can deal with a few rainbows and sunshine’s .In conclusion this is the personal journey and trip that caregiving has gave me and the identity as well
