      Milan Alexander Memorial Scholarship
      Winner
I believe I am a strong candidate for the Milan Alexander Memorial Scholarship because of my dedication to excellence, resilience in the face of challenges, and passion for creating meaningful impact in my community and future career. As a freshman Business Management major at Southern University, I am already laying the foundation to become a successful entrepreneur and the future owner of a global luxury real estate brokerage that empowers Black women in high-end markets. My ultimate goal is to build a business that not only thrives financially but also creates opportunities, representation, and generational wealth for women of color in industries where we are often underrepresented. Coming from a military family and being a first-generation college student, I’ve learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and responsibility at an early age. My parents taught me that success isn’t handed to you, you earn it through dedication and integrity. Growing up with five siblings, I also learned how to be resourceful and disciplined, often balancing school, family duties, and part-time work to contribute where I could. These experiences have instilled in me a deep appreciation for education and the opportunities it creates. However, they’ve also made it clear that financial support is essential for me to continue pursuing my goals without the constant burden of financial stress. This scholarship would make a meaningful difference in helping me focus more on my studies, professional development, and community service. Community involvement has always been a cornerstone of who I am. At Southern University, I actively participate in campus clean-up days, where I help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all students. I also volunteer at football game day tailgates, assisting with event coordination and hospitality to help strengthen school spirit and unity. Additionally, I serve at the campus food pantry, where we distribute meals and essential items to students in need. These experiences have taught me the importance of leadership through service—understanding that small acts of kindness can make a large impact on others’ lives. They’ve also reinforced my belief that success is most meaningful when it uplifts others along the way. In my future career, I plan to combine business innovation with social impact. My vision for my real estate company is to create a network that not only connects clients with luxury properties but also invests in mentorship programs, financial literacy workshops, and business grants for aspiring Black female entrepreneurs. I want to show that leadership rooted in purpose and compassion can create both profit and progress. Receiving the Milan Alexander Memorial Scholarship would help me continue my journey toward becoming that kind of leader. It would allow me to focus on my education, grow as a businesswoman, and keep serving my community while turning my dreams into reality. With this support, I will continue striving to break barriers, build generational success, and inspire others to do the same.
