As I have begun my college journey I have had to start thinking about what my future will look like. In order to obtain the future I want, I have to set goals. My main goal is to succeed in college and enjoy what I am doing. I plan to get my masters in biochemistry and then apply/enter medical school; however, in order to obtain that goal I have to focus on my studies and prioritize school. Part of the college experience is to grow as a person outside of just education. I will be finding our who I am as an individual person, and becoming an adult. In this aspect my goal would be to perfectly balance school and my social life. After undergrad school I plan on applying and hopefully getting into medical school to pursue my passion of helping others with their health and confidence. Joining this specialty is my number one goal apart from just being happy, so I will for sure be putting in all the work I need to achieve it. Without goals, everything in life is almost pointless. People achieve their dreams and successes in this world because they set goals for themselves, much like I am. Financially my hard work is what will have to provide this success and achievement towards my goals. I was not dealt with a financially secured path to help me get there. Earned scholarships are what will help me continue to achieve this journey I am on called life. I am so excited to be fortunate enough to have this opportunity to live out my dream.

WinnerGrowing up and going through puberty is a universal concept that everyone has to go through. It's definitely easier on some than others, but for me it has been the inspiring factor that has driven me to realize what I want to do for the rest of my life. Like many, as I went through puberty I developed pretty severe hormonal acne and was overall just flooded with insecurities. After my first dermatologist appointment however, I recognized that this very common condition was not just an insecurity, but the reason behind my future in dermatology.
Anyone who has grown up with acne knows how detrimental it can be to your mental health. It is almost all you can see when you look in the mirror and can even get so bad you do not want to go out. To deal with my acne, I went to a local dermatologist which made me realize my passion in the field of study. I was at first frustrated because the multiple medicines and topical ointments I was given were not working, but then my doctor recommended the last solution which was a very strong treatment called Accutane. Accutane is very harsh on one's body with multiple negative side effects but guaranteed success, hence why it is the last solution. After going on Accutane and thankfully not experiencing the worse of it's effects, my skin is now clear and I do not have to go about my days hyper fixating on my face.
After noticing how beautiful I felt and having the weight of acne lifted off my shoulders, I realized that I would love to help others feel the way I felt after going to my dermatologist. Me being the researcher I am of course, I looked up everything I needed to know about the field. I was surprised to learn that dermatology not only focuses on its patients' skin, but their hair and nails as well which interested me even more. When I think about it, it really is not that surprising I want to be dermatologist. I have always been intrigued with that kind of niche whether it was examining every step of a James Charles makeup tutorial or memorizing random celebrities skin care routine thinking it would make me look just like them. It is something about self care and making someone feel comfortable in their own skin that I absolutely adore. Not only do I want to get my degree in dermatology, but I also plan to open a Medi-spa as well, where I would offer cosmetic procedures like lip filler, Botox, waxes, and etc. in order to make others feel their best.
Even though I still have an occasional breakout every once in a while, it does not bother me. It reminds me of the reason that inspired to take on such a great career and passion. Although acne is such a struggle for so many people, it does not define any of us. It is a small bump in the road that helps make us who we are or if you are like me, helps you decide your future.
