My full name is Julianna Ilisa Aguilar, though I go by Jules. I'm a Latina, first-gen college student looking to pursue my BSN at Radford University. I am the oldest of 4, and am fortunate to have the most amazing, supportive parents that encouraged me to pursue higher education. For work, I'm an inpatient oncology nurse. To stay active, I love hiking, weightlifting, and am a competitive BJJ purple belt. I also love reading and listening to heavy metal. I grew up a military brat, looking up to my father serving in the Navy instilled in me a sense of service to others. Through my earlier education, I was heavily involved in Girl Scouts, volunteering at our elderly facility, food bank, and working as a counselor and lifeguard at GS camp teaching young girls the joys of nature and community service. I even joined Boy Scouts when they later admitted girls into their ranks. I enjoy giving back to my community and that's what I hope to do with my career. I'd like to continue my education, earn my BSN, further my knowledge of hematology/oncology, infusion/chemotherapy, and vascular access and preservation. Then eventually becoming an oncology/infusion nurse practitioner or vascular access nurse. Through my previous experience with the inspirational healthcare workers during the pandemic, and my current experiences, I strive to continue advocating for the marginalized and providing equitable care.
