Bio

Everyone calls me Jules but my full name is Julianna Ilisa Aguilar. I'm a Latina, lgbtq+ member, first-gen college student currently pursuing nursing at Eastern Virginia Career College. I am the oldest of 4, and am fortunate enough to have the most amazing, supportive parents that encouraged me to pursue higher education. For work, I'm an EMT in the ER and a percussion instructor at the local highschool marching band. To stay active, I love hiking and other outdoor activities, weightlifting, and am an avid practitioner of BJJ. I also love reading and listening to heavy metal. Throughout my earlier education, I was heavily involved in Girl Scouts, volunteering at our elderly facility, food bank, and working as a counselor and lifeguard at Girl Scout camp teaching young girls the joys of nature and community service. I even joined Boy Scouts when they later admitted girls into their ranks. I enjoy giving back to my community and that's what I hope to do with my career. I'd like to become a pediatric trauma/ED or neonatal family nurse practitioner. I'm also interested in applying to physician assistant school and becoming a trauma or emergency medicine PA. Through my previous experiences and seeing the inspirational healthcare providers sacrifice so much to tackle the pandemic head on, I knew nursing was my calling and I'm ready to advocate for the marginalized and provide equitable care. Thank you donors for taking the time to review my profile. I am grateful to have so many opportunities that could financially allow me to reach my goals and pursue my education.

I want to feel fulfilled, like I've made a difference, and to know that I've helped someone. I want be able to instill these values into others, to encourage others to do the same. I know these aren't technically big dreams, but I feel that if everyone were to have this mindset, the difference that could be made in the world would be powerful and significant, it could create real change.
