Trades Make the World Go 'Round
My name is Agnes Exantus, I am 23 years old. A bit lost in this world and trying to find my way. I began my undergrad career back in 2018, I was constantly overwhelmed and something always stood in the way of me being successful. I was academically dismissed back in 2022 with only a semester and a half left to graduate. I was told that I have to take classes else where for either a year or 3 semesters. I took time to myself and regrouped to figure out my best option. One day I decided to inquire about a practical nursing program in the area. I was lost and afraid because time was ticking and I felt as if I was not accomplishing anything. Nursing is a field I tired running away from for years. I grew up in a family full of nurses and I never seen it in the cards for myself. I took a leap in faith and applied, I had to take an entrance exam in order to be considered. I spent the entire summer studying for the entrance exam and I joined a program that paid for me to become a certified nurse aid. Within the summer I began falling in love with the profession. I always shied from the profession, only to realize I am a NATURAL. As I am halfway through the program? My grades are way better than they have ever been throughout my undergraduate career and I am actually happy, despite the early mornings and late nights. The only thing standing in my way at the moment is paying for school so that I am eligible to sit for my boards exam. So I’m a sense this trade chose me, as I was leaning on my own understanding God kept trying to show me that my plans weren’t his plans for me.
