My name is Adrian Wilson-King, and I am pursuing a degree in Automotive Technology because I have always been passionate about understanding how things work, especially engines, machines, and the systems that keep vehicles running. From a young age, I loved fixing bikes, taking apart small engines, and being fascinated by any car problems. Over time, that curiosity grew into a clear purpose: to become a skilled mechanic who not only works with cars but also uses technical skills to uplift and help my community.
I chose this degree program because I believe in the importance of skilled trades. Mechanics play a vital role in keeping our world moving, literally and economically. Yet, the field is often overlooked or underestimated. For me, it’s not just about fixing cars; it’s about problem-solving, building expertise, and proving that success doesn’t always come from a traditional four-year college path. By mastering my craft, I hope to show people of every age, but especially young people and people from underrepresented backgrounds, that trade school is a powerful and respectable path to success.
As a Half Black student in a technical field, I also recognize that I represent a small percentage of individuals pursuing this career. Currently, less than 10% of automotive service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. are Black, which shows how much room there is for greater representation. That statistic motivates me to push harder not just to excel, but to inspire. Every step I take toward becoming certified and opening my own shop one day is a step toward changing those numbers.
My goal is to give back by mentoring youth and offering hands-on workshops for teenagers interested in trades. Many young people never get the chance to explore mechanical work because they lack access to tools, programs, or encouragement. I want to build a space where they can learn, experiment, and gain confidence. By showing them that they can turn their passion into a profession, I can help open doors that might have otherwise stayed closed.
Ultimately, my mission is to break barriers, create opportunities, and show the next generation that success in the trades is within reach. Representation matters when young people see someone who looks like them succeeding in a field where they are underrepresented; it changes what they believe is possible. I want to be that example, proving that with hard work, dedication, and purpose, we can all increase the odds and drive change in our communities.

What excites me most about pursuing trade school is the opportunity to learn hands-on skills that can directly lead to a meaningful and successful career. I’ve always been someone who learns best by doing, by taking things apart, understanding how they work, and putting them back together. Trade school gives me the chance to turn that passion into a profession. Instead of just reading about engines or systems in a book, I’ll be able to work with real tools, real equipment, and real problems. That kind of practical learning motivates me every day because I know I’m gaining skills that will truly make a difference in people’s lives.
The trade I am pursuing is automotive technology, to become a certified mechanic. Ever since I was younger, I’ve been fascinated by how vehicles work—the way all the parts connect and rely on each other to make something powerful and reliable. Fixing cars is more than just a job to me; it’s a craft that requires patience, precision, and pride.
Once I graduate, my goal is to work in a professional auto repair shop to gain experience and continue learning from more seasoned mechanics. Over time, I hope to open my shop in my community. I want it to be a place that offers quality service at fair prices and creates opportunities for others to learn the trade. My dream is to start a small apprenticeship program for high school students who are interested in mechanics but don’t know how to get started. Pursuing trade school isn’t just about building a career—it’s about building a future where I can use my skills to help others. Every engine I fix, every problem I solve, and every person I help will remind me why I chose this path.
Rev. and Mrs. E B Dunbar Scholarship
Throughout my pursuit of higher education, I have faced several obstacles that have tested my determination and focus. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing schoolwork with financial responsibilities. Growing up, I often had to work part-time jobs to help support my family while balancing my schoolwork. There were times when I came home tired but still stayed up late to finish assignments or study for exams. It wasn’t always easy, but those experiences taught me discipline, time management, and the importance of never giving up, even when things get hard.
Another challenge I faced was finding motivation when I didn’t always have access to the resources that other students did. I didn’t grow up with a garage full of tools or people who worked in the trade, but I was always curious about how things worked. I would take apart small engines and watch videos to learn on my own. Even when it felt like the odds were against me, my passion for fixing things and solving mechanical problems kept me moving forward.
My goal is to become a professional mechanic, specializing in automotive repair and technology. I’ve always loved working with my hands and understanding how machines operate. I plan to continue my education in this field to gain the technical skills necessary for a successful career. But more than that, I want to use what I learn to make a positive impact in my community.
In the future, I hope to open a local auto repair shop that not only provides affordable, trustworthy service but also gives young people the opportunity to learn. I want to create internships or apprenticeships for high school students who are interested in mechanics but might not know how to get started. By sharing my skills and experiences, I can help others find a trade they love and show them that education—whether through college or technical training—can change their lives.
The obstacles I’ve overcome have made me stronger and more determined to succeed. They’ve also taught me the importance of helping others along the way. My education in automotive technology isn’t just about fixing cars—it’s about building a future where I can lift others and give back to the community that helped shape me.

Swimming has always been more than just a sport to me—it’s been a source of discipline, confidence, and community. From the moment I first dove into the water, I realized that swimming was a place where hard work always paid off, no matter who you were or where you came from. That lesson shaped me both as an athlete and as a person, and it’s what drives me to make a positive impact in my community through youth swimming. Especially since it has allowed me to give back to my community and serve as a swim instructor, teaching kids the sport that has changed my life the most, and I truly love.
Growing up, I noticed that not everyone had access to the same opportunities to learn how to swim or join a swim team. And both of my parents being certified swim coaches, I knew that many families saw swimming as a privilege instead of a skill or a way to grow. Unfortunately, this has real consequences—especially in minority and low-income communities, where drowning rates are higher due to limited access to swim lessons.I understand the struggle of paying for swim lessons coming from a low-income family, mainly living with my mom. I understand the struggle, and I know this scholarship would help so much. I want to help change that. I had a goal and mission to create more inclusive swimming programs that make the pool a safe and welcoming space for everyone, at the place that had given me so much already a place wherere i could swim a place where I could make a meanful impact to kids that wanted to learn how to swim a place where I could be a Captain for my Schools Swim Team and help the team as much as I could whitch is The Boys and Girls Club of Clifton.
One way I do this already is by teaching children the basics of swimming not only gives them a life-saving skill, but also helps them develop self-confidence, patience, and teamwork. I’ve already seen how a child’s face lights up the first time they swim a full lap or conquer their fear of deep water. Those small moments can inspire a lifelong love of the sport. Beyond just teaching strokes, I want to help young swimmers see themselves as capable, determined individuals who can achieve great things in and out of the pool.
Another goal of mine is to organize community swim days and youth meets that celebrate participation and improvement, not just winning. Many kids quit sports early because they feel pressured to be perfect. I want to build an environment where effort, friendship, and progress are valued just as much as competition. Through swimming, youth can learn essential life lessons—how to set goals, overcome challenges, and support one another.
Ultimately, I believe that swimming can be a bridge that brings people together. By making the sport more accessible and encouraging mentorship, I hope and try to help young people in my community discover their own strength and resilience—one lap at a time.
Williams Foundation Trailblazer Scholarship
Growing up, I saw many people in my community struggle with limited access to basic resources such as food, education, and mental health support. Many of these individuals were part of marginalized groups, including low-income families, immigrants, and people of color. I realized that waiting for someone else to make a difference wasn’t enough — change had to start with individuals willing to act. That realization led me to create a small but meaningful project called Community Care Kits, a self-initiated program designed to meet immediate needs and build human connection among underserved populations. The idea began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many local shelters and community centers faced shortages of supplies. I noticed that homeless individuals around my neighborhood lacked access to basic hygiene products and food. I decided to take action by organizing a small group of friends to collect donations of soap, toothpaste, socks, snacks, and bottled water. Using social media, we encouraged others to contribute, explaining how even one item could make a difference. We assembled these supplies into individual care kits and personally distributed them at shelters, bus stops, and parks .
What started as a small neighborhood effort soon became a monthly activity. To make it more sustainable, I reached out to local businesses and schools for support. A nearby grocery store agreed to donate its unsold, still safe-to-eat food items, and my school allowed us to host donation drives. With this support, we expanded our efforts to include educational materials like notebooks and pencils for children experiencing homelessness. We also included handwritten notes with encouraging messages in each kit to remind recipients that they were seen and valued. Beyond meeting physical needs, this project helped raise awareness about the daily struggles of marginalized people. Many volunteers shared that before joining, they hadn’t realized how widespread poverty and homelessness were in our own city. Through conversation and reflection, our group learned the importance of empathy, advocacy, and dignity. We were not just handing out supplies — we were building bridges of understanding. To make a longer-term impact, I partnered with a local youth center to start “Voices for Change,” a monthly discussion group focused on listening to underserved community members and brainstorming solutions. Together, we developed ideas like mentorship programs and free tutoring for younger students. These initiatives helped others gain confidence, set goals, and feel supported in their own communities. This project taught me that innovation doesn’t always mean technology or big inventions — it can mean finding creative ways to serve others with compassion. By identifying a need, taking initiative, and collaborating with others, I learned that small acts of service can spark meaningful change. I hope to continue expanding these projects in the future, combining community outreach with education and advocacy to ensure that no voice is left unheard. In the end, my greatest reward has been seeing how collective action can bring hope to those who feel invisible. Every kit delivered and every conversation held reminds me that empathy, when turned into action, can transform communities — one person at a time.

I am passionate about pursuing a career in automotive mechanics because I have always been fascinated by how things work, especially cars. Ever since I was young, I enjoyed learning about engines, tools, and the systems that make vehicles run. Cars are more than just machines—they represent independence, creativity, and problem-solving. I find it rewarding to take something that is broken or not working right and bring it back to life through skill, focus, and effort. Working with my hands gives me a sense of accomplishment, and automotive mechanics allows me to do that every day while helping others. What draws me most to this field is the combination of technical knowledge and hands-on learning. Automotive mechanics is not just about fixing cars; it’s about diagnosing problems, understanding complex systems, and keeping people safe on the road. I like that every day brings new challenges. No two jobs are exactly the same, so there is always something new to learn. This career gives me the chance to constantly grow, improve my skills, and stay up to date with advancing technology. My passion also comes from knowing how important skilled trades are. Mechanics keep families moving, businesses running, and communities connected. Without skilled workers, everyday life would be much harder. I want to be part of that essential work. I take pride in being the kind of person who others can count on when something needs to be fixed or maintained. My journey toward this career hasn’t been without challenges. During the pandemic, I struggled to stay motivated and focused as everything changed. I also faced personal obstacles, including surgery and balancing my recovery with school. But through sports like swimming, tennis, and cross country, I learned discipline and determination. Those experiences taught me that success requires effort, patience, and consistency—the same traits that make a good mechanic.Looking ahead, my goal is to complete my automotive training, earn certifications, and begin working in a shop where I can continue learning from experienced mechanics. Eventually, I hope to specialize in advanced diagnostics or custom car work, and maybe even open my own shop one day. I want to build a reputation for being dependable, hardworking, and honest—someone customers can trust to take care of their vehicles. This career means more to me than just a job. It represents opportunity, independence, and the chance to build a future doing something I love. Automotive mechanics gives me a way to use my hands, my mind, and my passion to make a real difference every day.

I am passionate about pursuing a future in the skilled trades because I have always been drawn to working with my hands, solving problems, and creating tangible results. From a young age, I was fascinated by how things were built and how mechanical systems worked, whether it was cars, appliances, or tools. There is a unique satisfaction in taking something that is broken or incomplete and transforming it into something functional and reliable. Choosing a career in the trades allows me to combine my natural curiosity, practical skills, and problem-solving abilities into a field that is not only in demand but also has a direct and visible impact on people’s lives. I enjoy knowing that the work I do can help families feel safe, keep communities running smoothly, and provide solutions to real-world problems.
The person who has influenced me the most to pursue this path is my mom. Watching her work so hard to provide for my family taught me that dedication, attention to detail, and integrity are just as important as technical skills. Her work ethic and passion for what she does inspired me to follow a path where I can do that and instilled in me the belief that success comes from both skill and character. They showed me that the trades are not just about a paycheck—they are about creating something meaningful, helping people, and building a foundation for a rewarding and stable career. Their guidance encouraged me to take the first steps toward pursuing training, certifications, and hands-on experience in my chosen field.
Through my career in the trades, I plan to make a positive impact on the world in several ways. First, I want to provide services that are honest, dependable, and accessible, helping people feel confident and safe in their homes, vehicles, or workplaces. Second, I hope to mentor and inspire the next generation of tradespeople, showing young people that careers in skilled trades are both fulfilling and essential to modern society. Finally, I aim to embrace innovation and best practices in my work, finding solutions that improve efficiency, safety, and quality. By combining technical skill with a strong work ethic, integrity, and a commitment to helping others, I hope to contribute to a world where people can rely on the trades not just to meet basic needs but to improve their quality of life.
In short, my passion for the trades is rooted in curiosity, hands-on problem-solving, and the desire to make a meaningful impact. With the guidance of those who have inspired me and the skills I plan to develop, I am committed to building a career that benefits both myself and the communities I serve, showing that skilled tradespeople are essential to the functioning and improvement of the world around us.

My name is Adrian Wilson-King, and I am someone who has always been drawn to working with my hands and solving problems. From a young age, I was curious about how machines and vehicles worked, often watching and helping whenever family or friends needed repairs. Over time, that curiosity grew into a passion for cars, and I realized that I wanted to turn that passion into a career. Because of this, the trade I plan to pursue is automotive technology, to become a skilled and certified auto mechanic. For me, it’s not just about repairing vehicles—it’s about building a career that combines technical knowledge, problem-solving, and a genuine desire to help others.
To master my trade, I know I will need both education and experience. I plan to gain formal training through classes that teach me the fundamentals of automotive systems, diagnostics, and the latest technologies being used in modern vehicles. I also plan to pursue certifications that will give me credibility in the industry and open more doors for my career. At the same time, I want to learn directly from experienced professionals who can share real-world knowledge and mentorship that can’t always be found in a classroom. I believe the best mechanics are lifelong learners, so I plan to continue expanding my skills and keeping up with the constant changes in automotive technology. Cars are becoming more advanced every year, and I see that as a challenge I am ready to take on.
Just as important as mastering my trade is finding ways to give back to my community. I want to be more than just someone who fixes cars; I want to be someone people can trust. Too often, people worry about being taken advantage of when they need repairs. My goal is to provide honest, affordable, and dependable service that helps ease that worry. I also hope to mentor younger people who are curious about the trades, showing them that careers like automotive technology can be both rewarding and meaningful. In the future, I aspire to open my own shop, where I can create a positive and supportive environment for both customers and employees. By doing so, I can contribute to building a stronger community where people feel supported and encouraged.
Pursuing this trade is about more than finding a career—it’s about creating a life of purpose, growth, and service. Mastering automotive technology will give me the chance to build stability for myself while also giving me the tools to help others. I believe that success comes not only from what you achieve for yourself but also from what you give back to the people around you. Through hard work, education, and dedication, I am determined to become a skilled mechanic who makes a difference in both the industry and my community.
Anthony McPherson Memorial Automotive Scholarship
Driving under the influence (DUI) has serious consequences that affect not only the person behind the wheel but also their family, friends, and community. If you think about it morally, choosing to drive impaired shows a disregard for the safety and well-being of others. A single reckless decision can lead to accidents, injuries, or even the loss of innocent people's lives. It raises an ethical responsibility: every driver has a duty to protect those around them by making safe choices. Suppose you consider it from a technical perspective. In that case, the effects of alcohol or drugs slow down reaction time, impair judgment, and limit coordination, making it almost impossible to drive safely. Even if someone feels quote on quote “fine,” their ability to respond to sudden changes on the road is greatly reduced, and this increases the risk of crashes and life-altering consequences.
The impact of a DUI is bigger than the driver. Families and friends of both the impaired driver and any victims are left to deal with emotional pain, financial burdens, and sometimes permanent loss. For people who love them, the trauma of knowing that could have been prevented can leave much harsher lasting scars. Even if no one is physically hurt, the legal consequences—fines, jail time, license suspension—can place stress on families who often carry the emotional and financial burden. Friendships can be weakened, trust can be broken, and relationships may be damaged when people realize that someone they care about risked not only their own life but the lives of others.
Preventing DUIs requires both moral awareness and practical strategies. From a moral perspective, people must take personal responsibility and value the lives of others enough to make safe choices. On a technical level, strategies like using rideshare apps, having designated drivers, or planning transportation before drinking can eliminate the thought or need to drive impaired. Communities can also invest in education programs that teach young drivers about the risks of impaired driving and provide resources for making safe decisions. Family and friends can play a role, too, by holding each other accountable and not being afraid to step in when someone is about to make a dangerous choice.
In the end, preventing DUIs is about combining responsibility, awareness, and action. It’s recognizing that every decision to get behind the wheel carries weight and that one moment of carelessness can have lifelong consequences. By valuing safety, protecting loved ones, and using available tools and strategies, we can all contribute to keeping roads safer and preventing tragedies before they happen.
Track to the Trades
From a young age, I have been fascinated by how things work, especially when it comes to cars and machinery. Watching someone take apart an engine and then put it back together so it could run smoothly again always felt like magic to me. Over time, I realized that this “magic” was really about skill, patience, and problem-solving—qualities I wanted to develop for myself. My first experiences came from becoming really interested in cars, wanting to learn everything about them. While these might have been simple tasks, the sense of pride I felt from seeing the results of my work gave me motivation to keep learning. That motivation has grown into a clear goal: I want to pursue a career in the trades as an auto mechanic, where I can use my passion for working with my hands to build a future for myself and make a meaningful impact on others.
My personal goals go beyond just earning a paycheck. I want to become a skilled and certified mechanic who is known not only for fixing cars but also for treating people with honesty, respect, and fairness. Too often, people feel anxious or even taken advantage of when they bring their vehicles in for repairs. I want to change that experience by creating a reputation for reliability and trust. I hope that when someone hands me their keys, they can feel confident that I will treat their car—and their situation—with care. In the long term, I aspire to open my own shop, where I can provide affordable, high-quality services while also mentoring younger people who are interested in the trades. I want to show them that careers like this are not only financially rewarding but also deeply fulfilling, because they allow you to directly help people in your community.
The trades are more important than ever in modern society, especially as technology continues to evolve. Cars, for example, are no longer just engines and wheels—they are advanced machines with complex computer systems that require ongoing learning to service and repair. That excites me, because I see the challenge as an opportunity to keep growing. I aspire to stay up to date with new automotive technologies so I can provide solutions that are both modern and reliable. I know this will take dedication and continuous training, but I am ready for the challenge. My curiosity and determination are what drive me, and I plan to carry those qualities with me throughout my career.
This scholarship would have a powerful impact on my journey. Financial challenges for me feel like a burden that would never go away, especially because I come from a single-parent family and most likely have to for all of it by myself, but with support, those challenges and burdens can become stepping stones. This scholarship would give me the ability to focus on gaining the education, training, and certifications I need to achieve my goals without constantly worrying about the cost. It would also allow me to access resources, tools, and opportunities that will shape me into a stronger and more confident professional. More than just financial help, this scholarship would be a symbol of encouragement, reminding me that others believe in my potential and want to see me succeed. That kind of support is invaluable, and it motivates me to keep striving even when the journey gets difficult.
Ultimately, my goals in the trades are rooted in hard work, community, and growth. I see myself building a career that not only supports me financially but also allows me to serve others with honesty and integrity. I want to create a positive reputation, inspire future tradespeople, and contribute to a field that keeps families and communities moving forward. With the help of this scholarship, I will be able to take the necessary steps to turn my passion into a lifelong career. It will allow me to transform my curiosity into expertise, my goals into achievements, and my dreams into reality.
Kalia D. Davis Memorial Scholarship
I am someone who believes in the value of hard work, persistence, and using my skills to create a meaningful future. From a young age, I have been drawn to hands-on problem-solving, whether that meant helping family and friends, working on cars, or taking on new challenges that pushed me outside my comfort zone. I’ve learned that when I stay committed and put in consistent effort, I am capable of overcoming setbacks and reaching my goals. These experiences have helped shape my character and given me a strong sense of determination to build a career that reflects my passions while also serving others.
Over time, I’ve realized that what motivates me most is the chance to make a difference in people’s lives. For me, that begins with pursuing a career where I can apply my curiosity, work ethic, and skills in sensible and impactful ways. I know education and proper training are essential to achieving this, and I am eager to take that next step. However, I also understand that financial barriers can make this journey harder, especially coming from a single-parent family. I need to pay for all or most of the tuition by myself. That is why I am applying for this scholarship—not simply for financial assistance, but for the opportunity it represents: the chance to focus on my studies, build my abilities, and continue working toward my dreams without being held back by the weight and burden of financial stress.
This scholarship will allow me to gain the certifications and knowledge I need to excel in my chosen field of automotive. It will also provide me with the resources to invest in my education fully, which is something I do not take for granted. More importantly, receiving this scholarship would give me a sense of confidence and encouragement, knowing that others believe in my potential and are willing to support my journey. In the long term, I plan to use what I learn not only to create a stable and rewarding career but also to make a positive impact on my community. Whether that means offering honest and reliable services, mentoring others who share my passions, or continuing to grow as a professional, I want to contribute to something bigger than myself.
This scholarship is more than financial aid—it is a stepping stone toward a future where I can take the lessons I’ve learned, combine them with the opportunities ahead, and build a life of purpose, growth, and impact.
Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
I’m a fan of Sabrina Carpenter because she’s more than just a talented singer and actress—she’s someone who shows how important perseverance, creativity, and staying true to yourself really is. I admire how she started at a young age and worked her way up in the industry, showing how that dedication and passion can open doors even when challenges come along. Her music connects with me because it’s both fun and meaningful; she makes me dance and laugh with her witty lyrics while also writing songs that make me stop and reflect. I think that her having TV roles is also inspiring since she showed how multitalented she is.
Her career has impacted me by reminding me that it’s okay to embrace who you are and keep pushing toward your goals, even if the road ahead is uncertain and hard. Seeing how she continues to grow as an artist while staying grounded encourages me to keep pursuing my own dreams with confidence. She inspires me to work hard, not give up when things get tough, and to express myself honestly. Sabrina Carpenter shows me that success doesn’t come overnight—it comes from putting your heart into what you love and being brave enough to share it with the world.

Ever since I was little, I’ve been fascinated by how things work, especially cars. I remember every weekend taking machines, taking them apart, and putting them back together with patience and precision. I was always curious, asking questions and trying to understand every step we took. That curiosity quickly turned into a hands-on interest. I started helping friends and family with car washes, looking, and trying to figure out all about the car and its engine. Each time I worked on a car, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that I had made something run better and safer for someone else. It wasn’t just about the mechanics; it was about problem-solving, learning to think critically, and earning people’s trust. That’s why I am applying for this scholarship. It represents an opportunity to invest in my education and training, get the certifications I need, and take the next step toward turning my passion for cars into a meaningful career and maybe more in the future.
Becoming an auto mechanic is more than just a career choice for me—it’s a way to make a real impact on my community. I want to provide honest, dependable, and affordable service so that everyone I work with can feel confident and safe in their vehicles. I also hope to inspire others, especially young people, to explore skilled trades and see the value in learning a craft. Many people don’t realize how rewarding it can be to take something broken, understand it, and make it work again. Over time, I plan to continue learning and growing in the field, staying up-to-date with advancements in automotive technology, and eventually mentoring others who share my curiosity and dedication. My goal is to combine technical skill with a strong work ethic and integrity, building a career that not only supports me financially but also allows me to give back to my community. Receiving this scholarship would provide the resources, guidance, and encouragement I need to pursue my dreams fully, turning a lifelong passion into a profession that helps people, solves problems, and inspires others to follow their own paths. And willing to work on more than just cars in the future.
In the long term, I see myself not just fixing cars, but creating a reputation for reliability and excellence, becoming someone people trust when they need help. I want to prove that dedication, curiosity, and hard work can build a meaningful career and make a positive difference in the lives of others. This scholarship is the key to starting that journey.

To me, “work ethic” means being dedicated, responsible, and committed to doing your best no matter the circumstances. It is about showing up, staying focused, and putting in consistent effort, even when tasks are difficult, boring, or frustrating. A strong work ethic is more than just completing assignments—it is taking pride in your work, being reliable, and holding yourself accountable for your actions. It is the willingness to keep going even when success is not immediate, because you understand that progress comes from persistence and effort.
Work ethic has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. In sports like swimming, varsity tennis, and even cross country, I learned that improvement and success require daily practice, discipline, and commitment. Some days were physically exhausting or mentally challenging, but I pushed myself to do my best, knowing that every practice made me stronger and prepared me for competitions. These experiences taught me that hard work pays off and that success is earned, not given.
I also carry a strong work ethic into my academics and personal life. During the pandemic, when school and life were affected, I had to stay focused even when motivation was hard to find. I balanced schoolwork with personal challenges, including surgery and recovery, and I refused to let setbacks stop me from reaching my goals. By organizing my time, staying disciplined, and committing to consistent effort, I was able to maintain my education and keep moving forward despite difficult circumstances.
My work ethic also influences how I contribute to my community. I take responsibility seriously, whether it is helping younger students, encouraging teammates, or setting an example for others. I know that showing up, following through, and giving my best can inspire others to do the same.
I believe that a strong work ethic will guide me in my education, my trade in automotives, and my future career. I think that it is a foundation for achieving long-term goals, overcoming challenges, and building a life that I can be proud of. Work ethic is not just about what I do; it is about who I am. I know by staying dedicated, responsible, and determined, I can turn opportunities that I get into achievements and use my skills to make a positive impact in my community and beyond.

One of my biggest goals through education is to gain the skills and knowledge I need to build a stable and meaningful career. I want my education to prepare me not only with the technical training for my trade, but also with the confidence to solve problems, adapt, and continue learning as my field grows and changes. My goal is to leave school ready to step into the workforce and use what I have learned in ways that truly make a difference for the people I serve.
Another goal I want to accomplish is personal growth. Education to me is not only about earning a certification or degree—it is about becoming more disciplined, responsible, and resilient. I want to challenge myself to push through obstacles, stay focused even when things are tough, and keep improving every day. Sports taught me this lesson: in swimming, tennis, and cross country, I learned that progress comes from showing up and giving your best effort even when you feel tired or discouraged. I want to bring that same mindset to my education and my trade training.
Looking to the future, I envision myself becoming highly skilled and respected in my field. I see a future where I can build a career that provides stability for myself and my family, while also giving me the pride of knowing my work has value and having a meanful impact in other people's lives. Skilled workers play a huge role in every community, and I want to contribute to that by doing my part with dedication and care.
Another part of my vision for the future is mentoring others. Once I have gained enough experience, I hope to guide and encourage younger students or apprentices who are just starting. I know how much it means to have someone believe in you, and I want to be that person for someone else down the road.
Finally, I see education as the key to building a life where I can give back. Financial stability is important to me, not just for personal success but so I can support my family and make a positive impact in my community. Especially because I come from a single-parent home and need to pay most or all of my tuition by myself. I want to look back and know that I made the most of every opportunity and that my hard work allowed me to reach goals I once thought were out of reach.
Education is the foundation for all of this. With determination and support, I believe I can achieve my goals and build the future I imagine.

Many young people face challenges that can hinder them from achieving their goals. Financial hardship, difficult family circumstances, and limited resources often create barriers that make success seem unattainable. But I believe that motivated and high-achieving students from disadvantaged backgrounds deserve opportunities such as scholarships or grants because these students have already shown resilience, determination, and the ability to work hard in the face of struggle. With the right support, they can continue to rise above challenges and use their education to make a difference in their own lives and in their communities.
I know this from personal experience. My own journey has not been simple or easy. During the pandemic, I faced serious obstacles when my education was disrupted. My grades slipped, and I often felt discouraged. On top of that, I dealt with personal challenges such as undergoing surgery and trying to balance recovery with school responsibilities. At times, it felt overwhelming, and I wondered if I would ever be able to get back on track.
What helped me push through was finding discipline and strength in sports. Swimming, tennis, and even cross country taught me that success does not come from giving up—it comes from showing up, staying focused, and putting in the effort every single day. Sports gave me confidence, leadership skills, and resilience that I carried into the classroom and my personal life. I learned how to handle setbacks, how to encourage others, and how to keep moving forward even when things were tough.
Because of these experiences, I understand why opportunities like scholarships and grants matter so much. They do more than just provide financial help. They open doors that many students would otherwise never be able to walk through. For someone like me, a scholarship would reduce the stress of financial burdens and allow me to focus on building a successful future. It would give me the chance to fully dedicate myself to my trade education and work toward a career that is both stable and meaningful.
I am motivated, hardworking, and determined to succeed—not just for myself but also to show others that it is possible to rise above challenges. My effort and potential reflect a true commitment to making the most of every opportunity. With the support of this scholarship, I would be able to continue pursuing my education, achieve my career goals, and one day give back by helping others who face similar struggles.

I would describe myself as someone motivated, hardworking, and determined to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Over the years, I have learned the value of staying disciplined, not giving up when things get hard, and finding ways to support the people around me. Sports have been one of the biggest parts of shaping who I am. Being on the swim team, serving as captain of varsity tennis, and even trying cross country my senior year taught me that leadership is about more than just personal success—it’s about encouraging your teammates, building trust, and showing respect to everyone. These lessons made me realize how much community matters and how important it is to give back in any way I can.
As I prepare to enter higher education, financial need is one of my biggest challenges. My family works hard, but the costs of tuition, books, and training are a heavy burden, especially coming from a single-parent family and needing to pay for most of my tuition. I am determined to continue my education, but without financial support, it will be a lot more difficult to stay focused on my goals. This scholarship would help me a lot and allow me to dedicate my energy toward learning the skills I need for my trade. It would mean investing in my future and allowing me to build a career that is both stable and meaningful.
Another part of my journey has been learning how important it is to keep children and youth safe, especially when it comes to bullying and cyberbullying. I know how damaging bullying can be, not only in person but also online. I know it can feel harder to escape. In my community, I try to set an example by showing kindness and standing up when I see someone being treated unfairly. I talk with younger students about being careful with what they share online, protecting personal information, and reaching out to trusted adults when they feel unsafe. Most of all, I encourage them to treat others with respect because the words we use—whether in person or online—can have a huge impact.
My goal is to continue learning, working hard, and using my skills to contribute to my community. I believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued, and I want to carry those values into my education, my career, and my daily life. Receiving this scholarship would give me the chance to go ahead into the future with confidence, help relieve the stress of financial obstacles, and keep pursuing my dreams.
Uniball's Skilled Trades Scholarship
1. What trade are you pursuing and why are you passionate about it? I am pursuing a trade because I want a career where I can use my hands, solve problems, and make a real difference in people’s lives. What inspires me most about trade work is that it is meaningful and important for every community. I like the idea of being able to see the fruits of my labor, fixing cars, and leaving a positive impact on my community. I am passionate about choosing this distinction because I know it will give me purpose and allow me to contribute in a way that is both useful and rewarding. I know that learning a trade will not only give me job stability but also help me build pride in my work.
2. What are your future plans after your trade education? After finishing my trade education, I plan to get the certifications and experience I need to build a steady and fulfilling career. My long-term goal is to master my field and possibly even mentor or train others who want to do the same thing that I do. I want to continue growing, learning new techniques, and staying up to date with the demands of the industry. In the future, I hope to have a job where I can support myself, help my family, and give back to my community. I truly believe that skilled workers are the backbone of society, and I want to be part of that important work for the long run.
3. Describe a time in your life when you overcame adversity. How did you work through it? One of the hardest times I faced was during the pandemic. Like lots of people, I struggled with my grades and motivation because everything changed so suddenly. On top of that, I had personal challenges, including going through surgery, which made it even harder to stay on track. I felt discouraged, but I knew I couldn’t let those setbacks define how I am as a person. I leaned on sports as a way to stay disciplined and strong. Being on the swim team, playing varsity tennis, and even trying cross country my senior year taught me the value of hard work and consistency. Sports pushed me to get back up after setbacks, to stay focused even when I was tired, and to keep moving forward no matter what. I will always remember those lessons and let them guide me into my education and my personal life. I learned that adversity can make you stronger if you don’t give up. That experience showed me that I can face challenges, work through them, and still reach my goals. It is that same resilience that I will carry into my trade career.
Bick Vocational/Trade School Scholarship
From a young age, I have been attracted to the idea of working with my hands and having a good, practical job. I enjoy seeing the fruits of my labor and what all my efforts were put into, and knowing that my skills can help others, and knowing that I am making a positive impact in my community really makes me feel good. That is what inspired me to pursue a trade path. I want a career where I can learn to work with my hands, since I see myself as a visual learner and like working with my hands, solving real problems, and building something long-lasting and meaningful. Working in trade and having skilled work feels important to me because it makes life possible for everyone, which I think being a mechanic would do.
My journey has not been easy. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was during the pandemic. Like many students, my grades were affected, and it was hard to stay motivated when everything felt uncertain and hard to do. At the same time, I went through personal challenges, including surgery and balancing my recovery with school. Even with setbacks, I refused to give up. I looked to sports as a way to stay disciplined and strong and to help improve my work ethic. Swimming, tennis, and even trying cross country taught me a lot about effort and patience that I can push through challenges and keep improving. Those lessons carry over into how I approach learning a trade in automotive.
My goal is to gain the skills and certifications I need to build a career that is stable and long-lasting, meaning that it would never be taken over by AI and have a good job market, be respected, and be useful to my community since it's done so much for me already giving the opprutinty to work as a lifeguard, swim teacher, and lockeroom attndent and gave me the oppurtinty to apply and get some scholorships that will help me in trade school. I want to be proud of my work and to show others that choosing a trade in automotives is just as valuable as any other path. And I know going to trade school will do that.
This scholarship would help me focus fully on my education without the stress of financial barriers, especially since I would have to pay for most of my expenses, since I am coming from a single-parent home, which would be hard. It would give me the chance to continue learning, complete my training, and take the next steps toward my career. I believe I have the drive, the resilience, and the passion to succeed in the automotive industry. With support, I can turn my goals into reality and make a positive impact through skilled work.
