Chris Jackson Computer Science Education Scholarship
For people who are interested in technology, problem-solving, and having a good effect on the world, computer science provides a plethora of options and challenges. The need for people who can design, build, and manage computer systems and applications is rising as more businesses and organizations rely on technology to run and communicate. Considering how the study of computer technology has transformed both our personal and professional lives. It is essential to practically every facet of contemporary life, from transportation and communication to healthcare and entertainment. The need for computer science experts is growing quickly, and it is anticipated that this trend will continue in the years to come. The discipline of computer science offers a wide range of options for study and growth in addition to its many practical applications. Researchers are needed to investigate novel technologies and processes and discover practical applications for them as technology advances at a rapid rate. This study is crucial for the field's continuous expansion and advancement since it fosters innovation and improvement. This year I joined the Robotics Team at my school and it has been nothing short of fun. The capabilities that a group of individuals has when working together are astonishing. Using creativity in the design process, while adhering to a specific code that ensures the ability of the robot to perform various tasks is a feeling full of excitement. Not only are the efforts being put into the construction portion of the assignment a thrill, but the ability to take our hard work and determination to competition is a fulfillment that will never get cease to make me content. I find the application of computer science through technology crucial to our generation, but twice as impactful in future generations to come. I am always open to learning and discovering new things, and I hope that my future education consists of this and more. Applied research is necessary when attempting to develop a new process or enhance an existing one. Computer science is a field that will not cease to disband and will continue to gain a respective audience.
John Walker and Christine Horton Education Scholarship
I am a first generation student hoping to pursue my education in STEM through a prestigious college. Being the first to receive a college degree is very important to me because of the hard work and dedication I have put into my schooling. I enjoy learning new things, and being able to attend a university will allow me to expand on my research. I am not entirely sure how I will make an impact on the world through my educational career or what my future profession holds for me. But even though my path is not aligned just yet, I am sure that what I end up pursuing will leave a positive impact on not just my community, but society as a whole. Will I assist in a mechanism that allows civilization on Mars? Probably not, but if I wanted to I would try. Will I partake in research that may ultimately lead to the cure for cancer? Who knows, but that would be remarkable. Ultimately, no matter what I pursue I just want to know that it will both make the world a better place, while simultaneously allowing for children with similar aspirations to use my successes as a flame to spark inspiration for their own desires. The act of service is also very important to me because of the ability to perform voluntary gestures of good morals. It is not something that is bound to a specific school-related task, but the Key Club and Honor Society enhance my willingness to help others. Anybody has the potential to better themselves and their community through service, although the amount who take pride in what they do is slim. I enjoy meeting new people and doing my part as a benefactor to society, both in proximity and afar. Recently in October, I became an advocate for autism awareness through an organization known as Luv Michael. They are committed to enhancing the lives of the autism community outside of that of their parents by educating, training, and hiring autistic individuals in the construction of granola. My part was spreading their mission virtually to friends and family. Our school raised roughly $1000 and I contributed to helping raise over 20% of these funds. A majority of my family lives up north, so the ability to contribute virtually was convenient. Even though these ten hours of service earned were indirect, the bulk of my service over the years has been in person. I enjoy assisting in events such as the Christmas parades in my local area and events hosted by the school itself. Tending to these various projects brought upon by the clubs in my school makes me feel as though my efforts are being put to good use. It is rewarding knowing that I can delight someone else through service. I am thankful for all the opportunities that I have been given so far, and am confident that the effort I am putting into various tasks are for the benefit of future generations. Like I mentioned above I wish to aspire people to pursue their passions, as well as doing their part through acts of service. I believe that all people are capable of acting upon their dreams and aspirations, and taking whatever means necessary to accomplish these goals. I am confident in the route I have taken thus far and am anxious for what my future holds.
