I desire to make a difference in the life of young children because it is your foundation that determines how you turn out. As a determined and driven student, my goals in life are to be a multi-lingual speech therapist, with a desire to open my own facility one day. I will accomplish this by pursing a bachelors and masters degree in speech pathology, with a minor in Spanish.
I’ve had the opportunity to shadow a speech therapist in my senior year of high school and this has given me more insight and determination to pursue this career. My interpersonal skills and compassion have grown tremendously.
Additionally, with the lack of African American women in this field and the projected job outlook demand, I am determined to make an impact. As a self-motivated and academically driven student, this scholarship will provide me with the resources I need to propel me into my educational and career goals and potentially help thousands of kids express themselves through the art of speaking.
