The idea of math is looking at a problem and finding a solution based on the values that are given. This has always intrigued me because I am the type of person that is looking for answers to questions. From a young age, I have taken this desire to find answers and applied it to math. This has helped me be two years ahead of my grade level in math and put me in a good position for my future. From algebra to geometry to calculus I have learned valuable lessons about life that fuel my love for math. Math has taught me many important lessons that I can apply to life in general. For starters, there are many ways to approach a problem and many solutions to fix a problem. For example, in calculus to find the area under the curve there are four different ways to approach the problem. The idea of many solutions to everyday problems can be applied to preparing a budget and fixing the engine in a car. This has helped expand my problem-solving skills as a whole. Math has only a correct answer or an incorrect answer and the feeling of getting the correct answer to a problem is unmatched. For example, in calculus when you have to do a summation notation problem there are so many steps that you have to do to get to the final answer. Getting the correct answer takes so much time, effort, and accuracy that you feel proud of yourself when the problem is finished. This feeling is vital in life as it instills confidence. As said by former first lady Michelle Obama, “Your success will be determined by your own confidence and fortitude.” Math taught me a lot of lessons that I apply to life. These lessons include having many solutions when approaching a problem which keeps me very curious. This subject needs time, effort, and accuracy for a correct result. Getting the correct answer has boosted my confidence, and got me two years ahead in math for my grade. The love of math has helped me so much throughout my life so far and has made me get out of my comfort zone. Getting out of my comfort zone I felt more confident in myself and I have to thank math for that. Overall, math is vital in determining someone's character and I love learning math.

The movie The Jungle Book has affected my life in many ways. When I first watched the movie I was amazed at the amount of similarities between me and Mowgli. For starters, I saw that Disney used an Indian main character and had the story placed in a forest in India. This gave me a sense of pride because up until I watched The Jungle Book, I only saw characters that were white in Disney movies. I am Indian and this representation made me feel like I could achieve anything no matter how underrepresented my race is. Another important lesson that this movie has taught me is, you can't give up no matter how challenging your circumstances are. This lesson was exhibited in Mowgli throughout the movie when Shere Khan was trying to kill him and Mowgli did not let that happen. Mowgli ended up killing Shere Khan in the end, even though he had everything stacked against him. Next, throughout the movie, I saw the camaraderie between Mowgli and Baloo. It started when Baloo started singing the song “The Bare Necessities,” and I could see that he and Mowgli had a connection contrary to others that I have seen before. I learned many aspects of life from Bagheera as well. These aspects include protecting your loved ones and only doing what is best for them. In the movie, Bagheera protects Mowgli from the likes of Shere Khan and the wolf pack. This manifested the moral, that family comes first no matter what circumstance or position that you are in. Bagheera took Mowgli under his wing as his own kid because Mowgli had no parents. This exhibited to me that even though you may not be blood related to someone, they can still be your family if they treat you like family. The movie The Jungle Book has taught me many lessons which can be applied to the real world. These lessons include: never giving up no matter how hard a situation can be, the camaraderie between friends, protecting your family/doing what's best for them. After learning these lessons, could see myself in each one of these characters. In Mowgli I could see someone who looked like me, in Baloo I could see the aspect of friendship, and in Bagheera, I could see the ideals of family. Overall, the movie The Jungle Book gives me the lessons of life, and it is my favorite thing about Disney.
