My name is Adia Cupid Davis, and I am an artist and entrepreneur pursuing a BFAW at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My perspective as a creator has always been shaped by my body and its limits. Living with type 1 diabetes has taught me that every day is a negotiation with myself, a constant search for homeostasis. Living with this disease has pushed me to find ways to rebuild my homeostasis beyond a medical cure, turning balance into something I can create, even when it feels impossible. I continue to channel that perspective into my work. "Dye-A-Dollie", the business I began developing in my sophomore year, is a doll I designed that serves as both a companion and a medical training tool for children managing diabetes. Through it, I aim to transform the challenges of chronic illness into a source of empowerment and agency for myself and other diabetics like me.
