For hours as a child, I pretended to be an X-wing pilot, always just barely saving my skin and the galaxy. That desire to be a hero, to protect the weak, is still there. That's why I'm going to become a military trauma doctor. I've wanted to be a doctor since I was 10. I'll be able to lead and help people in their most vulnerable times. I've been working hard towards that goal, taking 4 honors science classes in high school! Also, I was in the National Homeschool Honors program for two years. I'm attending Campbell University through their honors program. I love reading and share two traits with Indiana Jones: I can fly a plane but can't land, and I hate snakes. I'm a Civil Air Patrol flight sergeant and volunteer at a neurodivergent Sunday school. In high school, I was a TA for honors science labs. I put in over 120 volunteer hours. I'm working on an amateur novel and writing poetry. I received a regional award from the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards for an essay I wrote. Learning is awesome! I desire to learn as much as humanly possible. I pore over medical books and listen to history podcasts. I try to encourage childlike curiosity by always asking questions. Also, I thrive with challenges. For example, I attended Civil Air Patrol's encampment, an intense military-style camp. It was tough. I was hungry most of the time, and I had to rappel down a sixty-foot tower (I'm terrified of heights). I would do it again in a heartbeat because I grew so much through it. I try to practice everything in life to become a better person so that I'll be better at helping the world.
