Dr. Noelle Olson Memorial Scholarship
WinnerI’ve always been fascinated by the medical field with its intricacies, precision and the impact it has on people’s lives every day. I find surgeries especially interesting—watching a team of experts work together continuously to help patients is amazing and thrilling. The fast paced, detail oriented environment of the operating room draws me in and I know that’s where I want to be. I’d love to be part of a medical team and bring my skills and knowledge to the table to help patients. My passion for healthcare only grows and I’m ready to pursue a career in this field.
I am going to go to either the University of Minnesota or Concordia College Moorhead for Pre-Med school. I want to be an anesthesiologist assistant, and this is the first step toward that goal. I want to maintain at least a 3.0 GPA to give myself the best shot in college. This is an extremely hard field to get into, and academic excellence will prepare me for it well.
After finishing my undergraduate education, I hope to apply to a two year master’s program specifically designed for anesthesiologist assistants. This will provide me with the specific training and experience I need to be the best in the OR. I am excited about this job because it requires precision, dedication and the ability to work under pressure — which are traits I’ve worked hard to develop — both at school and in my job and volunteering.
My ultimate goal is to eventually work in a hospital as part of an anesthesiology team (one who helps save people’s lives by making sure patients have safe and effective anesthesia), but I would also be interested in working in a clinic where more unique surgeries take place. While becoming an anesthesiologist assistant is my ultimate goal, I would be willing to head to medical school in the future to become a physician (it could even be an anesthesiologist or some other type of doctor), because my passion for health care is what I’m going to follow whatever path that leads me.
I believe that I am a perfect candidate for this scholarship because of my high academic performance, my dedication to community service, and my goals for my future. I currently have a 4.1 GPA and rank in the top five of my class. Outside of school I have been a volunteer through the National Honor Society in which I have donated my time and skills to organizations such as Feed My Starving Children and the local food shelf. These experiences have helped to inspire my desire to serve others both now as well as in the future.
My family's financial situation makes this scholarship particularly significant to me. It would lessen the financial strain of attending college and free me up to concentrate more on my studies and long-term objectives. I'm committed to doing well in school, working as an anesthesiologist assistant, and having a significant influence in the medical industry. This scholarship will allow me to keep moving forward on the path I've worked so hard to forge and, in the end, assist people during their most trying times.
